ISDII Immortal Report # 9 (2001-03-10)

This report was submitted by VA Adrenaline

<salute>

February was a great month for the Immortal, and I'm glad to welcome aboard many new (and old) faces. We have been taking part in some successful comps, and preparing for some new exciting ones. I am happy to report with our numbers growing and the aggressive, competent crew we've got right now, Vampire is looking closer and closer to being opened :) I also am confident that we will charge our way through to victory in this ECR III competition. Keep up the great work pilots :)

(RogueWing , you're only 2 FREE-missions away - 1 & 23 )

Some goals for flying :

Green Run - flying 30 missions will earn you an easy medal, the Commendation of Bravery (CoB). A nice cruisey run, low technical ability required.

Blue Square - fly every XWA mission and battle (including the IW ones) and earn yourself a spot on the honor list. A run that offers a little more of a challenge, but simple enough if you know what you're doing. Completing this should also be a great benefit to your squads citation standings :)

Black Diamond - get 4 or more XWA mission high scores and be a member of the honor list to receive the 'golden batallion'. Experts only! Or for intermediate pilots looking for a challenge.

Double Black Diamond - work on getting high scores on all the XWA missions and battles. I would love to see our ship take control of all the possible XWA high scores out there, and we are close.. so if you are an expert pilot and need to challenge yourself, I suggest hitting the black diamond runs :P

*pardon the ski-runs analogy.. spending a little too much time on the mountain these days :P

Recent Achievements

I am pleased to announce that members of our crew have snagged 2/3 of the Battlegroup monthly awards :)

Congratulations are due to LC Toran Dan of Ranger Squadron, who is the BG Commander of the Month :

In the words of Lieutenant Colonel Badlands: LC Toran Dan a stunning CMDR participating in a ton of competitions, creating images, online on IRC lots of the time and able to deal with his squadron at a highly professional level. Never in trouble, high communication and doing this all through the hells of school is more than enough for him to be CMDR of the month in my books.
BGCOM's Note: Commanders should be a role model for their squads, and this shows it. Congratulations!

And congrats to LCM Gord Darkonian of Falcon Squadron who earns the prestigious title of BG Pilot of the Month :

LCM Gord Darkonian of Falcon Squadron is an excellent pilot, extremely useful in FalconĀ“s Victory over Hey with a HS, topscorer in two XWA League combat runs, and second highest scorer in COM's Own comp. Flew 55 Missions this month with 5 HS. Top Falcon FGHG scorer. And an overall nice guy, Gord has been instrumental in bringing Falcon back to one of the top XWA Squadrons in the TC, with his outstanding flying and loyalty.
BGCOM's Note: Such impressive activity is grounds for reward. Pilots don't have to perform this well, though it is encouraged. This pilot has gone well above and beyond the call of duty. Good work!

Great to see all your hard work paying off Toran and Gord! Congrats again :)

Wing XI- ISD Immortal:
The current BG Flagship is all set to make a valiant show to keep her title, and it seems they might take it again. They have a strong and devoted crew with some of the best skill around, as apparent in recent XWA Competitions round and about. I have no doubt they'll put up a good fight, so watch out!

--Our ship's evaluation is certainly impressive as well :) Let's make sure we prove VA Jarak right, and hold onto our title of Flagship of the Battlegroups :)

New Arrivals

Quite a few new pilots since my last report, CPT Werdna Elbee/Phantom, COL Marc/Demon, LT Hawk Hunter/Falcon, SL Deimos/Phantom, SL Ashley Katya/Phantom, SL Corran Maxwell/Ranger. (it's been a while since my last report :P ) Welcome aboard everyone :)

Welcome back to the Immortal's ex-COM , COL Marc! He served as the Immortal's Commodore for over a year before I moved in, and is someone I have always looked up to :) Having left to the Reserves in Sept., he has found time to join us back in Demon Squadron and has already been flying like mad! This brings our Canadian membership up to 4 members again.. not quite outnumbering our Euros.. but getting closer! :P Great to have you back Marc :)

War Room

ECR III

With the fiction portion of this comp coming to a close, I would say our ship had a fairly solid submission, with some great stories coming from you guys :) Our participation was at 69%, with Ranger pulling of an impressive 100% submission once again, excellent job Lurps!

