Theta Squadron Report #3

Date Submitted: July 20, 2022
From: CPT Vapen Vanman
To: Theta Squadron, VA Marenta Jean – Warrior Commodore
CC: TIE Corps Fleet

After hearing the news, Vapen "Doc" Vanman wanted to see for himself, was it as good as they said it would be? Stepping into his office from the hangar, Doc sat down at his terminal and loaded up the improved virtual Imperial Academy. Upgrades to the TCCORE, a Lieutenant's exam needed for promotion, included automated grading. Doc looked forward to this as well as other courses. Unfamaliar with editting the Imperial database known as Encyclopaedia Imperia, or Wiki, the new CMDR put the course on his to-do list.

After inspecting the Imperial Academy, Doc sat back, opened the bottom drawer of his desk and pulled out a bottle of Chalquila and a glass. With an extra long pour, Doc picked up his squadron comm unit, pressing the button and summoning the squadron's droid, an RA-7 unit designated RA-77, or 7's as the squadron refered to the insect droid. The door hisses open, revealing the droid as it stepped into the small quarters.

"How can I be of assistance," the droid asked, a former spy, reprogrammed after the Empire was established and sent to serve in the Empire's Hammer. The droid still had a rough personality, but thankfully it was made to be slightly more agreeable when reprogrammed. Doc, although comfortable with droids, always wondered why the bug-eye's were necessary on these models.

"I just finished this report and was hoping to finish this glass," the CMDR explained, "Do you think you could submit this for me."

"Right away," the droid took the report and started for the door, "I'm not waking you up if you fall asleep in that chair again."

"I'm having you reprogrammed in the morning," Doc called as the droid exited. I'd say our relationship is improving, Doc thought to himself.

News

In the effort to get 2 newsletters to you all in a month, I am slightly changing the formatting for this one. Instead of providing activity stats mid month, I figured this is a better time to provide information about the Corp Comps that are currently going on, find more info on those below.

Fleet News

Squadron Remobilization has come to a close. Out of the 8 tasks, 2 squadrons completed them all, Lambda and Tempest, congratulations! Unfortunately, despite effort on 3 of the tasks, Theta was unable to complete any. There were vacations that lined up and other real life things going on for the squadron, but I hope we can make a nice recovery for Raise the Flag coming in just a couple months!

Also, Imperial University is now available on the main website! Simply log in to your terminal, navigate to the Imperial University and take courses to improve your HTML, learn how to construct a lightsaber, and many more. All Lieutenants, the TCCORE should be the first exam to consider, it is the only one required to earn a promotion to Lieutenant Commander. Many Theta LT's could be promoted by simply taking and passing the TCCORE (now with automated grading, which will help speed the process as well!)

Ship News

As you may have heard, the Warrior's expieriment with 4 Flight Squadrons is coming to a close soon. We will be dropping down to the regular 12 member squadron as the month comes to a close. As we do there will be 2 new Squadrons opening to help expand the Warrior. Sigma, and Psi. If you have interest in either of these squadrons, please let me know and I can help you transfer for the strength of the Warrior!

Squadron News

There are a couple of items here. Firstly, I am pleased to announce the search for XO has ended and I am happy to announce that COL Wolfverine will be stepping up to Exectutive Officer, congratulations! Secondly, we have had a couple of reserves, which puts us at 13. Again, if there are any volunteers for the new squadrons, it would help build the Warrior and the Tie Corp!

Competitions

Raven Squadron Patch

Design the Patch for the New Squadron!

The Great Bounty Hunting Race

This is a flying/gaming competition. You are a bounty hunter - skilled in piloting, blasters, and lightsaber combat - whatever is needed to get the job done. For one month, you will be racing with other bounty hunters to see who can collect the most bounties.

Squadron Feats of Strength 1

There are EIGHT feats of strength with increasing difficulty.

Challenge with Words

After a particularly bad batch of Chalquilla was distributed by Inferno Squadron, medical was inundated with severely hungover and somewhat illiterate members of the fleet. The tanks had been infected with a spore that ate sugar and spit out alcohol, like yeast. But, this spore also had a side effect, it secreted a neuro inhibitor that ate away people’s knowledge. To help “stimulate” some learning, Inferno, along with the medical crew, have started sending out word puzzles to help the members of the fleet regain some of their lost knowledge.

Signal Scramble Infection

Before VA Marenta's time as the Warrior Commodore, she used her faithful TIE Reaper, BESSIE, during a mission in which her com circuitry was corrupted and led to cascading and repetitive damage. Being the brilliant logistician she was, she decided to appropriate her vessel from Inferno Squadron and bring it with her to the ISDII Warrior. Unfortunately, it still has the bug of a strange frequency being transmitted into her ship. The messages are simply random 3, 4, and 5 letter combinations repeated for approximately 2 standard weeks before the letter combinations change again.

Upcoming

I have a couple Warrior Competition ideas that I am working on for August. In September, the Corp-wide event, Raise the Flag (RtF), will be taking place. And finally, I am working on a competition for after RtF for the Corps newest game, Empire at War!
