Avenger Squadron Report #23
01.07.05

< SALUTE >

Welcome to the AES reports of the mid-decade!

ANNOUNCEMENT
With SC starting in a few days you will see a few changes. First off, reports will be shorter, with info on MP comps, SC Scores and a few short words from me. There will be no rosters or activity report, no screwing around, quick and to the point. Another difference is that we will have a small communications shutdown, which means that I will not be uploading the reports during the month of SC and I will only be sending it to you guys and Gilad.

NEWS

1. Big Welcome to LC archangel and to CPT Dirty Vader who both joined us this week. Archie is a FWs and GFX junkie while Dirty is an SP guy. I hope to see a lot of good things from these two and I hope you both have a great time in AES... With these 2 transfers we are now a full squad (w00t) and just in time for SC too.

2. MP Competition against Wing 9 of the ISD Relentless is going pretty well. We're currently 3-0 with matches from Dax, Ace and myself. I encourage you all to fly some more in this comp, look for opposition in #isd_relentless, fly only 5/5s (no 10/0s) and report the scores on 24/7 LoC and to me (n1ghtm4r3@canada.com and to the Wing9 WC (NHolthaus@Hotmail.com). Now when SC starts on the 14th at 7PM EST (midnight GMT) all matches will be reported on the ASF SC ladders (see #3) and as always, e-mail myself and the w9 WC with the scores. I think it would be a good idea to try and get a couple matches in before SC starts, 7 days for a couple mathes against these guys shouldn't be too hard.

3. Speaking of SC, you should all be getting the Rules from VA Gilad quite soon, I've seen the final version. Now since it hasen't been released yet, I wont be giving you any of the details but I will talk to you about what has already been published. All MP will be reported on the ASF SC ladders at http://www.minos.net/~ssy/ladder/ SO MAKE SURE TO TAKE SCREEN SHOTS at the END of EVERY MATCH YOU FLY I cant stress how important SSs are for this comp, if you dont take the SS you dont get the points for your match, also I recomend that you all make sure that your opponent takes and SS as well. Matches reported on the Ladder use the ELS system, so basicaly its your login and password from the OLD Message boards. Make sure to get your opponents ELS username when you report, and if you or they dont have one, make sure that they get one. DFCs will be awarded each week in each platform, so DFC for XvT, XWA and one for FW Duels. Archie and Kysar, since you are our only FW pilots it will be up to you to rock the FW division. Everyone else is encouraged to fly XWA and XvT matches. I'll be available most of the time to fly, remember matches between ourselves are worth more point for the squad.

4. Now that we are 12 pilots, I have asked Sav (our Citation officer) to write up Citation Assignements for SC. When you fly SP, those battles should be your priority since Citations will get us a lot of points. I'll have more details on this later, but I think that aiming for 300 citations would be a good idea, we are curently at 239 so its not too bad. Collectivly gaining 60+ citations should be achievable if we all work together. We have some of the greatest SP pilots in the history of the TC. Guys like Sav, Dax and Az are the reason that we can do so much in SP, it's because of pilots like them that we will be able to get more citations than any other squadron during SC.

5. Avenger Squadron is hosting an Official COO competition titled "The Aggressor Skirmish Challenge". Brought to you by the VSD Aggressor, this will be a TC only XWA Skirmish Multiplayer Competition. Unlike normal XWA 1v1 or 2v2 MP, skirmishes involve greater numbers of pilots as well as capital ships and other AI controlled assets and therefore skirmishes become a totally different multiplayer experience.

DATE & TIME
The competition will start on the 15th of January at 7PM EST and end on the 16th at 1AM EST. We will be using the COO approved files at http://sarin.minos.net/files/skirmishes.zip

; TEAMSPEAK
It is strongly encouraged that all participants download and use Teamspeak during the competition, http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php> Even if you do not have a Mic it's still great to listen to your team-mates. A server will be provided for your use during this competition, it can be found at (66.246.122.69:8270).

SCORING
Scores will be reported to GN Nightmare (me) in #ehcoc. Scoring will be in a simple Win/Loss format. The pilot with the most wins at the end of the competition will be declared the winner. LoCs will be awarded for each win. Matches will not be stopped for pilots that drop out.

TIES
If there is a tie then the pilot with the best win/loss differential will be declared the winner. Should there still be a tie then the pilot with the most wins in Head-to-head (against the other pilot(s) that he is tied with) will be declared the winner. If the pilots are still tied after this then the host may implement further tie-breaking procedures.

HOSTS
We are currently looking for at least one individual with a good and stable internet connection (DSL/Cable or higher) in addition to a reasonably powerful computer. The individual in question must have XWA, be available for the entire competition (6 hours) AND must be willing to host XWA MP games for approximately 6 to 12 other pilots. Those interested should contact GN Nightmare (me) at n1ghtm4r3@canada.com

R.S.V.P.
If you are interested in participating in this competition, you should contact GN Nightmare at n1ghtm4r3@canada.com so that we may have an idea of how many people will show up to fly on the 15th.

Any Questions, Comments or Suggestions should be directed to GN Nightmare at n1ghtm4r3@canada.com

6. XvT WoW Starts on the 21st of January and ends on the 28th of January. XWA WoW starts on the 28th and ends on the 4th of February. All matches flown in these WoWs will count for SC. In addition, IS-GW, SW & BW will be awarded to the top 3 pilots in the ASF for each of these comps.

7. AMP; and MP; IWATS courses. if you haven't already done these then you might want to take a quick look at them during SC, I know that MP is quite easy and in addition if you haven't gotten 100% on an IWATS course you can retake it.

ORDERS
sleep and wait for SC… :P
