Gamma Squadron Report

Weekly Report #15 – Submission date: December 11th 2011

Introduction

Greetings,

The TC Flight Competition is nearing its completion. I believe Gamma has showed good activity throughout the competition, especially this last week. As we expect final results to be released by FA La’an, I’d like to congratulate Tempest, Impulse, Mark, Zos and Vip for their dedication. I hope next time we manage to bring some activity out of the others, as I believe everyone who took part in any way had a great time at some point. I know I did!

There is little chance that Delta will lose its place at the top on the final round, and if Epsilon manages to overtake us at the final score table, they’ll most certainly have earned their place as runner ups, since we’ve had this week the best participation rate in all the comp rounds.

I’d like to remind you that applications for Flight 2 Leader are being accepted. Requirements for the position are to be active in all competitions this squadron takes part. I don’t require Flight reports, but you’re free to do it if you want to.

Now, until the end of December, the only assignment you’ll probably have is TIE-TC 240: Survival. It should make a great end of the year internal competition. Make sure you fly it!

November’s Monthly Squadron Evaluation has been submitted to the SOO and TCCOM. We should have results earlier this month!

The new version of Freeworlds is about to be released. Freeworlds will obviously never be TIE Fighter, but it does look promising. I’ve had fun playing FW in the past, I’ll most certainly enjoy this new version. GN Gilad can be on the test team, and will let us know the details soon!

Congratulations to my fellow CMDR Dunta Polo on his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel! Keep up the great work, mate!

Competition Center

* TC Flight Comp
From the SOO: With a duration of 4 weeks I will post an XvT/XWA/TIE Free mission to complete within 7 days at the beginning of every week, with points awarded for participation, and bonuses for high scores and squad participation.  The rules have already been looked at by CMDRs and a few minor changes have been made to bring you this shiny new polished version...

Pilot file submitted = 2 Points per pilot
Submitting Files for all 3 Platforms (per week) = 3 Point (Bonus)
Highest Score for Platform (peer week) = 3 Points (XWA/XvT/TIE) (Bonus)
50% Squad Participation (per week) = 2 Points (Bonus)
100% Squad Participation (per week) = 4 Points (Bonus)

Weekly Award: - IS-GW for Highest Score per Platform
Final Award:      - IS-PW for Pilot scoring 2 or more Weekly Top Scores
                           - IS-GR for every participating member of winning squadron
                           - IS-SR for every participating member of runner-up squadron

Winning squadron will be awarded the honorific of "TCCOMs Own" to be held until next competition.
Winning CMDR will be awarded the honorific of "Wing Commander" (not the position, but as a "Senior CMDR" title)
Not the most complicated comp idea in the world, but I hope we will see some activity generated.

Submissions of pilot files will as usual be to CMDRs, with CMDRs sending me their personal files.  I will update a scores table on this e-mail group and the MB every week, and announce the next weeks missions the same way.

Assignments:
TIE-Free 259

Quotes of the Week

1 – COL Daniel Bonini: “...and was stupid enough to get myself killed by a flight of X-Wings...”

COL Zosite: “Don’t get that hard on yourself, Colonel; I’ve heard there’re DEATHSTARS with the same medical condition! ;-)”

Yeah... :P

Dark Lord of the Week

The highly prestigious title of Dark Lord of the Week is only given to the person who has most advanced the success of the Squadron, amused the CMDR, or slipped me the most $5 notes in a brown paper bag. This week's winner is:

COL Zosite, for stepping in when his squadron needed the most, and getting nothing but high scores

Ewok of the Week

Yub Yub!

Every story has a hero, every journey has a first step, every Fleet has a pilot who's about as much use as an ashtray on a speeder bike. This weeks's Prize Ewok is none other than:

The ones who didn’t take part in this great comp!

Conclusion

Obviously, final results for the TC Flight Comp will only be reported next week, but stay tuned to the mailing list, as results can pop up there any time.

I believe this competition has proven that a comp doesn’t need to be all complicated to be a lot of fun. This shows how strong we the TC are as a group, and that we can keep doing our thing for a very long time.

Congratulations to every pilot in the fleet who has taken part of this comp. You rock!

Have a great week!

Respectfully submitted,
