Training Office Report #6
Admiral Keldorn Reporting
– 5th April 2003
http://www.emperorshammer.ca/

My apologies for the late nature of this Report – as I notified the Grand Admiral and Sector Admiral earlier; my life is rather hectic at the moment and thus my replies may be delayed to what they usually are. Please bear with me.

As several of my peers have done, I would like to publicly express my support for the Coalition troops currently serving in the Iraq conflict, and to wish all them all a safe and speedy return.

I would like to thank Grand Admiral Ronin and Sector Admiral Astatine for my promotion to Admiral! And would like to offer my congratulations to the Operations and Science Officers on their promotion and award respectively. Although late, I would also like to express my thanks to High Admiral Idanian for his excellent service as Reconnaissance Officer - I greatly enjoyed serving as an ROA within his Office, and I wish him the best of luck as the new Special Operations Director.

My e-mail account was offline for several days (Friday until Wednesday, with sending still not entirely remedied) due to a technical malfunction on the host’s server. I would hope that I have recovered all the e-mails that were sent to me in that period, but if you fail to receive a reply within the next 72 hours, please feel free to forward the individual messages to me again.

The Training Office and IWATS site has moved to www.emperorshammer.ca and has undergone some fundamental revisions. The majority of IWATS Courses are now hosted at that location (with an emergency backup also hosted on imperialacademy.org – thanks to the Executive Officer) as the first step in the gradual centralisation of all IWATS/Training Office resources. Each Professor now has access to update and maintain their own Course notes, and thus all general updates will now be the direct responsibility of the Professor. My utmost thanks go out to both Sector Admiral Astatine and Fleet Admiral Aiden Cantor Karias – FA Karias for the use of the new domain, and SA Astatine for the use of the old domain. The rationale for the move is (as stated) the beginning of centralisation of resources, to free up the XO from another time-consuming task, to permit each Professor access to their material and to free up resources (imperialacademy.org, with the approval of the XO) for the development of new training ideas and concepts.

The complete Course listing and each Course’s URL can now be found at: http://www.emperorshammer.ca/courses.html.

The Training Office has also begun the gradual process of revising the Emperor’s Hammer Training Manual. Currently, thanks to the collective efforts of Commander Foley, FA Karias and I, the content has been inputted into a new design that can be accessed at: http://www.emperorshammer.ca/manual/.

It has been brought to my attention that some of the Competitions that have been requested are of a somewhat “dubious” nature, and thus I will be cracking down on the more ‘vague’ submissions, and those submissions that do not have the approval of the relevant Command Officer (when required). Hence, to save both you and me the time, when you submit competitions, be as precise as possible and mention in the Miscellaneous section if you have the approval of the applicable CO or superior Officer so that I do not have to seek these individuals out myself – or direct you to. Please note, however, that the approval of relevant CO’s only applies to the more unconventional competitions that would encroach on a CO’s area of responsibility (I.e. It would be courteous to get the approval of the COMM if you were to run a competition on the Message boards).

Commander Alex Foley recently resigned from his status as a Professor after serving for a considerable time as Professor of both the Flash and JavaScript Courses. I thank him for his efforts in the Training Office.

The Training Office is still not currently excepting new IWATS Course proposals. This is a temporary measure I have set in place so that I can ensure all Courses are up-to-date, have active Professors, and provide knowledge of value to those that complete them (this does not apply to potential Courses that I have already reviewed). Please refrain from sending me proposals until I announce that I am once more in a position to accept them; doing so merely wastes my time, and yours.
