NEWS

Back in 2018, we said we'd start treating Discord as our main real-time communications platform but we never really made the switch from Telegram. Telegram remained home to a lot of the 'serious business' channels, putting leaders in a situation where they had to be active in both programs or could even ignore Discord entirely, which wasn't great because we ended up building two separate but very similar communities. After talking about the situation with the leaders, it's finally time to commit to making the jump. The 'serious business' channels will be transitioned over to Discord, making that platform our primary focus. TC chats in Telegram will still be around, but I'm expecting that activity in it will wane since we won't be using as much and won't be advertising it to new pilots.

With the assistance of the FSE, GN Dempsey, we've made it so the CMDRs can recommend the Commendation of Bravery which is awarded when a pilot has earned any combination of 30 SP mission completions, Legions of Combat, and Legions of Skirmish. Previously we had the SOO trying to keep track of that alone, though what happened a lot of the time is that the CMDR would notice first and then ask around to see who'd award it. We're cutting out the middleman by delegating the tracking for the CoB to the 8 CMDRs who tend to enjoy opportunities to award medals to their pilots anyway.

The Imperial Storm exercise is live and currently in Turn 5, with battles coming up any time now as unclaimed worlds lure both teams. Many thanks to our SIMS, GN Berkana, for running the event! Imperial Storm has its very own site on http://imperialstorm.emperorshammer.org/.

After starting my tracker for FCHG Career Awards and awarding one to LCM SkyShadow, I've decided to do the homework needed to retroactively award the merit medals that pilots would have received as they progressed through the FCHG if the career awards had been an established system the whole time. Those will start rolling out soon.

WARD selection is in progress, more news about that soon.

If you’d like to submit something for the newsletter, just attach the file to an email and send it to me. If it‘s something that’s already been uploaded somewhere, just email me the URL.

If you complete a new Imperial University course, you'll notice that your EH database profile gets updated automatically but not your TC database profile. The latter are updated manually, please give us a couple of days after your test is graded for the new course to appear in your TC profile before you email us about it.

  • Running TIE Corps in Battle, the Trivia Grand Tour, and Everyone’s a Critic

  • TIE Corps Pilot Manual update
  • The Commodore Volume 7
  • WARD and EDR selections
  • Evaluating CBF2 and Elite Dangerous for inclusion in the TIE Corps
  • Squadron (Re)Mobilization roster updates

PENDING:

  • Taking TM/3
  • Updating Squadron Management in the IU to SM/5
  • Competition resource - what we’ve done before to serve as a pool of ideas for what we can do next
  • Figuring out another solution for completing the evaluation feedback loop
  • Evaluation point system for competition participation
  • Updating nmisc.htm in TIE Corps Core to update references to IWATS
  • Deciding what 'IWATS' really is since all the courses are now under the IU's umbrella
