The Operations Officer and myself and in agreement that Iron Stars can only be awarded for Competitions that are already officially approved (via the submission system in the TC database). Any awards that are recommended for competitions that have not been approved will be immediately denied by the Operations Officer.

This also brings to the fore the matter of gaining approval for a competition before the Competition has begun (and definitely before it has ended). Thus:

• All Competitions must be submitted for approval prior to their launch.
• The Training Office will no longer approve competitions that are backdated (except under exceptional circumstances).

The turnaround time for me to review submitted competitions is short; therefore there is little excuse that submitted competitions are not reviewed until after the data they’re scheduled to begin. A simple fact that would ensure this was not a problem would be to plan in advance any competitions you intend to conduct.

The Training Office is not currently excepting new IWATS Course proposals. This is a temporary measure I have set in place so that I can ensure all Courses are up-to-date, have active Professors, and provide knowledge of value to those that complete them (this does not apply to potential Courses that I have already reviewed). Please refrain from sending me proposals until I announce that I am once more in a position to accept them; doing so merely wastes my time, and yours.

The Training Office site has been slightly updated (including a new splash page, to replace the rather tiresome textual link). The successful TOA applicant will be responsible for the majority of updates to the site (see below for TOA requirements).

The Graphics Course is currently offline until a new Professor is appointed, and the Course Notes are updated to reflect the changes to the system. Computer Basics test submissions may be delayed until the selected Professor is approved and has access to grade them. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Training Office Assistant (TOA) Open for Applications

After due consideration of the multitude of tasks required to be completed by the Office, the position of TOA is now open. The successful applicant will be duly considered for elevation to the position of Command Attaché in the future. The requirements are:

• An active member of the Emperor’s Hammer.
• Holding at least the rank of Commander (or equivalent).
• No serious HCI convictions within the last 12 months.
• A high-level of online activity (IRC, Fast e-mail turnaround).
• Above average talent & experience in creating/managing websites (HTML).
• Excellent grasp of the English language.
• [Optional - Desired] Knowledge of Active Server Pages (ASP)

Graphics (GFX) Professor Open for Applications

Following the resignation of Dark Adept Mejas Doto from the position of Graphics Professor, the position is now open for applications. The requirements are:

• An active member of the Emperor’s Hammer.
• Holding at least the rank of Lieutenant (or equivalent).
• Above average talent & experience in creating digital graphics/images.
• Have a working knowledge of Jasc’s Paint Shop Pro and/or Adobe’s PhotoShop.
