Congratulations to two Officers on their promotions to Commodore:

Tactical Officer on semi-leave - 04:06 - FA Striker [striker@tiecorps.org]
Well, this moment of the year is quite painful for me, I will take some kind of "semi-leave" for the next week. Email replies will be limited to important matters.

More newsletter cover contest stuff - 22:47 - SA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
More clues to the Newsletter cover contest have been revealed on the Executive Office homepage at http://www.kawolski.com. Many people are getting close, but so far nobody has gotten the theme correct and nobody has been able to describe what the things/people that don't belong in NL covers #74, #75, and #76 are.

Mission skipping... - 08:29 - FA Striker [striker@tiecorps.org]
..is only allowed in case of a bug preventing the mission from being completed, which is extremely rare. From now on I will strictly apply the current cheating policy, and I will cancel any BSF with some mission skipped where 1/ there is no mention of a bug or 2/ for which no bug report has been submitted (which are to be submitted before submitting the pilot file), without any notification (until the database supports such a nice feature); the concerned battle or mission will be simply removed from your combat record. Furthermore, I am seriously considering forbidding skipping missions for ANY reason, as I have noticed too many abuses of this policy. If a mission has got a high score, maybe should you consider the possibility that someone did complete it and thus that the mission can be completed.

Uniforms and banners - 18:39 - SA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
Just a quick update. The process of approving and rejecting uniforms on tiecorps.org is now the sole responsibility of the Operations Office. The process of approving and rejecting new banners on tiecorps.org is now the responsibility of the Flight Office.

If your banner won't load for some reason, please e-mail the Executive Officer Sector Admiral Kawolski a copy of the banner and a copy of the error message displayed. (If you get a generic 500 error, turn off "Show Friendly HTTP Error Messages" under Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Browsing and try again)

Design a bad guy competition - 22:20 - HA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
There is a new competition running, "Design a bad guy". Basically the idea is to design an enemy for the EH. The best will be selected for use in future competitions. For details, go to http://www.imperialacademy.org/comps/badguy/.

327 Battles, 300 Free Missions, for a total of 2,000 missions online... check out the latest TAC report for the celebrations.

WING NEWS

Wing VIII vs Wing V - The Results
First of I'd like to congradulate all pilots who participated in this comp. Next you'll be happy to know that we once again blew away the competition. Top Gun and Runners up medals will be awarded soon. Now for the results.

TTL Laserless Score: 1,080,863
Wing VIII Average: 98,260
with 11 pilots flying (90,071 with 12 pilots)

Top Gun: LC Indaro Gallia Laserless Total: 174,945
Runners Up: Pilot: CM Phalk Sturm Laserless Total: 139,850
-------------------------------
TTL Laserless Score: 379,547
Wing V Average: 94,886
with 4 pilots flying (31,628 with 12 flying)

Top Gun: CPT Benjamin Jahou Morgan Laserless Total: 142,008
Runners Up: CM Face Loran Laserless Total: 104,920

Note: the paranthesis shows the score if all 12 pilots had flown, so not to be confused with the real scores shown first. Congratz again Wing VIII good job! So you see we didn't have to much trouble. This make us at 4 wins - 1 loss for our Wing comp totals. Lets try not to go below 1 loss shall we? (RA Absolut Vodka)

Indeed, this was a good victory for us. Indaro Gallia doing the business for us and making sure that they wouldn't win the rematch. Phalk Sturm also did well, almost getting close to the highest total set by one of there pilots. A good result by all.

ECR Phase IV

Mell announced this earlier in the week and already a steady trickle of TFR's is hitting my inbox. These are due on the 10th December and it is one of my creations, TIE-FREE #182 that has been selected. Remember, We need to score as high as we possibly can to ensure victory in this round.

Having made the mission, I know just how tough it is. However, The hints I posted earlier in the week REALLY DO HELP. I knocked off a score of 74,000 without breaking a sweat. 50,000 is possible even if you keep the friendly fighters in the area. What we don't need however is super-high 'Maximum' scores that hardly anyone will reach. Since this round is based on a wing percentage of the high score, A lower high will suit us. To make the situation better for us, Callista has near enough maxed out the Challenge's score. Meaning that very few pilots on their ship will get close to it.

This morning I got a mail from RAF with a score of 55K. That is the current high we should be aiming for and not letting it get any higher.

