2-year plan status
Gain 6 pilots to place 2 in each of the flights. Projected date to have 6 pilots and all active in some way: 20050401
This goal is a priority. I had jumped the gun on Lambda and so we need to find some way of attracting people to Alpha soon. If I remember correctly, there is a recruiting board up and running. It will be here that we get our pilots. In two weeks, we will be past deadline. If anyone, including the WC and SovCom, can come up with a strategy to attract members of the TC and Platform to Wing I and Alpha, I would be most appreciative. Somehow, someway, we need to get pilots. Even inactive pilots from the Pheonix would be great. We could always try to see about getting older members of Wing I to return. I am at a loss here. Campaigning for pilots has never been my strong point. Retaining pilots is more my style. April 1st is coming up fast. Let us make this deadline with pilots who want to be a part of a greater whole yet remain a valuable individual. Three active pilots is what we have and need. Let us make this goal! Let us show the fleet that Alpha is truly the place to be! Let us prove that Wing I is still the best wing in the fleet! Promote our wing and especially our squadron on the boards! But remember to do it within the bounds of the rules!
This week in Alpha
This week, Commander Kahooli flew for a whopping 8 points! Way to go there! Too bad no citations are available...
I am going to be placing the new Squadron page soon. It is a bit difficult when I do not have the editors I used to. That will soon change. I have a friend who has a newer version of Office that I might be able to convince the borrowing there of. It should prove interesting. The page will include links to just about everywhere and have information, INPR's, uniforms (when I can get the creator again), stories, films, orders, Alpha records (the most and the best), FCHG's, and other fun stuff. I should have this completed in full by 20050501 (May 1st). It will be a bit of a pain at first using a pure text editor (no WYSIWYG) until I can get Office again, but it will be worth it.
Squadron Orders
I will place squadron orders here. Currently, the only orders I have are outlined in the 2-year plan status. This plan has been made available to my flight leaders, the WC, SovCom, and I think the FO. If any of you mentioned do not have a copy of this plan, please ask for it in a seperate e-mail.
Competitions
The only competition going on that I want to see full participation is the Single Player Ladder. This is very similar to the old Sovereign League from 5 years ago. That was alot of fun and I would like to see it resurrected. The current orders for this ladder have been posted on line (the link escapes me at the moment). I do know that Free TIE mission #238 is our core platform requirement. It is due on Sundays to myself and the WC. I think I have to BSF them first. I am not sure if the WC should or not, but I am playing it safe until notified otherwise.
Squadron Concerns
I will place any and all squadron concerns here. If you have a problem, a beef, or just want to blow off steam, send me an e-mail with the subject line of Squadron Concerns and I will place it here (unless you want it kept private).
The current concern is the EHBL loader. It has come to my attention that it does not work the way it needs to. Well, I have found out that the download of the file will automatically select ".zip" and will require either setting the save as part to "all files" or manually stripping the end off. This is not very clear in the instruction manual provided with the program. With any luck, it will work properly when doing so. I just need to find out if I can just load it and then enter TIE directly or if I have to do a multi link through EHBL to all four game platforms via the ACT 3.0 for Win 2k. that would be a mess to fix then. I hope it lets me enter directly without crashing. I will find this out later.
Commander's Rant
This is the area I will use for my own rants. These rants will concern the squadron, the wing, the ship, and the TC as a whole. This is my vent point and should not be taken as a mutiny. It is just me blowing off some steam. Like I have always said, I may not agree with what my superiors do, but I will still follow orders. I may vent about it, but I will still follow them. Do not take my comments personally.
I have considered posting fleet news after the rant but I feel that will be an overkill on the news front. With reports from the flight office on down, news will be given 2 maybe three different times. Why shoul I re-iterate them. If I notice something in the news that has yet to be mentioned, I will certainly bring it up in squadron news. Otherwise, read the TC page yourself. I am not here to spoon feed people.
Final Words
As a final note, I will be sending out invites to the Alpha squadron mailing group and wiping everything clean to start over. You will get either one or two mails concerning Alpha squadron. I am inviting the following:
