Wing I Report # 9 (2001-12-23)

This report was submitted by COL Firebird

Pilots of Wing I:

Three pieces of news tonight and then I'll let you get to the fun
stuff at the bottom of the report :)

First off... I am aware of the problems there have been with the
mailing list. They are more widespread thatn just with my server, and
unfortunately there's absolutely nothing I can do to fix it until my
real domain name at divineright.org gets set up properly. When that
will be, I have no idea. Until then if you can't get email to your
CMDR or myself, try IRC, AIM, ICQ, or MSN... I'm on all four of those
on a regular basis. My contact information is at the very bottom of
this email.

For the technically inclined, the problem with my teleport.com email
address is that Earthlink dropped the teleport.com DNS entry and it no
longer is resolvable. DHS seems to have also dropped apn.dhs.org out
of its DNS table too, so if you can't get it to resolve, try using the
IP address: 216.26.65.80

As a result of this DNS problem, I am changing my primary email
address from keeler@teleport.com to scion@apn.dhs.org until
divineright.org becomes active. Either address should still work if
the planets are aligned properly.

The second exciting piece of news tonight is that I have an initial
version of the new Wing I website working! You should go visit it at
http://apn.dhs.org/wing1 because it is lonely and I spent more than 20
hours working on it last night. Get in touch with me one way or
another and let me know what you think about it.

Finally, the moment some of you have been waiting for... the Wing
Commander's Own for January! It was a tough decision for many reasons.
Most every squadron seems to have a comparable level of activity, and
all the CMDRs are very active at this time trying to motivate their
squadrons. While there is certainly still quite a bit of room for
improvement, I see a lot of great work coming out of every squadron
right now. The squadron that stands out, however, has a CMDR who is
supremely active as well as pilots who are almost as active as he is.
I am proud to award the WC's Own for January 2002 to Alpha Squadron!
Congratulations!

I would like to give kudos to Delta and Lambda as well for coming in
as very close seconds. Keep up the good work!
