Lieutenant Colonel Jer Stryker reporting for Hornet Squadron on 02.25.2005, 0500Z

STRYKER'S STORY
In the main hangar of the Imperial Star Destroyer Vanguard, Lieutenant Colonel Jer Stryker was prepping his barge, the Hornet's Nest, for launch.  After spending the last month in combat exercise after combat exercise, it was going to be nice to just cruise around the galaxy again, not to mention make a few credits on the side.  On his nav computer, he checked the current pilot notices.
    "Hmm..." Jer said to himself.  "Looks like heavy New Republic activity today.  Better get my escorts."
    Jer took the lift to the officers' quarters level.  The first door he went to was that of his Flight 2 Leader, a cyborg by the name of Jori Carcharoth.  Knowing that Jori would never mind the intrusion from a good friend (and superior officer), he opened the door without knocking.
    "Eeek!" a female voice screamed as a pair of undergarments was thrown at him.  Jori abruptly pushed the woman out of the way and stood to attention.
    "My apologies, sir!  I thought you said for us to get some R&R after the Supremacy Offensive."
    "At ease, Commander," said Jer.  "You are correct.  I was just wandering if you wanted to escort me on a little contraband smuggling.  But I see you've already managed to do some smuggling of your own today.  As you were."
    As the door slid closed, Jer thought to himself, hmm...I didn't know cyborgs could....
    Trying to put the thought out of his mind, Jer continued down the corridor to his brother Draiff's quarters, only to find a sign on the door.
    "Gone fishin'" it read.  Just as well, thought Jer, as he decided it was a good time to train some more of his pilots at freelancing, in case of other times like this.
    Jer walked down the corridor to the quarters of his Executive Officer, Captain Grimlock, and LT Drazhar, the destroyer droid.  They are engaged in mock combat, as always.  Jer flicked the lights on and off to get their attention.
    "Hey guys," said Jer, "wanna make some money?"
    "Will there be killing people involved?" asked Grim.
    "There's a good chance," said Jer.
    "All right!  Count us in!" said Drazhar.

**Due to time constraints and the fact that noWedge used up most of the special effects budget on catering and, uh...entertainment, the rest of this week's story will be summarized.**

    All in all, Jer might have done better on his own.  Grimlock and Drazhar got lost in the maw a total of 7 times, and their combined trigger-happiness caused an unusually high number of hostile encounters.  On the other hand, it did give Jer some good practice with his turbolasers.  But eventually, finally, they made it back to Bastion with their load of, uh, synthetic hot pants.

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S BRIEFING

• Well it was another "Week of Progress" in Hornet Squadron.  Great progress!  5 of our 7 pilots had flying activity.  Grimlock and Drazhar started out in Free Worlds.  And Draiff got Free Worlds back installed, and even got his characters back that he lost.  You guys don't give me much to complain about.

• In fact, I just want to say what a dedicated, fun group of pilots you guys are.  You're a real pleasure to command, and you make me the proudest commander on the ship.  Being the commander has a lot of paperwork and administrative stuff to it, but having you guys around makes the job fun and worthwhile.  Aww...

• There are two Free Worlds territorial engagements this weekend.  On Friday at 5:00 p.m. EST, the Imperials are going to try to retake the Sienar Shipyards and Imperial Sector Command.  Then on Saturday at the same time, we are going to try to defend the Raven's Claw and Bilbringi Shipyards from rebel attacks.  More info here.

• Now that everyone but noWedge plays Free Worlds, I'm going to start running some Free Worlds-based squadron competitions.  Watch for them soon.

• Our Wing Commander, LC Mayk Wolverine, is planning on running some old-school XWA-based competitions.  Despite the fact that most of us are more into FW now, I'm urging everyone to participate in these competitions as well, just to show the rest of the Van that we can kick ass on multiple fronts.  :)
