BATTLEGROUP 3 REPORT #5
BGCOM/AD Stryker/Battlegroup III

This is less a full report and more a Mission Statement for BG3 going forward into the second half of 2023.

But First, News!

  • Sadly, due to the retirement of LC Legion Ordo and CPT Ryuzokin, and the transfers of CMs Chuanach and Grendel, we have decided to close Thunder Squadron once the last transfers are processed. The long and storied history of this squadron started with now-AD Berkana as Delta Squadron aboard the Hammer before passing to LC Tygra Shadowclaw and then Legion Ordo. Though we are sealing the doors on the Thunder hangar for now, it is not gone, nor will it ever be forgotten.

  • TFTC version 1.3 has been released! This appears to be mostly stability and graphics enhancements, so we will have to test MP again and see if it explodes on us like it has in the past. More details here!

BG3 Mission Statement

I am taking this opportunity, following discussion with the TCCS and my CMDRs, to re-evaluate and re-state BG3's priorities.

  • BG3 exists as a subsection of a Star Wars gaming and fan club. It is a safe space for parties of all walks of life to socialise, share their love of Star Wars (and other things), and play games together.
  • Therefore, no pilot shall be required to do more than they are comfortable with; the minimum activity requirements are stated in the TIE Corps Pilot Manual.
  • During times of competition, maximum effort is requested of pilots able and willing to participate, but not at the expense of Real Life priorities or enjoyment of being a member of BG3 (so no, nobody is required to spam Star Conflict unless they actually want to :P )
  • Weekly and Monthly Competitions will be returning; to begin with, COL Prower has agreed to continue running "Trivia for the Challenged" (which may need a new title now that I think about it), and plans are also in the works for a BG3 Social Night to run either weekly or monthly where people have a set time they can put in their calendars to chat, play games, and have fun.
  • I maintain an open-door policy for all BG3 pilots; this doesn't mean go around your FL or CMDR if you have a problem, but it means pilots in need of advice can always come to me for pointers.

Raise the Flag

Raise the Flag starts in September; 5 and a half weeks from now. I'm not going to get into the nitty-gritty as the details are still being worked out, but I will say this: my expectation is that each Squadron tries their best. We're outnumbered by other BGs, we have been for some time, but each and every member of BG3 has something to bring to the table - Single Player, Multiplayer in either PvE or PvP forms, or Art and Fiction. There will be something for everyone, and the goal this year is to set a benchmark for us to beat next year!

That's it for now. If BG3 pilots have any questions or comments, they can reach out to me in Discord!
