Greetings, pilots of Battlegroup III! Imperial Storm VI is upon us! We find ourselves far from home, tasked with aiding the Chiss in defending an area of space under invasion by a group of religious zealots known as the Kilji Illumine!

Already, the fleet is in motion! We are not yet at battle, but that siren will sound soon, and there is much to do before then! Let us prepare now, while there is still time!

BATTLEGROUP NEWS

All Hands: Imperial Storm VI

As stated in the introduction, Imperial Storm has begun! For our new arrivals (of which there are quite a few this past month), this is an annual wargame we run, with BGCOMs assigned fleets of ships they can move around a grid in search of an enemy we are called upon to destroy in defense of the planets in this system! Like last year, we're all working together against a common foe (played by our own Communications member and Typhoon flight member, FA La'an). Unlike last year, we have a rather nice central location for viewing the latest fleet movement and activity, as well as seeing all the news events posted by various INN reporters (including our own CM Jagged Fell III, COL Mordred, and LT Armon Ferro). I highly recommend keeping an eye on https://www.emperorshammer.org/imperialstorm.php as the wargame progresses to get an idea of how things are shaking out - and when you might be called to service.

When we do encounter the enemy, we'll be thrown into a battle, during which all pilots will be called to service, in the form of PvP matches, PvE matches, and SP free missions. We'll have a certain number of PvP and PvE winning matches we're looking to achieve, and a specific single player custom Free mission to fly as well. For everyone who's done this before, that's old hat, but there are some key changes this year to be aware of. First, it won't just be the top three scores that count for single player missions this year - everyone who flies the assigned free mission will contribute to the battle effort! Secondly, not all platforms will be counted the same for PvP and PvE - different platforms will have different scores for winning matches. And what might those values be? Glad you asked!

For PvE, the following points will be awarded for winning matches in the listed platform during Imperial Storm battles:

  • XvT: 2 points
  • BoP: 2 points
  • XWA: 2 points
  • SWS: 4 points
  • SC: 1 point
  • EA-BF1: 6 points
  • EA-BF2: 6 points
  • XWAU: 2 points
  • TFTC: 2 points
  • EaW: 2 points
  • ED: 5 points
  • SWTOR: 5 points
For PvP, the following points will be awarded for winning matches in the listed platform during Imperial Storm battles:
  • XvT: 10 points
  • BoP: 10 points
  • XWA: 10 points
  • SWS: 10 points
  • SC: 8 points
  • EA-BF1: 12 points
  • EA-BF2: 12 points
  • XWAU: 10 points
  • TFTC: 10 points
  • EaW: 5 points
  • ED: 5 points
  • SWTOR: 8 points
The big takeaway here is this: please don't feel pressured to play a particular platform. We want you playing whatever you enjoy most, without stressing about whether or not it's "best" for the fleet. For me, whatever you get the most fun out of is going to be what helps us out the most.

You don't have to follow along with the battle map to know when it's battle time - when a battle occurs, I will both send out an announcement on the Discord as well as an email notifying you of the battle, the mission, the numbers we're trying to hit, and the situation. I'll also send out follow-up pings/messages if we hit the maximum amount of acceptable matches for PvE and/or PvP, and once the battle has been completed.

For our new arrivals, if you're still getting up to speed on some of the basics, like how to submit screenshots for PvE and/or PvP matches, now's a good time to get with your squadron commander and/or fellow pilots to try to work that out. For reference, just about everything you need to know about multiplayer match configurations and how to submit screenshots on our website can be found in the Combat Operations Manual. I highly recommend taking a look!

Right now, it's only day #1, and things are still quiet. There is time to prepare. But be warned! The sirens will be wailing soon enough...

Competition details can be found here. The full ruleset is also available. Information about plot movements behind Imperial Storm can be found at the EH wiki.

Competition Results: Find a WC for Wing XXII!

After a month long search, which included a vote of the pilots of Battlegroup III, I am pleased to announce that we have a new (fictional) Wing Commander for Wing XXII of the Renegade!

Our finalists were:

And with that... our winning contestant is...

::traditional drumroll here::

The new Wing Commander for Wing XXII is... Major Enrina Drosa!

MAJ Enrina Drosa will take her place on the roster soon enough. In the meantime, I wanted to thank all the participants and the voters for this competition! I greatly appreciate the tremendous submissions we had along the way. All participants have had their creations immortalized in the EH wiki under the heading of "NPCs of the Renegade", and I like to think that all of them are bouncing around the Renegade, causing trouble, even without getting the top spot (this time).

Medals are in the mail for the finalists. Thanks again to everyone who participated in this competition!

TIE CORPS NEWS AND COMPETITIONS

Competition Reminder: TIE Corps in Battle Season 7

Friendly reminder that Season 7 of TCiB is upon us! This season has seen the addition of TFTC as a platform, in addition to the standard TIE, XvT, and XWA. Round 3 has just concluded, and Round 4 has begun! Round 4 will run until 23:59 March 15th UTC -12! Battles for this round include...

Credit to Typhoon, who currently sits at third place on the leaderboard after Round 2!

More competition details can be found here!

Competition Reminder: SWTOR Conquest 2: The search for more Conquest, Season 3

Folks who have been here for awhile and are active SWTOR players are likely already plugged into the different SWTOR events going on, but I'd like to drop a reminder here, especially for anyone relatively new who might not be aware of these events.

For this particular competition, pilots within the official organizational guilds on the Star Forge server ("Emperor's Hammer" for the Sith Empire and "Infiltrator Wing" for the Republic) will compete against each other for placement awards while they aide the organization to meet its in-game goals. Weekly placement awards are determined by the sum of all conquest points earned by a pilot's legacy.

If you're a SWTOR player, I recommend reviewing the competition details can be found here! Please reach out if you have any questions!

Competition Reminder: Ace of the TIE Corps

Wanted to drop a friendly reminder that the Ace of the TIE Corps ongoing competition, which rewards the top performing pilots in the categories of SP, PvE, and PvP, is on-going, and no longer as a yearly competition! The comp continues to award pilots on a monthly rate, but season prizes are now awarded three times a year instead of once a year.

The first season started on January 1st, and will continue through April 30, 2024. Details can be found at the following links for each title...

That's it for now, but expect to be hearing quite a bit more from me this month as battles arise during Imperial Storm! As always, if you have any questions about things going on in Battlegroup III, the TIE Corps, or anything else, please feel free to reach out! My email is locke.f.setzer@gmail.com and my Discord name is LockeSetzer. Please use whichever is most convenient for you. My door is always open!

In Service,
