TIE Corps Command Report
Weekly Report #66 – Submission date: June 15th 2014
Introduction

We’re half way there!

Second week of Raise the Flag 2014 is over, and we are still seeing great activity, but from not many members. Of the current 84 members, only 37 are displaying scores higher than zero, which, to state the obvious, is less than half. I’d like to see more members participating, and also some members participating more.

Score wise, the ISD Warrior has kept the lead for the first week, with an excellent group effort, but mostly due to Theta Squadron and its most active pilot, GN Yoda. But nothing is decided at this point, since all bonus competitions’ points are still to be awarded. Don’t forget to keep an eye on your own scores in the Raise the Flag website: http://rtf.tsaunders.net.

Speaking of bonus points, the final results for the fiction competition are out. We’ve had 15 submissions, being 8 from the Hammer and 7 from the Warrior. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of you went ahead and read the scores even before reading the first row of the report, but, when you manage to get here, I’d like to, first of all, congratulate everyone who participated in this great competition. The TC Admiralty was very pleased to read such amazing stories that you created. RA Zósite is working on a database feature that will allow us to submit fictions to the database, so they are never lost to us. Once Raise the Flag is over, all of them will be uploaded for everyone’s reading pleasure. Here are the results, displayed in rounded up average fiction grade, participation points, bonus points for ship and squadron, and medal, respectively:

1st – COL Jarek La’an, Theta Squadron, ISD Warrior: 9 points + 5 points + 100 points – IS-GR;
2nd – MAJ John T. Clark, Delta Squadron, ISD Hammer: 9 points + 5 points + 75 points – IS-SR;
3rd – GN Pickled Yoda, Theta Squadron, ISD Warrior: 9 points + 5 points + 50 points – IS-BR;
4th – COL Joe, Epsilon Squadron, ISD Hammer: 8 points + 5 points + 25 points;
5th – COL Mark Schueler, Theta Squadron, ISD Warrior: 8 points + 5 points;
6th – HA Frodo March, Commodore, ISD Warrior: 8 points + 5 points;
7th – CPT Plif, Sin Squadron, ISD Warrior: 8 points + 5 points;
8th – COL Anahorn Dempsey, Delta Squadron, ISD Hammer: 7 points + 5 points;
9th – LT Chrome, Alpha Squadron, ISD Hammer: 7 points + 5 points;
10th – LC Tempest, Kappa Squadron, ISD Warrior: 7 points + 5 points;
11th – CPT Starkillerny, Kappa Squadron, ISD Warrior: 7 points + 5 points;
12th – COL Jacob Van Nowak, Alpha Squadron, ISD Hammer: 6 points + 5 points;
13th – RA Elwood the Brave, Commodore, ISD Hammer: 6 points + 5 points;
14th – CM Landon Cruise, Alpha Squadron, ISD Hammer: 5 points + 5 points; and
15th – LT Drake Starfire, Alpha Squadron, ISD Hammer: 3 points + 5 points.

Please note that there could not be ties for the first places, because of bonus points, so the following criteria was used to break the ties: decimals, or, it the tie is even in the decimals, it was used the preferences of TC Levels of command; TCCOM (TC-1), SOO (TC-2) and COO (TC-3), in that order. Don’t go funny on me and start breaking the TIEs, please, you will need them for the remainder of the comp. The first 3 places were tied up precisely at 9.0 points, so the highest TCCOM’s grade was used as criteria to determine the winner. Still, it also remained a tie for second place, with TCCOM grade being the same for both of them, so the SOO’s preference was used to determine who would be second place. The fourth and fifth places were precisely tied at 8.0 points, and the SOO’s preference was once again the determinant vote, since TCCOM’s grades were the same. For every other tie, the aforementioned rules applied. The advantage was simply to the one with the highest average, considering decimals, even though the grades and RtF points are always rounded up, and the level of command applied in case of precise ties. Amazing work, everyone! And special congratulations to the winners of the Bonus Points and medals. Points will be awarded in the site as soon as possible, which is not today.

