TIE Corps Command Report
Weekly Report #58 – Submission date: April 20th 2014
Introduction

Welcome to another TCCOM report! This one being brought to you directly from the ISD Challenge (read “my new apartment in real life”), and by the impressive power of the Challenge’s COMM system (read iPad’s personal access and 3G connections, with unbelievable subpar connection bars”). It’s just great. So you keep track, I’ve just settled in my new quarters, but still have no internet connection, so this will have to do for now.

Best news for this week is that MSEs for March, and some leftovers from February, have finally been assessed, so there will be some medals reaching mail boxes in no time. I hope April will go much smoother than this, and I believe having our COMs in place will allow that to happen.

As you are probably aware, there have been some issues with the server mailing system yet again. Things are being worked out as we speak, and some good ideas have been sent throughout the mailing list, including the creation of a new database feature that would allow online database ATR tracking. Of course, that is a long-term thing, since it will depend on the SOO’s available time to code it.

As you are probably aware, we have a Raise the Flag competition its early planning stages. Historically, it runs through an entire month, and I think there won’t be enough time to put it together for a start at May 1st, so I’m planning to make it run through June. Unless the members prefer it to be run on July, but I guess that summer vacations for those of you in the upper hemisphere would get in the way of the proper activity. I believe June will be good enough.

As pointed out by CM Lanil Jast this week, the Freelancer mod Freeworlds: Tides of War has been released. I played FW a lot back in the day, and I think I can get it to run again, but I would need some time to get it set up. We need people to give it a try. As we are aware, GN Gilad Pellaeon tested it a while back, so we may have one source of information right there, but we need more! Take it on, pilots!

The very sad news for the week is that LC Scuslem has been declared missing in action for not returning to the Hammer after his last mission, so he has been removed from Epsilon’s roster. I hope he finds his way home soon, as we definitely need him for our plans to reconquer Coruscant to succeed.

The necessary flights have been opened in the EH database, so Imperial University course notifications should be back to normal.

* *THIS* is the TIE Corps!
Competition ID#: 2534
Competition status: approved
Submitted by: SOO-TCS/RA Zósite Kónstyte Styles/TC-2/ISDII Hammer
Competition runtime: 04/01/2014 - 05/15/2014 (25 days left)
Units involved: Entire TC
Competition medals: IS-GR, IS-SR, IS-BR
And... the possibility of all an IS-PR! Depending on the overall quality of submissions and that of the winner one compared to the rest of them.
Description: So the TIE Corps website doesn't seem to have the classic 'About us...' section up there for people to realize what we really are and what's this pseudo-military madness all about. And I've heard some officers from our current membership complaining that such situation could be driving potential new recruits back in panic thinking we're gonna eat their democratic souls or something, then forcing them to play games meant to be played only by lifeless beings who lost their twenties long ago. And hell... I think they're damn right.

Therefore, and in order for such an important issue on our recruiting efforts to be addressed ASAP, your most dreaded SOO has decided to set up an official competition for you to be able to contribute with what may perfectly be the best thing you'll ever do for the Fleet as a whole out of your own performance as pilots and commanding officers.

ALL current members of the TIE Corps are hereby called to participate by submitting their own versions of an eventual 'About us' section, which will become the main page to be accessed instead the news one. All submissions must use HTML standard code and are expected to include pics, logos, links, EH/TC history, game platforms we use, maybe a few lines on usual Fleet procedures... Everything you may consider important enough to the point of motivating slightly interested people into becoming our new cadets (without boring them to suicidal levels). Please include the HTML file itself and all pics using the intended resolution on a ZIP file, then send it by e-mail to ALL members of the TIE Corps Admiralty (TCCOM, SOO and COO). And try for all your content to fit on a 750px wide table (including margins). Apart from that you should try to follow current TC site layout as much as possible, and know that your submission may be modified as necessary by site admin. (that would be the aforementioned dreaded SOO) for it to better fit current content.

Nothing else to say except that we're obviously expecting top-quality submissions as befitting our great Fleet, as much as to be judged as worthy contenders for no less than a Platinum Ribbon! Please try to understand this task is of utmost important for us all, hence the quality we're asking for and our confidence in your skills to fulfill our requirements.

* MP Ace of the TIE Corps
Competition ID#: 2501
Competition status: Approved
Submitted by: COO-LOA/RA Crsepe/TC-4/VSDII Aggressor

Units involved: Entire TC
Competition medals: IS-PW/GW/SW/BW for the year, IS-GW/SW/BW monthly for the top 3 pilots
Description: The MP Kill Board will used to keep track of points. Each LoC earns you a point for the competition, and a DFC counts for 5 points. Whoever scores most points win. The numbers on the MP Kill Board at the end of the month are the numbers that are tallied. If there are three participants then IS-GW/SW/BW, if only two IS-SW/BW, etc. At the end of the year the top 3 pilots with the most points will receive IS-PW/GW/SW/BW. XWA, XvT, Star Conflict, and Freelancer-Freeworlds are the authorized platforms for this competition.

IS-GW/SW/BW for top 3 monthly, at the end of the year the top 4 pilots win IS-PW/GW/SW/BW. Each mission only counts once towards this competition, missions flown in previous years can be reflown.

Quotes of the Week

1 – COL Jarek La’an: “...Recharge complete, active status engaged, resuming primary programming... Subject located, ident confirmed, Bonini, D, High Admiral. Commencing tracking log, audio receiver live, transmission circuit engaged. Assessment in progress, completed, subject not visible, likely location... fresher... analysing vocal and olfactory signals. 14% Chalquilla, 8% Commercial Anti-freeze, 32% Arcturan Brandy, 23% Lomian Ale, 12% Corellian Fire-whisky, 11% Organic material, possibly meat, assess as likely local dish. Analysis confirms high temperature and heart rate, contact medical officer? Negative, commence recording. ...”

RA Zósite Kónstyte Styles: “I command you to show some respect here, for that -meat- surely had a rank and a family somewhere! (seems we forgot to bring some basic supplies with us when we moved our offices back home...) “

I’m not complaining. It tasted fine…

2 – HA Frodo March: ”You know I'm bad at reading comprehension, and good at awarding medals... What do you want from me!? :P”

Is this a recruitment campaign?

Promotions

- None this week

Transfers

- LC Scuslem – Epsilon Squadron to Inactive

Open Command Positions

- Alpha Squadron Commander
- Sin Squadron Commander

Conclusion

Things should return to normal in the following weeks, but I believe we are doing a pretty good job under the circumstances. Thank you all for your patience, and have a good week!

Don’t forget to give Freeworlds a try; we might get something out of it!

Respectfully submitted,
