WING I NEWS:
1. Wing I vs. Wing IV: We will be engaging Wing IV in a month-long
competition. We'll be flying Bounty Hunters Guild battle #02. The deadline (new) is April 4th. The wing with the highest total score will determine the winner. The pilot with the highest score will earn an Iron Star w/Silver Wings, runner-up will get an Iron Star w/Bronze Wings.

Participating with Wing I will be FA AbsoluteK, a former member of Wing I (yay!). Flying alongside Wing IV will be former Yodder and Tether, Major Halcyon.

Please note: the squadron with the most submissions (Wing I vs. Wing IV *and* Sovereign Month of IWATS) will become Wing Commander's Own for the next month! Delta and Epsilon Squadrons will fly together during this competition, LC Mobiles is in charge.

2. Wing Commander's Own for the month of March:
Something I forgot in my last report... it is Gamma Squadron, again!
Congratulations but, Alpha and Beta Squadrons are coming closer and closer... ;)

3. Thanks to TAC/AD Starlion we're able to start a brand new Wing I Run-on. His wonderful Prologue is attached below. To be continued...

4. The Wing I nurse position is still open. Please send your applications to Wing Doctor LCM Kaleel Tempus (korn_328@hotmail.com) and don't forget to CC me.

5. Major competitions schedule: June - Wing I vs. the remnants of Wing V... >:)

6. The project "Month of Activity" is provisionally scheduled for April 2001. MAJ Murad Ibn Mark and LCM Kaleel Tempus are still working on some details.

7. I repeat: Our mailing list (wing_i@ehnet.org) is completely outdated. We need a new one (guy or girl) to take care of all updates ASAP. Why do you think I'm asking you, eh?... >:P

8. The Wing I and SSSD Sovereign domains are still not updated. FA AbsoluteK has offered his help to jazz up both news sections (submit news, etc.). The new Wing I HQ is almost ready, estimated launch date is next Sunday, March 18th. I need two or three test-surfers to check all pages (broken links, missing pieces, etc.). Anyone interested?

Also, I'm thinking about a new URL for Wing I. Do we still want this TSX forwarder? Feel free to vote (until March 16th):

Pulp Fiction - Ezekiel 25:17.
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities
of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the
name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Wing I Run-On 2001
Prologue - By former Vice Admiral StarLion

The Tactical office was quiet... too quiet. Tactical Officer Striker had disappeared a few days ago, mumbling something about a white rabbit and being quite late. Since then, the office had done very little work. No great battle plans moved through, and a large pile on Striker's desk would be a sobering welcome-home when he returned. Vice Admiral StarLion crossed the office and looked out the viewport on the SSSD Sovereign, and wondered not for the first time whether it WOULD be a welcome-home, or a welcome-new-TAC. Hints had been dropped that if Striker wasn't found soon, a new Tactical officer had to be
chosen.

A spark of light interrupted StarLion's thought. Frowning, he hit a switch that queried the Sovereign's sensors as to the designation of the craft. The computer's voice responded in monotone.
"T-Wing class Starfighter. Designation Arrow-4. Unknown IFF Code."
As the ship closed on the Sovereign, a pair of TIE Interceptors shot out from one of the Sov's bays, to escort or destroy, StarLion couldn't be sure.
Glancing closer, he could make out that the ship's outline was changing. No, he corrected himself... the ship is tumbling out of control. The TIE's suddenly broke off, and the ship careened on. Checking a screen to his right, StarLion could see the ship would cleanly miss the Sovereign, but that didn't answer why it was here.

Suddenly, the craft jerked itself out of it's stumble, and pointed straight at the Sovereign, fired a single green-hued warhead, and then immediately turned upwards and jumped to hyperspace before the Sovereign's guns could be warmed up. StarLion watched, as the warhead lazily made it's way towards the Sovereign. When it reached the shields, instead of an explosion... the warhead seemed to melt. It seemed weird, but the bridge reported no negative effects of the warheads.

"Whatever new weapon they tried to use, it didn't work... " StarLion didn't get to finish his thought as his console beeped repeatedly. Dozens of T-Wings were dropping from hyperspace, all from the same approximate area, and as they decelerated, they began to slam into the Sovereign's shields.

When the last, 27 in all, had finished in a ball of flame, the Sovereign's shields still stood, however most of the crew were not, the suddenness of the impacts catching them all off guard. StarLion dug his way out of the mess of papers that had buried him from Striker's desk, and slapped the comlink. "Get me General Wolly up here, NOW!"

Wolly entered the Tactical Office a few minutes later, in a rather
hastily-dressed uniform, stopping short at the utterly trashed state of the office.
"Sorry Star... 'jolts knocked me out of bed... looks like Wing I's still in one piece though."
"Good to hear... and we may need them. Whatever attack they used on us, it was very effective. If it hadn't been the Sovereign they targeted..."
StarLion looked at his old friend.
"We don't know it was organized Star...."
"Sure it was... that many ships, colliding that close? Had to be planned."
"Ok, but the Sov's a pretty big target. You can't predict they'll be able to use that tactic against a smaller ship."
StarLion considered that for a minute.
"No," he said finally, "it's got to be something to do with that warhead we got hit with. I want Wing I to find out what's going on out there, wherever there is, and stop it before they use it again, perhaps with better results. The Sovereign's going to be taking on a few repairs and refurbishments, so I'm temporarily assigning you to the FRG Hammer's Fury,"
Wolly opened his mouth to protest the move, but StarLion continued to talk.
"I will be joining you myself to help oversee this operation. Lord knows I need SOMETHING to do around here," He grinned lop-sided, "Don't worry. I'll have the cantina stocked from the Sovereign."
Wolly couldn't help but smile, knowing the Wing I pilots, like most pilots, spent a good amount of their time in the cantina, probably more time than they spent in their ships.
"Just like the old times... "
"'cept I won't be in the cockpit, and you wont be telling me to stop showing off!"
Both men laughed, as the Frigate lurched into view.
Wolly stepped toward the doorway, looking to find his commanders.
"Looks like our ride's here... We'll leave tomorrow... try and keep them sober enough to at least get their fighters from the Sov to the Fury, ok?"
"Deal, but no promises after that!" Wolly called as the door to the office closed behind him.
StarLion turned to look out at the Fury, and space beyond that.
"So... it begins... whoever did this to the Sovereign better watch out for the Fury.

Meanwhile, a green streak shot into the Wing I fighter bays...
