Mem Report # 30 (2000-04-15)

This report was submitted by LC Benjamin Jahou Morgan

Once again...Greetings, everyone!

I promised (or threatened) to go emotional on this week's report due to the fact that on Thursday my service time in the TIE Corps reached a year. I won't do that, my I'll annoy you with a brief glimpse of my career so far...

The Beginning

On April 13th 1999 I joined a cool-sounding organization called the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet. After receiving a message from a mysterious Flight Officer (Kawolski at the time), I filled out the recruitment form and got enlisted. However, at that time the TIE Corps didn't function half as fluently as today, and I was left stranded for several weeks, not even knowing what I was supposed to do. By mere luck I stumbled upon PLT Daedalus roster and found myself in the records. It finally took me a couple of weeks to get myself graduated.

Squadron Placement

On May 24th I was promoted to Sub-Lieutenant and got placed to Mem Squadron (position 1-3) aboard SSSD Sovereign. While filling out the placement form I didn't want to be placed into a particular ship or squadron...but you should know that for a moment I thought about joining ISD Challenge! What a mistake it would have been. Back then Mem was only a shadow of its former glory(?), with a grand total of 3 pilots (CM Kaek, me and SL Kintan Torr) in service. The things didn't look that good.

The Progress

Under CM Kaek's command I had a good time in an otherwise stagnant squadron. LT Kintan Torr and later LT RebelEliminator10 proved themselves to be nothing but crap in terms of activity. In about three months time I reached the rank of FL/LCM and took over Mem Flight II.

Yoman's Reign

On September 14th began my reign as the Mem CMDR due to CM Kaek's departure to the Recon Office. For several months the pilot count hanged around 3 active people (with LCM B.J. Morgan being my best partner). My time went to grabbing medals in Wing V competitions and writing very short reports. The things got better towards the end of the year, but the real action has started during year 2000. A bunch of active pilots and record-high pilot count of 8 (now 7) have kept me busy, Mem has done well in the competitions and the future seems bright. Hope that there will be many more good times to come.

But enough about me, on with the report :

Squadron News :

- Sadly, LT BlackHero requested a transfer to the reserves during the week due to RL problems. It's a pity to lose such a quality pilot.

- On a more positive note, there were some medal awards this week: LT Spooky and LCM Thrak Stener earned themselves the Commendation of Bravery (CoB) and LT BlackHero (though he's now gone) received a Palpatine Crescent. Congrats!

- Good news continue as SL Mugzy was promoted to Lieutenant during the week. Congratulations, LT Mugzy!

- MAJ Monaghan, CMDR of Nun squadron, will be leaving Wing V and heading for the elite Omega squadron. It has been a pleasure to serve with you, hope you have a good time in Omega!

Other Stuff :

- You may or may not have noticed it, but Flight I now has a Motto and a Nickname! I finally forced myself to come up with something nice and results can be seen in the TIE Corps rosters. Flight II details are also in the works.

Ongoing Events :

- Wing IV - Wing V comp. finished with 7/7 submissions from us, good work. The results ought to be announced soon. I even made a new high score on the mission [:-)]

- The competition between us and Omicron squadron started yesterday. Just remember that the deadline is April 28th and the mission TC-TIE #143 - Hit and Fade. Let's show 'em!

- Squadron League CR#7 was finally announced yesterday. It's TC-TIE #133 - The Punishment Tour (please use the attached version I sent you), a battle with 8 fun missions. This round will last until the end of the month. Another good news is that we'll soon (probably) see the updated results of the previous rounds.
