- Lots of news to go over this week, including the awarding of many overdue medals! And lo, the heavens opened up and the medals did fall freely, and many Omegans saw that it was good.
- Congrats to GN Compton, who has been awarded his Commendation of Loyalty! Nice work, C! One of these also found it's way into my inbox as well ;-)
- The Imperial Security Medal has been awarded to MAJ Artyis, for activity above and beyond the normal call of duty during the months of June and July! Excellent work, Artyis!
- More congrats go out to COL Ixion Deathbringer, CM Ras Kronar, and MAJ Artyis, our noble pilots of the General's Summer Sovereign Patrol! These fine gentlemen have been awarded the Iron Star with Gold Wings due to their outstanding flying. One of those IS-GWs managed to end up in my hands as well.
- And lastly, our winners from the Sovereign Caption Contest have received their just rewards as well. Congrats to LC Brandon for his shiny new Iron Star with Gold Ribbon! More congrats go out to COL Ixion Deathbringer and GN Compton, who both tied for 2nd place and each received an Iron Star with Silver Ribbon! And don't tell anyone, but I managed to steal an Iron Star with Bronze Ribbon for coming in 3rd.
- Iron Stars with Platinum Wings for our dual SSL championships are on the way! COM/AD Proton had decided to wait until an Ops was chosen before adding to the medal backlog. So sit tight, our medals should be here shortly!
- CM Ras Kronar has decided to apply to become the new CMDR of Psi Squadron. I know we will miss him if he gets the position, but I wish him the best of luck.
- FO/HA Priyum has decided to retire and step down from his position as Flight Officer of the Emperor's Hammer TIE Fighter Corps. I for one will miss having Priyum at the helm of the TC. I've seen several FOs come and go, some good and some not-so-good, and I can definitely tell you that ol' Priyum was one of the good ones. Rumor has it that he has accepted a position with the High Court of Inquisitors, but nothing is definite yet. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Priyum for his years of service ... I can't imagine being the FO, and certainly not for as long as he has!
- And as you may have guessed from the outpouring of medals, a new Operations Officer has been chosen! Our new Ops is RA Alex Foley, and may God have mercy on his soul ... ;-)

- This just in from LC Todbringer ... the Sovereign Cup is about to begin, but only a limited number of pilots will be accepted into the competition! More details below :
"Sovereign Cup is single TIE pilots focused competition. Due to its rules,
only 32 people may participate. The competition will have two phases - group
and playoff ones. The first one will be three rounds long, the second one -
four. Each round will last for two weeks and a single TIE free mission will
be used. The competition will start at the beginning of October.
"If you think you're up to the challenge, please volunteer by sending an
e-mail to me (todbringer@poczta.onet.pl). Remember - only first 32 pilots
will participate, so if you want to have an opportunity to win the Sovereign
Cup, send your application as soon as you can! Consider also, that by
volunteering you take and block one spot, therefore preventing others from
participating. This means that you're kindly asked to volunteer only if
you're 100% sure you'll be able to fly each and every round!
"Do you think you have enough skills, determination and courage to fight for
Sovereign Cup? Do you think you're up to the challenge? Volunteer today! It
may be too late tomorrow..."
So if you're interested, be sure to e-mail Tod to reserve your spot in the competition! And be sure to CC yours truly as well.

- SWG Ground Activities : Lots of frustration for me this week, as I had to deal with getting slaughtered like a newbie several times, even though I've been playing the game (in completely unhealthy quantities) since it's release. Somewhere, there is a school kid who does nothing all day except stay logged onto SWG so that he can level up even further ... it makes it tough for the working stiffs like myself, who can only play during a little period we like to call "spare time". And of course, you can just guess what faction all these kids end up joining ...
Beyond the many painful deaths that I endured this week, Proton and I also teamed up to patrol Bestine on Saturday night, attempting to keep the peace. We did a pretty good job I think, until the Rebels showed up. Needless to say, it was a slaughter. When ONE Rebel gets upwards of 20 player kills before you finally manage to take him down, then there is definitely something wrong with the system which needs to be fixed.
I'm going to try the peacekeeping patrol of Bestine again this Saturday, but hopefully I will have a lot more backup. I've posted the start time and event info on the EH PA's message board, soooooooooooooo ... nothing I can do now except see who shows up. This should be interesting, either way ...