Wing Incentives

Last week I institued a policy of awards for reaching different FCHG and IWATS levels. Saddam becoming the first person to profit from it by picking himself up a Bronze Star. Others were not so pleased so again, I must reiterate. I can not award these medals retrospectively else some one like Zystem Fryar will be wanting a Bronze Star, two Palpatine Crescents and two ISM's for his climb up the FCHG ladder. This is simply not possible to do. While I apologize to those who have a long time to wait till their next level, these awards started the day I took command and not before.

Squadron Colours

Last Week, I sent a mail to all the Commanders requesting their squadron colours. As yet, I have had no reply so I'll throw it open to you pilots.

(Orignal Mail) One Idea that I thought of while walking to the school to pick the kid up was Squadron Colours. These are two colours unique to your squadron (red/black; Blue/white; Gold/black) and are used when you win awards. The Colours are 'attached' to the award in question. (In the UK, The FA Cup has coloured ribbons attached to it.) This gives the squadron an easily recognisable signature and a kind of a sentimental reminder they are attached to that squadron (Since colours are more recognisable to the mind than words). I'll need you guys to get together with your squadrons and choose two colours (preferably with HTML Reference codes) for your squadrons.

There you go. Have a talk about it with your squad mates and get back to me.

Message Boards

Also requested from Kawolski this week was the creation of six Message Boards for all the squadrons. The Commanders and Flight Leaders being moderators of them. As yet, he hasn't done them... I think he's busy :P

Database

Most of my week has been dedicated to getting things up together the way I envisioned them. One of these being my Database for Colossus Statistics. It is almost done now. This will hold your squadrons history and several records for you (or your squadron) to aim at... Once I've finished it

As you can probably tell, Its been all work and no play this week (Hence why I ain't been online much)

REVIEWS

E-Mail
A brief reminder to all who use the Colossus Egroup. Do NOT forward junk mail to it or you will be removed from the system.

Interesting week on the Main Egroup, conversations dominated by ECR and HGK have sprang up and Arso is looking for a partner for the design a bad guy competition. Kayle Bayron returned, The papa wolf returning to his fold, and immediately discovered a problem with Windows 2000.

There was less activity on some of the other Egroups. Mu's Kalve Ryder seems to be the only one capable of posting anything on the Mu Egroup. All quiet on Nu Squadrons egroup. I don't appear to be on Pi's Egroup at all , Omicron's has died and Eta appear to use their egroup to distrubute their reports.. and nothing else.

However, Iota Squadrons egroup is bursting with life. Seeing multiple posts from several different pilots. Shadd, Kayle Bayron and Aidan Pryde doing most of the communiction. Great work guys!!

Message Boards
Kayle Bayron's return to the Colossus caused a series of posts on our wing message board. Some familiar faces popped in to say hi too. The topic of 'You Know you've played to much Tie Fighter when...' Also recieved posts this week.. A big long post from me. Wap Eal has a windows XP problem and would appreciate any help you can give on the subject.

Websites
Two bits of news this week. Absolut Vodka continues 'fiddling' with the ISDColossus.com domain and Aidan Pryde has put together a new look Iota Website. Good work fella!!

IRC Chat
Having not had a lot of spare time this week, I haven't been in chat as much as I had hoped. However, While I might not be able to chat, others are. Particularly Daniel Klivian, Zystem Fryar and Kalve Ryder who all chatted so much this week, Im beginning to think they are girls...
The top ten as of 10.30pm last night was...
1. `Klivian (61707) 2. Zysfryar (54288) 3. Dare [Kalve Ryder] (51184) 4. `M [Mell] (40018) 5. `D [Drake] (36591) 6. AbsolutV (26183)
7. Trowa(20329) 8. Darknyte (18692) 9. LT_Zept (16754) 10. Ace003 (13331)

Quote of the week comes from last night...

(`AD) I sometimes get headaches that feel like a thunderbolt is coming out of my ears
(`Drake) Thats your brain escaping :P

See something funny? Send it in..

IWATS
Very little activity this week on the IWATS front....

 Trowa - AIM, XAM
 Phalk Sturm - VBS
 Daniel Klivian - VBS

STATISTICS

Activity this week was dominated by one man. Saddam of Pi Squadron proving that one man can make a difference. Having already picked up a Bronze Star for passing 500 FCHG points, he now gets one for an outstanding set of figures for a week. He also claims the Pilot of the Week award for an amazing peice of work.

But the question is, Will Indaro and Talas have done enough to hold off the challenge of Pi??...