With the second week of the competition over, so is the Graphics Bonus competition. The graphics will be graded this week, and scores released hopefully before my report next week, but using that as a deadline. Well done to all graphic submitters. I haven’t taken a look at them yet, but I have no doubt they will be amazing in many ways. Again, all members will be allowed to see the submissions after Raise the Flag results are final.

With the beginning of the third week, the Multiplayer Bonus Competition has started, and it will run until the end of the week, as usual. Check the competitions section for details, but, basically, fly the most MP matches you are able to, and submit your screenshots to the TC Admiralty, and not directly to the database. Submit both your wins and losses. Please coordinate with fellow EH’ers on only one officer submitting the screenshot for everyone once. If that is not possible, please report other EH members participating in the match. Take note that even matches won that you didn’t have any kills will count towards Raise the Flag scoring, although these matches won’t earn you any LoCs.

As you know, there has been a small addition to Raise the Flag 2014 Rules, as it was something not covered by the rules before, regarding high scores. The addition is in parentheses, and can also be found in the competitions section of this report:

"- 5 points for every mission high score (in case a pilot has already flown a mission/battle in the month, and hasn’t achieved the high score, he can try and refly the mission/battle for high score points only. However, you can only earn points for achieving the high score for a mission/battle once, so if a pilot already got the high score for a mission or battle once, he will not be able to get any further HS points for that mission/battle. It won’t be allowed to gather any further points for just reflying the mission/battle)"

All evaluation medals have been processed already, so I’d like to take a moment to congratulate all of the recipients in their most deserved awards. Keep up the good work, pilots and Commanding Officers.

Both MAJ Kyle Kroan and CM Starkillerny have been promoted, the first to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and the second to the rank of Captain, both for performing admirably as Beta and Kappa Squadron Commanders. Great work, LC Kroan and CPT Star! You’ve deserved it!

We’ve had two new members join the fleet this week, both CM Cruise recruits who joined Alpha Squadron, and they already earned their promotions to Lieutenant. Welcome to LT Funkleberry and LT Drake Thoros!

We’ve also had a veteran rejoining the TIE Corps. Lieutenant Nylan was assigned to Delta Squadron. Glad to have you with us once again, Lieutenant!

Sad news was the transfer of the newly arrived SL Kallamin to the Reserves, thus spending a very short time in Alpha Squadron. I hope he will find it in him to return to us in the future.

To close it, LT Jeffery Donger left the Flight 2 Leader position in Alpha Squadron, for a Flight Member position in that very flight.

Fleet Wide Competitions

* Raise the Flag 2014 – Multiplayer Bonus Competition
Members are to engage on Multiplayer activity for the third bonus competition of Raise the Flag. From June 15th to June 22nd, all MP matches will be recorded as participation to this competition, despite if it’s a win or a loss. Every Multiplayer gaming platform used by the TIE Corps will be allowed: XvT, XWA, IA, FW and SC. For the bonus competition only, Multiplayer matches will have the following value: 2 points for SC and FW victory, 3 points for XvT, XWA and IA victories, and 1 point for a loss on every platform. The four squadrons who gather most points in that system, all platforms added, will award themselves and their ships 200, 150, 100 and 50 points respectively. They will also be awarded LoCs as usual for victories, and possibly the DFC to the winner of each platform, if warranted by COO guidelines, which apply in full force (at least 3 different opponents, EH or not, defeated and +3 win/lose ratio, plus the need of having a minimum of 3 EH players playing on that game platform). All points will also count for the global Raise the Flag Competition and for each pilot. Every participant will earn their squadrons and ships 5 points per platform. Since losses are being considered for points, match screenshots are to be submitted to the TC admiralty. First place pilot will be awarded an IS-GW, with IS-SW and IS-BW for the second and third places.

