#2
|
| The one where the
Red Sox win the World Series

=============================================
No grudge match this
week. Instead....
"COISE SCHMOISE, IT VAS ALL ABOUHT THE
PITCHING!" or
WHY THE RED SOX ARE THE
TEAM OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE (It's okay, I can say this cause I'm
Jewish)
86
years wandering without a World Series... 40 years wandering in the
desert
The
Sox put in Bill Buckner as a defensive replacement... God subbed in Moses for
his older brother Aaron in Egypt, and look where it got
'em.
On
that note, Moses came down with the 10 Commandments for the Jews, only to throw
a wild pitch and allow the Mets to tie it up in the bottom of the ninth.
Bam, more waiting.
Grady
Little, Methuselah. Grady Little, Methuselah. Who's older? Nobody
knows.
Manny
Ramirez didn't do too well in last year's playoffs. This year with all his
hair, he was crucial. Samson,
anyone?
Dave
Roberts stealing second on Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada in Game 4 of the
ALCS... David vs. Goliath.
Theo
"Noah" Epstein, who built an ark of two of each kind of player. Ace
pitchers Schilling and Foulke. Crazy-haired Dominicans Manny and
Pedro. Former National League speedsters Orlando Cabrera and Dave
Roberts. Second basemen Pokey Reese and Mark Bellhorn. We waited out
the flood, and were the last team standing.
And
who can forget Sweet Jesus Johnny Damon, whose two homers in Game 7 of the ALCS
brought us our salvation?
What makes this even
better is that Justin and all the Yankee fans are gonna give me grief about
this. BRING IT ON.

:: Bizarre Titles (Pending) - Use
your noggins here. The task is to come up with the most outlandish title
for yourself possible. For instance, a good title would
be
"Purple Monkey Dishwasher". Points are awarded for creativity and
randomness, and are judged by yours truly. Winner gets
an
IS-SR, gets to come up with a strange title
for me. Second place gets an IS-BR, and gets to keep their title in their
ID line for a
month or so.
:: Rating Races - FCHG and Combat
Rating races, except this time, I'll actually keep track of them. IS-SW to
the winners, IS-BW to second place.
:: Furnish My Office!!! - No Star
Destroyer is complete without a good website. Since I'm loaded down with
coursework and don't quite have the time
to dedicate to building a website from scratch, I'm opening up the task to any
Wing pilot with the know-how. This isn't
really a competition, but it's something you guys are going to do.
And be rewarded handsomely.
NUMBERS
(Terry Francona
doesn't manage by these; neither do
I.)
Frag
Officers (Like flag officers, but with more kills):
1
Echo (When a duck quacks, it
doesn't have one): 6
Scorpion (If you find one of
them in your sleeping be afraid): 7
Mantis (If they're praying,
it's a crime to kill them. But don't worry, ours are all
atheists): 6
Wasp (Like a hornet, except not really):
8
Hornet (Like a wasp, except not at all):
10
Python (They're not funny, because nobody is Monty):
7
TOTAL (a larger number,
that is often a combination of several smaller numbers): 44
IT'S
OVER!!!
I find your lack of activity
disturbing, CMDRs. So far, I've only received two squadron reports: Echo and
Python. To say nothing of the MSEs. I've talked to Jer Stryker, and
I understand his situation... but Frankie and JDF are supposed to be more
active! C'mon!
This week was filled with unique things, such as the Red Sox winning the
World Series, and me celebrating by shaving my head and drinking to
excess. As such, I myself haven't been very active either. Oh yeah,
there were midterms this week too. I hope next week is better for all of
us...
And
on that note, I must award the title of Squadron of the Month for October.
I know I've only been WC for two weeks, but...
The winner is
*suspense builds*
Echo Squadron! They've got the most activity
over the past couple of weeks. Congratz to Paco and all the
gang.
