Hello Squadron,



CPT Carl Lost reporting in for the Squadron of Sin for this week.

This week all past activity is included form the weeks opf yore where I didn't have my ATR 2.1 with me -CDRW's are something to be treasured ;)
With activity I was quite pleased - almost everyopne contributed something and if it was only the eMail a week. Don't misunderstand my words, eMails are the very basics but 1 mission a week satisfies me :)

Currently we're free of Squadronwide competitions bit that may change as you *blink* or you *blink,blink* give me suggestions. Also any mission designer in my squadron, step forward !

Internet Issues

There is currently a worm doing the rounds at the moment, which is impacting the performance of the internet around the world. The worm is designed to target known flaws in SQL Server, a database application produced by Microsoft. However, the worm scans so aggressively that it can actually affect the performance of your own internet experience. Those of you on broadband will probably be very likely targets and should look at blocking port 1434 on the UDP protocol if you have firewall functionality that supports specific settings. Otherwise, a general firewall such as McAfee Firewall or ZoneAlarm should do the trick. Those who do actually run SQL Server or MSDE (a desktop version of the server) should check they are patched as this is an exploit that has been known since July 2002.