Pilot of the Week

1st Saadam Pi Squadron 48 BSF's , 147 Missions

BS
2nd Indaro Gallia Eta Squadron 7 BSF's, 36 Missions

ISM
3rd Talas Eta Squadron 6 BSFs, 31 Missions

ISM
4th Daniel Klivian Omicron Squadron 3 BSFs, 16 Missions
5th Aidan Pryde Iota Squadron 2 BSFs, 11 Missions

Incredible.....

Pilot of the Month

1st Wap Eal Eta Squadron 35 BSF's , 186 Missions
2nd Zystem Fryar Pi Squadron 35 BSF's, 178 Missions
3rd Saadam Pi Squadron 47 BSFs, 136 Missions
4th Talas Eta Squadron 41 BSFs, 93 Missions
5th Phalk Sturm Eta Squadron 12 BSFs, 60 Missions

So we have a new month and already some people have some totals on the board. However, last months Pilot of the month stakes goes to Wap Eal for a blitz just before I became Wing Commander. Just pipping out Zystem Fryar and Saadam.

Squadron of the Week
1st  Pi Squadron 48 BSFs, 147 Missions 43
2nd  Eta Squadron 17 BSFs, 84 Missions 43
3rd  Omicron Squadron 4 BSFs, 20 Missions 43
4th  Nu Squadron 4 BSFs, 19 Missions 43
5th  Mu Squadron 4 BSFs, 17 Missions 43
6th  Iota Squadron 2 BSFs, 11 Missions 43

After Saadam's blitz, it is no small wonder that Pi are top of the tree again... But who would gain the coveted squadron of the month award....

Squadron of the Month

1st  Eta Squadron 86 BSFs, 406 Missions 43
2nd  Pi Squadron 99 BSFs, 388 Missions 43
3rd  Nu Squadron 40 BSFs, 175 Missions 43
4th  Omicron Squadron 35 BSFs, 100 Missions 43
5th  Mu Squadron 37 BSFs, 93 Missions 43
6th  Iota Squadron 15 BSFs, 52 Missions 43

So Eta hold off the challenge of Pi and take the Squadron of the Month Award. A big thank you to Absolut Vodka whose assistance in the preparation of these statistics proved invaluable.

RECRUITMENT

 Mu Squadron 43
 Nu Squadron  61
 Pi Squadron 43
 Omicron Squadron 43
 Iota Squadron 6 1
 Eta Squadron 43
 WING TOTAL 6 2

This week, Mu Squadron lost Janus who has been a big help to the squadron over the last few months, But Iota gained Kayle Bayron who will be a great help. Aidrian Tepes also left us for the reserves from Nu Squadron and Anthony Starr was AWOL'd. Gartho Vanzanda joined Mu to replace Janus

Mark Scheuler appears to be the only commander who is actively recruiting as he has sent out seven mails to prospective pilots using the Cadet Auto-Mailer.

Overall the wing lost two pilots.. Which isn't to bad with all the comings and goings that have been happening.

NAME / E-MAIL CHANGES
Haven't seen any this week

SQUADRON SUMMARIES

Mu Squadron
Slow week from Mu this week characterised by a lot of IRC Chatter from Kalve Ryder. C'Mon Mu.. You can do it.. You were doing it well when I was last Wing Commander...

Nu Squadron
If they follow they're commanders example, Nu would be great. Mark Scheuler has been doing everything this week and although crippled by a few key abscentee's, Nu should be at least doing something.. This week they finished fourth in the squadron of the week stakes purely through Mark's effort, just imagine what they could do if they tried..

Pi Squadron
Dominated by one person this week, Namely Saadam for his outstanding activity. I know Zystem Fryar had a tough week and RAF is out of the country a lot of the time but what about the rest of you? Are you a one-man squadron?
Omicron Squadron
A couple of inactives in Omicron are not helping them. Daniel Klivian is one of our brightest hopes for the Colossus. Do the man a favour and work with him!

Iota Squadron
Lots of Talking in this squadron this week and a whopping load of emails from their Egroup in my inbox. But alas, Disappointing flight figures. Prove that you can do more besides talk and get behind the stick guys!!

Eta Squadron
Good General activity this week earn Eta the Squadron of the Week award, not because they flew lots but because Everybody did something. Teamwork is vitally important and the assassins appear to be doing it extremely well.. Congrats Guys

MISCELLANEOUS
At the end of the first week back in the hot seat and I am already pulling my hair out. But it feels good
If there is anything I have missed, shoot me :P