Next up is Graphics, and I am expecting everyone to be able to throw together a little something. I have a page on the Immortal site ( http://www.webroot.net/immortal/jaycor/wingxi/Fonts.html) that allows you to download all kinds of fonts ( I've actually fixed all the broken links for those of you who actually visit this page regularly.. Banger ;), use them and make something cool that's TieCorps related. I also recommend taking screen shots (see message thread over the egroups for more info on how to :P) to capture ship images and lasers planets etc.. Any questions , don't hesitate asking over the egroups(yahoogroups.. whatever) isd_immortal@yahoogroups.com -- we have many pilots that are excellent graphic artists and are willing to help when asked :)

Expect some information coming from BGCOM VA Jarak soon about the Graphics Phase, and hopefully some results from the fiction submissions :)

Week of War (WoW)

What can I say? Our crew of Demons kicked butt! With a total ship participation of 5 pilots, we accounted for half of the entire EH members participating (10). 3 of our pilots were instrumental in the EH claiming 4th overall club, earning us our second BSC medal :

COL Dras Hempor should also be commended for his 8th place overall player result.. with 18 matches played, and only 1 match lost! Excellent flying Drasemon!

And Demon pilots CPT Lito Rendal and LT Charles also did very well, Lito with an astonishing 10th place finish ( 27wins 5 losses ) , Demos with a 22nd place finish (19 wins, 7 losses ).

With great multiplayer flying like this, we are proving once again that we have the best overall XWA pilots in the Tiecorps! Go Immortal :)

Adrenaline (me:P) found some time to fly 5 matches and won a couple of them even (2/3) and RogueWing put in a good effort with his 3 matches, but couldn't pull out a win.. glad you came out and tried RW :) The more of us that participate, the more points the EH gets towards our overall club score, so even losing one small match counts :) Of course wins help our other overall averages, but skill to win can only come with practice. It is not mandatory of course for the pilots of this ship to fly multiplayer, lag kinda ruins the fun of it for most, but this is just a suggestion for those of you that want to :P

EH Ladder

Another Multiplayer event, ongoing for a few months.. fly XWA , XvT, or do some saber battling with JK with any EH members that are on the ladder and fight your way to glory and shiny medals :) http://www.imperialacademy.org/ladder/news.asp Join today, and challenge your COM ! :) Currently, only me, Badlands, DarkHawk and Dras Hempor are signed up, come on guys :P

Falcon vs Mantis

Good luck to Falcon pilots, as they fly FREE-XWA 20. They have until March 24 to get some high scores and kick those Mantis pilots' butts :P Go Falcon!

Immortal homepage design comp:

In case you haven't noticed, the Immortal site has been neglected for quite sometime. I have been putting it on the backburner for way to long and it's time for a whole new look. I am offering a Iron Star - Silver Ribbon (IS-SR) to the best ISD Immortal/Wing XI page design. This is what I expect from submissions :

1. A simple banner/nav bar that can appear as a header on each page. Use the existing Immortal site as an example of what links should be on the nav bar.
2. One page only , ie. an example of the roster page, or news page, or cantina, etc. I expect to use the same layout throughout the entire site. ( template )
3. Big bonus would be a site with php or asp scripting that allows admin users to login and update news/roster etc.

The winning designer will get more details from me so we can work together to get a new exciting Immortal/Wing XI site together, not to mention a shiny new medal for their uni ;) This contest is in conjunction with the ECR graphics comp, so that the banner can be used for your ECR entry ;)

Skipping Missions
16:30 - AD StarLion [colstarlion@hotmail.com]
Recently, it has come to my attention that pilots have been simply playing 5/6 of a battle (or X-1/X) and submitting it, saying they skipped the last mission. According with the Tactical Manual, i have issued Tactical Order #001.

Tactical Order #001
Admiral StarLion

Persons having skipped a mission in a battle MUST fill out a legitimate bug report on that battle in order to receive credit for that battle.
If the Tactical Office discovers you are NOT doing so, the BSF's in question will be removed from your record, irregardless of previously completed entries for said battle.

(Quoted from: The Tactical Manual)
You may not skip more than one mission. You may NOT skip Free Missions. You may NOT skip a mission just because you do not want to fly it.
