My congratulations to the new Command Officers, Fleet Admiral Karias and Vice Admiral Zoltar and to Rear Admiral Darknyte for the successful alliance with the Rebel Squadrons – hopefully opening up more avenues for some thrilling competitions!

After reviewing several excellent applications (there are undoubtedly a few highly skilled flash animators in the EH) I have decided to appoint Captain Ace of Avenger Squadron to the position of Flash (FLA) Professor. I received a similar number of sterling applications for the vacant position of JavaScript (JS) Professor, and after much deliberation I have selected Captain Zexipher Van Taelyan of the SSSD Sovereign. Once again, after reviewing a range of experienced candidates, I have decided to appoint Vice Admiral Reb Crush of the Corporate Division to the post of Eggdrop (BOT) Professor. Congratulations to all these new members of the IWATS family!

Lieutenant Colonel Tissaya Argat, the long-standing Professor of the Active Server Page (ASP) Course has tendered me her resignation from the post. I have been aware of this for a few weeks, and have been exploring the possibilities of several candidates. But, upon mutual agreement with the Executive Officer, I am advertising the post for a limited time before selecting a successor. See details below.

After consultation with the Operations Officer, it has been decided that the forward dating of Competitions is no longer helpful to our Offices; and thus all forward dating of Competitions (with very select exceptions) beyond a term of 3 consecutive months will be prohibited. This time-span should be more than enough for the various Ship and Wing competitions that are run, if after that 3 month period, the competition concept will continue, the applicable Officer will need to recommend it once more. Battlegroup Commanders; please pass this message on to your Flag Staff.

I will be putting a section up on the Training Office site detailing the various rules and regulations for submitting Competitions – a guide that should greatly increase the ease of submission and efficiency of my reviewing thereof.

After consultation with the Grand Master of the Dark Brotherhood, it has been agreed that DB members who are appointed to the position of IWATS Professors can receive awards for their work within the Training Office directly within the DB. The awards will be a Grand Cross of the Dark Side for the creation/authoring of a Course, and a Ruby Scepter for reaching the specific graduate milestones. However, due to the recent happenings within the Dark Brotherhood, this will most probably need to be re-evaluated with the Grand Master when the situation has resolved.

It is with great reluctance that I am forced to advertise for an X-Wing Alliance Mission Design (XAM) Professor. It is my hope that this will be the last change to the role of Professors (aside from new Courses) that I will be forced to make. See the details below.

The Training Office is still not currently excepting new IWATS Course proposals. This is a temporary measure I have set in place so that I can ensure all Courses are up-to-date, have active Professors, and provide knowledge of value to those that complete them (this does not apply to potential Courses that I have already reviewed). Please refrain from sending me proposals until I announce that I am once more in a position to accept them; doing so merely wastes my time, and yours.

Active Server Page (ASP) Professor Open for Applications 

Following the resignation of Lieutenant Colonel Tissaya Argat from the position of ASP Professor, the position is now open for applications. The requirements are:

  • An active member of the Emperor's Hammer.
  • Holding at least the rank of Lieutenant (or equivalent).
  • Extensive knowledge of Active Server Pages, preferably in an online database scenario.
  • Be willing to grade exam submissions within 24 hours.
  • Keeping accurate Graduate Counts (total and per month).
  • Maintaining/updating the Course Notes.

Applications should be sent to me (to@emperorshammer.org) with the subject “ASP Prof Application”. Unlike previous advertisements, the closing date for applications for ASP Professor is Friday 25th April 2003.

X-Wing: Alliance Mission Design (XAM) Professor Open for Applications 

The requirements are:

  • An active member of the Emperor's Hammer.
  • Holding at least the rank of Lieutenant (or equivalent).
  • Extensive knowledge of designing Missions in X-Wing: Alliance (using the software “AlliED”)
  • Be willing to grade exam submissions within 24 hours.
  • Keeping accurate Graduate Counts (total and per month).
  • Maintaining/updating the Course Notes.

Applications should be sent to me (to@emperorshammer.org) with the subject “XAM Prof Application”. Due to the nature of the position, there is no closing date for applications; they will remain open until such time as a relevantly competent individual is found.
