BATTLEGROUP 3 REPORT #4
BGCOM/AD Stryker/Battlegroup III

Opening Statement

How is it July already? June whizzed past; it was here, and then it was gone. I'm not going to make excuses to my pilots, but things went down that prevented me participating as actively as I would like. I'm not going to go too deeply into it, but suffice to say that being a teacher comes with a great deal of stress even outside of term-time. I have been in discussion with HA Plif to troubleshoot, and between us we think we have a solution going forward.

(Re)Mob News

June, and thus Exercise (Re)Mob 5 zoomed by in a flash! AD Berkana has compiled a list determining how many tiers each Squadron completed.
For BG3 the standings are as follows:
Typhoon: 27 tiers completed.
Raven: 15 tiers completed.
Thunder: 14 tiers completed.
Tempest: 13 tiers completed.
Eagle: 4 tiers completed.
Firebird: 0 tiers completed.

The tiers were pro-rated so the smaller a squadron was, the less tasks they needed to perform to complete a particular tier. It's also worth noting that some tiers were less accessible to pilots than others due to gaming preference, free time, etc.
That said, every pilot who participated worked hard to try and ensure their squadron completed the tiers that were available to them.
I'd also like to shout out the pilots in Lambda and Rho, who both scored 48 tiers completed!

SM/6 Released!

Thanks to the hard work of a team of Training Office Assistants, led by our own LC Legion Ordo, Squadron Management 6 is now available to take in the IU. SM/6 is a vital learning tool for those who wish to rise into leadership positions such as CMDR and beyond.

Change is Coming!

Currently the BG3 Roster stands at 40 members, not including me or the NPC WC of Wing X. Split over six squadrons, that's an average of 6.66 pilots per squadron; putting us at roughly half-capacity. Activity levels differ from squadron to squadron, that is to be expected, but looking at the (Re)Mob results it is time for the CMDRs and I to look at our rosters and start asking if pilots want to be active members of a squadron, and follow the levels of activity expected from them, or whether they'd be happier in the Reserves where they can dip in and out as they please.

Following a discussion with the TCCS, this may also involve a reshuffling of pilots and changes to the existing leadership structure; we currently have six half-full squadrons of varying degrees of activity and leadership roles that have yet to be filled, when perhaps we would be better with five or even four squadrons that are filled to capacity, active, and have enthusiastic and dedicated leadership.

Some of you may say "but didn't you just open Typhoon?" Yes, I did. It was a gamble I took that paid off for the Typhoon pilots, but inadvertently hampered another squadron. I made a mistake, now it's time to rectify it.

Closing Statement

It's now July 4, so I hope my American friends in the TC are enjoying their Independence Day. As a BG we have two months to get things together prior to Raise the Flag.

As for now, though; rest up. Take a break after (Re)Mob, so we can start practicing for RtF in August!
