Wing III Report # 8 (2001-12-04)

This report was submitted by LC Jahan Kalar

Greetings and welcome to another Wing III Weekly Report. Hmm, I'm not sure anything big happened... Maybe something, I don't know... Couldn't have been very memorable. Oh, yeah, there was that one little thing about WING III BEING AHEAD IN THE MASCOT POWER BATTLES. But that's not important :) What's important is that the other Wings are not ahead. But that doesn't mean we can sit around on our butts, we have to keep up our lead. Wing IV is close behind, and one of the other Wings could make a dramatic comeback. So get ready for the next round of the Mascot Power Battles, TIE Mission Design, and I hope you all participated in the graphic design round that ended today. But this should be in the report, so away we go!

Position Changes and Promotions
SL TK-8148 has joined Hey Squadron, bringing Hey's numbers up to 6.
Mayk Wolverine, our own Aleth Squadron Commander, was promoted to Captain for all his hard work as Aleth Commander and for his hard work when I was the Squadron Commander as well. Good job Captain!
Medals and Awards
LT Linoge received a CoB and an MoI
IWATS
LT Zekk Thyne completed the CBX course.
CPT Egg'Foo completed the AIM course.
LCM Eriond Kath'Razzit completed the ASP course.
Wing III News
Round 2 (XWA) of the Mascot Power Battles is over, and Wing III won the round. That puts Wing III in the lead, although not by a whole lot over Wing IV. Round 3 is also over and the results should be out pretty soon. Round 4 (Tie Mission Design) will be out soon, and I would like all of you to participate to keep out score up. If you don't know how to design a Tie Mission (I sure have no idea), you can take the IWATS Tie Mission Design Course (which I encourage all of you to do) here (http://www.imperialacademy.org/tiemiss/). Up to date MPB results are below.

Hey Squadron has a new homepage at http://www.geocities.com/lcmtvanoris/.
The Wing III Competition Design Competition has started. Remember, you have until the 15th of December to send me an original competition idea involving the whole Wing. The more creative, the better. If you have the best competition idea, you will win an IS-SR and the idea will be implemented in the near future as a Wing III Competition. I encourage all of you to send in your ideas, I promise not to laugh ;)
DarkFyre is the bartender in #Wing_III. Type !bar to get the command list. A big thanks to CM Maximus.
There is a sticky thread (always stays at the top) on the Wing III message board as a suggestion box. If you have a comment, complaint, suggestion that you want to share with the Wing as a whole or you think others might want to comment on it, put it there. This is sort of an experiment, hopefully you will all make good use of it. Please feel free to comment on the suggestion box in the suggestion box.
Daleth has a TC message board. It looks cool and stuff.
Daleth's homepage has changed to http://www25.brinkster.com/autoris/daleth.htm
Wing Commander Honor Guard update. The point system is a little more complex than I thought, so I have to work on it some more. But it will be done pretty soon, and when it's done the race for the Honor Guard will be on. If you don't remember what I'm talking about, see last week's Wing report.
I fixed www.wing3.net so that it actually works now (if not, please tell me). But it's getting a little out of date, which is ok because I'm revamping the page to be cooler, and stuff. But what we have works now.
The FCHG race is still going on, so fly battles and missions and stuff. I have a lot of BSFs to submit to the judge for the competition, so you're doing great, keep it up.
Recruting
I figure that this almost goes without saying, but it bears repeating. Although Wing III is currently the largest Wing on the Sovereign, 41 pilots is nothing to brag about. We can have a maximum of 73 pilots in our Wing (counting me and the squadron commanders). That means we have a lot of spaces we could fill. As you can probably tell, cadets aren't exactly pouring in, so I figure we need to be pro-active about it. If you post on a star wars message board, advertise the Tie Corps and offer to help people through training. If you are part of a star wars club in real life, let them know about us. Even though we are a pretty big club, most people won't just stumble onto the TC. I had no idea the TC even existed until a friend told me about it. It wasn't that I wasn't interested, because obviously I like the TC, it was that I didn't know it even existed. So get the word out, I'm sure you know lots of people that would love to be a part of Wing III, they just don't know it yet. But don't just spam message boards and e-mail lists, that won't win us more pilots. Just try recruiting a few people, because if each of you do that, and if only one person out of those few joins Wing III, we will have far more pilots than we can fit.

Numbers

Flag Officers - 1
Aleth - 11
Beth - 7
Gimel - 9
Daleth - 7
Hey - 6
Vav - 0
Total: 41

Other Stuff
I found this in an old Aleth Squadron Report I wrote, and apparently I said it, but it sounded a lot more thoughtful than I usually am, so it might bear repeating here, "With these three things, the ability to see what is right, the courage to do it, and the resolve to carry it through, there is no force in the universe that can stop you."
"You can fool too many of the people too much of the time."
That's all for now...until next time, shoot straight and faster than they do.

Bonus thing: Who can name the Star Wars book that I got the closing line for my Wing reports from?