* Raise the Flag 2014!
This competition will determine the Flagship of the TIE Corps for the next 12 months, the TCCOM’s Own Escort Squadron and TCCOM’s Wingman for the next 6 months. The Flagship/Escort Squadron/Wingman will be the ones who manage to acquire the highest number of points in the competition throughout the month of June. Any forms of activity presented by the pilots will grant points to their ships. Points to each activity are listed as follows:
- 1 point to each Single Player mission flown from the TC Battle Center (each battle/free mission in the compendium can be flown only once throughout the month for credit in the competition, not considering eventual battles selected for the bonus comp). Note that battles already flown in previous months of this year are eligible to be re-flown for points in Raise the Flag, however, they will not count towards Ace of the TC awards.
- 1 point for every LoC awarded in any COO-approved platform
- 5 points for every mission high score (in case a pilot has already flown a mission/battle in the month, and hasn’t achieved the high score, he can try and refly the mission/battle for high score points only. However, you can only earn points for achieving the high score for a mission/battle once, so if a pilot already got the high score for a mission or battle once, he will not be able to get any further HS points for that mission/battle. It won’t be allowed to gather any further points for just reflying the mission/battle)
- 5 points x # of missions in the battle for every battle high score
- 1-10 points will be awarded to each fiction submitted, judged by the TCCOM and SOO (TCCOM and SOO submissions will be graded by the COO and ship COMs)
- 1-5 points will be awarded to each graphic submitted, judged by the TCCOM and SOO (TCCOM and SOO submissions will be graded by the COO and ship COMs)
- 10 points for a DFC (in events taking place in June)
Bonus points:
Bonus points will be awarded only to the pilot’s ship and squadron, but regular points coming from Bonus comp activities will be awarded to the pilots regularly.
- From June 1st to 8th, a fiction competition – 100, 75, 50, 25
- From June 8th to 15th, a graphics competition – 100, 75, 50, 25
- From June 15th to 22nd, a Multiplayer competition – 200, 150, 100, 50
- From June 22nd to 30th, a Single Player competition – 200, 150, 100, 50
All other participants in the bonus competitions will have their squadrons and ships awarded 5 points for participation. Bonus competitions details will be released separately.
There will be no:
- Points for Squadron Citations earned: all squadrons and ships must get into the competition with equal conditions, and citations might be easier for one squadron to get than for another;
- FCHG/CR Rank gains points: these rank gains can be more easily achieved by one pilot than by the other, and pilots must enter the competition with equal conditions to award points
- Points for IWATS/IU Courses taken, because of the current EH system not allowing the retaking of tests.
- Points for Mission Creation: because Mission creation takes too long to be placed in a month long competition, and it would be difficult to see results.
Medals to be awarded:
- Pilot’s overall scores: IS-PW, IS-GW, IS-SW, IS-BW, if the majority of the pilot’s points came from flying, OR IS-PR, IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR if the majority of the pilot’s points came from non-flying activities
- Pilot’s SP points – independent from Ace of the TC competition, since the point system is different: IS-GW, IS-SW, IS-BW
- Pilot’s MP points – independent from MP Ace of the TC competition, because of the award of points for losses during the Bonus MP competition: IS-GW, IS-SW, IS-BW
- Pilot’s Fiction points: IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR
- Pilot’s Graphics: IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR
- Ship with best participation rate: IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR to ship flags
- Squadron with best participation rate: IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR to Squadron Commanders
- Fiction bonus comp: IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR
- Graphics bonus comp: IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR
- MP bonus comp: IS-GW, IS-SW, IS-BW
- SP bonus comp: IS-GW, IS-SW, IS-BW for overall three first places in the comp. Plus additional medals for winners in each platform
All disputes will be settled by the TC Admiralty.
Command Staff officers will be allowed to participate in the competition and its events.
Bonus competitions details will be placed here separately. However, stay tuned at the TC news page for announcements regarding the bonus competitions!!

Quotes of the Week

1 – GN Pickled Yoda: “According to the database, I joined 11 years, 11 months and 11 days ago.

I also have 11 Silver Stars, 11 Bronze Stars, 11 Palpatine Crescents and 11 Imperial Security Medals.

If you squint hard enough at ' Wing II' you can pretend that's 11 too. That is the extent of my justification for this mail.”

What are the chances :P

2 – COL Jarek La’an: "> My best bits aren't even on there if memory serves, my first command as Phantom CMDR just as the Imm closed and we became Crossbow... COMM, FO/TCCOM, VanCOM, RelCOM. JAG not so much :p”

LC Tempest: “I remember the COMM part.

Everything else up there is a lie. :P”

Have a great week! And FLY!
