Theta Squadron Report #4

Date Submitted: August 22nd, 2022
From: CPT Vapen Vanman
To: Theta Squadron, VA Marenta Jean – Warrior Commodore

CC: TIE Corps Fleet

The sound of Imperial issue boots slowly march down the hangar distinctly rang out as Doc slowly marched down the line of TIE Defenders, inspecting them thouroughly to ensure they were ready for the next assignment. He had quickly learned it was important to keep up with the new responsibities as Commander. Even though the Corps was currently in the calm after Remob and before RtF, now was the time to make sure everything was in order so Theta was properly prepared for the competition that the have 5 titles in, but with a relatively new batch of pilots compared to the Squadron's history.

As he finished with Flight 2, he heard the distinctive chirps of an R2 unit, and it sounded like it was coming his was. Stepping out from behind the line of TIE Defender's in tip-top shape, Doc immediately recognized the R2 unit as R2-D7, Rho Squadron's hangar droid, better known as Nix.

"Nix! Good to see you, buddy! How ya been?" Doc exclaimed, he did almost miss the robotic sass Nix brought to the squadron.

The beeps and whistles that emitted where clear enough, "Mix and I haven't had to fix nearly as many scratch and dents in the last 3 months."

Doc ignored the droids remark, "Let me guess, you need some more premium oil for the oil bath? I'm planning a trip to Woostri soon."

The droid chirped to life again, explaining that he was sent by Rho's Commander, Captain Davalorn, to locate spare parts for the squadron's new TIE Advanced fighters they earned in Remob; apparently there were some in storage in this hangar.

"Of course they go and get new fighters after I leave," Doc quips sarcastically, "No problem, 7-A7, Theta's RA-7 repair and inventory droid, is around here somewhere.
A7!!" Doc yells into the hangar.

After a few moments, the bug-eyed droid came into view. As he did, Doc said, "A7, can you take Nix to wherever the TIE Advanced parts are and help him move them to Rho's hangar."

As he watched the droids move off into the hangar, Doc took a moment to enjoy the calm of the nearly empty hangar. Trying to stay more disciplined, he snapped out of it and resumed the squadron fighter inspection.

News

I wanted to start the report with a brief word on the TCCORE. I have reached out to any LT in Theta because almost all of you have more than enough time in your rank with the needed merit medals to earn your next promotion to Lieutenant Commander. The only step that needs done is to take the TCCORE exam. It is on the improved version of the website here: TCCORE Exam and Notes. It is also worth noting that the grading is automatic and it is an open note test.

Fleet News

Speaking of the TCCORE, hosted at the Imperial University, we welcome our newest Training Officer, Rear Admiral Sylas Pitt! Congratulations! She is another person you can reach out to if you need any help with the exam.

We are in the calm before the storm of Raise the Flag, our biggest event of the year which pits pilot vs. pilot, Squadron vs. Squdron, and Ship vs. Ship. That will begin in October, so mark your calendars, and make sure your TIE's are in tip-top shape by then!

The COO has brought back game night with him, known as COO-mbat Operations. Hop in Hangar VC on Monday and Saturday nights to fly with him and others in games such as: XvT, XWA, Squadrons, Battlefront, and Empire at War.

Ship News

To begin with, the Chalquilla Cup, which started earlier this year, has concluded and placement and awards have been finalized. To celebrate another of our Corps-wide event, there is an awards ceremony for the winning team from Rho Squadron here aboard the Warrior, The Jolly Rho-gers. The ceremony is taking place Saturday, August 27th at 3pm Eastern. Your attendance, even just popping in, would be greatly appreciated, help celebrate your shipmates victory! (Full disclosure, I am part of the team, this event started back when I was in Rho.)

Additionally, the Warrior has completed the squadron size reduction, back to 12 members and 3 flights to match the rest of the fleet. You may have noticed you are not in exactly the same place you were before (see below), some of you are in different flights, but rest assured this was strategically decided to increase our chances of victory next time we are sent into battle.

Conclusion

It's a brief report this time, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we have had a couple of kinda slow, but consistent months. If I would ask anything, it would be to take a moment to check out the new and improved Competition Center and see if there are any competitions you might be interested in! Secondly, I plan to get another out toward to beginning of the month with medals and flying stats. I'll continue to announce when I am hoping on whether it be in Theta chat, Warrior Cantina, or pinging the SWS LFG role (which you can find in #role-assignments).

To the bitter end,
