Omega Report # 26 (2004-06-29)

This report was submitted by GN Brian

Omega Squadron members, honored guests,

Short report. Long holiday weekend coming up for those of us in the USA.

Squadron News:
- Sovereign Squadron League 2004 Quarterfinals are completed.
We had excellent TIE participation and dismal XWA participation. XWA-DB 5 turned out to be very frustrating for the last-minute fliers around here.

- Stand by for the start of Imperial Storm V!
(yes, finally! this is not a drill! this is not a drill!)

(whispers to Proton: right?)

- Missing medals and IWATS courses have been submitted.

Squadron Orders:
- Take a break for a few days until the SSL Semifinals results are announced.

- Medals/IWATS: please check to see everyting is up to date. Most but perhaps not all IWATS courses have been processed.

- XvT Week or War on battlestats.com, this is ongoing... isn't it? http://combat.tiecorps.net

EH-wide News:
- Known bug report with EHBL:
If you load a battle, but the right battle doesn't load:
(you get the original Battle 1 or the last battle you played)
The .lfd (TIE) or .lst (XWA/XvT) file for that battle is missing.
If encountered, please post a bug report stating as such.

- New TIE Corps survey up, would you use a squadron mailing list? (such as omegasquadron@ehtiecorps.org) This would be a "real" mailing list, rather than the current "pasted everyone's addresses" into the e-mail header).

Activity Reports:
CMDR/GN Brian - flew TIE-TC 214 for Sov Squadron League.

FM/GN Compton - no activity.

FL/COL Ixion Deathbringer - flew XWA-DB 5 for Sov Squadron League.

FM/LC Yoman - flew TIE-TC 214 for Sov Squadron League.

FL/MAJ Artyis - Running Sov Squadron League, flew XWA-DB 5 for SSL...

FM/COL Todbringer - running Sov Squadron League...

FWIW, regarding squadron mailing lists noted above, I really don't care either way. We've long had the option to use one ourselves as provided by omegasquadron.org ... so... whatever you feel like. :)

XWA participation this round was extremely disappointing. Turns out Mission 1 was a pain-in-the-butt. Furthermore, without the XWA s-foil patch to allow you to fly the GUN, some (such as myself) couldn't even start the mission, and I know I didn't figure out why until it was almost too late. Then I ran up against Mission 1, spent an hour on it, and gave up when it became clear that I was never going to have time to fly the whole battle. :-/

Next round, IF we make it, we need to do better. I know I WILL do better. (unless there are more bugs. heh...)
