Beta Squadron - Violent Order
New Year, New Beta
Captain KeblaOmega gestured at Tim, encouraging him to sit. Not in front of the desk, where a number of conversations had taken place over the past months. No, Kebla pulled back the plush, overstuffed chair from behind the desk, and swept non-existent bits of debris from the seat.
"Here you go, Commander. Allllllll yours."
He drew out the "all" for his own amusement, but also in a sort of relief. His personal life, away from the Emperor's Hammer, had become more demanding than he would have thought possible a year ago. Kebla didn't want the squadron to suffer as a result of his distractions, so stepping down seemed to be his best option. He'd miss parts of it, for sure. The stacks of datapads and flimsiplast notes would most certainly not be missed, however.Tim sat down carefully and let out a slow breath as he took in the scene from the new angle. It was much more imposing than he had expected. There was a lot of weight and history here.
Kebla noted the look on the new Commanding Officer's face, a look not too different from his own when he first sat in the chair."Remember, I'll be here if you need anything. The Admiral will help, and so will the other COs. You've got this!"
Ending on a positive note, Kebla saluted, performed a sharp facing movement, and walked out of the office. As the door closed, Tim let out another long breath and mumbled to himself, half pride and half despair."Well, time to get to work. I guess we'll see if I've got this."
Squadron News
Welcome to 2023 (31 ABY) where the games are made up and the points don't matter!
(I'm kidding of course, we want ALL the points.)Beta Squadron did quite well throughout the year last year, with impressive participation numbers in many competitions, from squadron level on up to fleet wide.
Expect 2023 to be packed full of things to participate in actively, whether it's gaming, fiction, graphics, puzzles, or other random stuff. I'd love to see at least as much participation as we had last year, but with 12 pilots hungry for points I think we can aim higher! Unlike many or even most EH members, I'm much more oriented towards the non-gaming aspects of the Fleet, and I will be actively encouraging you all to participate in those events on top of whatever gaming you're doing.As you all know, I've taken over the Commanding Officer role, with Captain KeblaOmega stepping back into the Flight Leader role due to his other obligations. Captain Wildfire will remain in the XO spot until such time as expected obligations take him from the desk, and Colonel Aticus Jade will fill that role when needed. We are now a fully-staffed squadron with the welcome additions of Decoy Tango and Jinso Blackfoot, and we look forward to getting to know and game with you!

Imperial Storm 5 is coming! It may seem like March is a long way off, but it'll be here before you know it. Rules will be released soon, and you can expect more games, more mayhem, and medals and ribbons falling from the sky. Let's keep the momentum from RtF going into IS5 and show the EHTC how it's done.

Competitions
Make sure to check out the competitions in the Competition Center, the hub for activities in the Emperor's Hammer. Currently there are any number of competitions for virtually all platforms going on, as well as puzzles and other non-game interests!
Most important of ALL the competitions is of course the Beta Bantha Bomber Training III competition, where you are pitted against your fellow Beta aces to top the charts in Star Wars: Squadrons Fleet Battles Vs. AI. This is your chance to show off your prowess, and I want to encourage each and every one of you to participate.
I fully intend on submitting a BG-wide fiction competition in the near future, but that may wait till after the looming Imperial Storm.

Closing Comments
I am truly excited to be here and doing this job, overwhelming as it may be at times. I know I've got a great group and I expect great things.
To that end, I'm going to issue a challenge to my pilots: Update your INPR and you might win a real prize!
You read that right. I will check on February 28th, and when I see that all 12 pilots of Beta Squadron have updated their INPR in some way, I will do a random drawing and one of you will win this super cute... I mean, menacing TIE Fighter Pilot Funko Pop.
If the whole squad doesn't do it, the drawing won't happen. So even if you're not particularly keen on collecting toys, you should update so that your wingmates have a chance.
Expect to see more stuff like this from me. I hope to see many of you in game or online, and remember: My door is always open!
