A. Wing I has a pending competition against Wing II!
It is on hold until Major Mike works out the scheduling with General Ford.
B. Well I’m back on line, so I challenge you all to a Wing Commander vs the Wing comp. You
choose the free mission. I have put in for an official comp status, and if this passes then those
that defeat me will win an IS-BW, but we’ll see in the mean time the current standings are:

Next battle: 1730 hours Eastern, on Monday the 13th of May, #project_faithful. All XWA and
TIE pilots wishing to participate should arrive in the channel at that time. Even if you can't fly or
don't end up flying, show up and root on the Sov forces!

2. WING NEWS AND STATUS
A. MSE’s and Reports
I have not been receiving squadron weekly reports in time for me to send out my reports on
Sunday morning, or for that matter even Monday morning. This is tantamount to insurrection
and I will not have this. If you can not put out your reports in a timely manner, you are not
fulfilling all of your duties to your squadron and this wing.

B. Communications
1 - VA Proton has called for a ship wide AWOL check. If you still want to play, contact your
commander.
2 - As I have just recently discovered, my firm has decided not to pay for hotel rooms between
work sessions (oh well, you can’t always have cake and icecream....). What this means for the
wing is that every other week, I will be out of contact for 4 or more days. However, I will
always be able to contact you EVERY Monday and Tuesday, unless I have to go camp while
working.
It is imperative that you all let me know if I am failing you in my duties as Wing Commander, as
this schedule really makes me uneasy that I’m not “baby-sitting” you all enough and am forcing
too much work on our esteemed Major Mike.
Thank you to all that responded to my earlier request for input on this matter.

3. Wing/Squadron Communications.
I’ve got an open IM policy. If you see me online, you can chat with me.
I’m at grvsmith for AIM, grvsmith@hotmail for MSM, Frideger2001 for Yahoo Messenger, and
I do have ICQ, but rarely use, and will “”“”re re re”“” download mIRC and ask for my password
again (I hate computer crashes....).
At this time I have no set wing meeting and do not know of set squadron meetings on IRC.
4. SOVEREIGN NEWS/TC/EH News.
1 - The results of the Sov vs. BG battle are in. The BattleGroups finding
themselves face-to-face with most of the Sovereign forces, including the
mighty Sov herself, developed a desperate plan, to possibly win the game, or
at least turn the tide. Unable to escape, they instead turned the ISD
Immortal around, launched all fighters in close formation, and drove towards
the Sovereign, ignoring all else. The Sov's fighters held fast, taking out
the Immortal, and nearly all that accompanied her. A single Frigate, holding
back, with an escorting squadron, survived, and somehow a full squadron of
fighters came back from the assault, after it was thought lost. The
Sovereign forces did lose three fighters.
Turn Five shows several more planets captured, the BGs now have three, the
Sov has three also.
2 - The Sovereign Policy has been updated to include the following requirement for squadron
commanders:
5) Minimum mandatory tour of duty for squadron commanders. An officer who becomes a
squadron commander aboard the SSSD Sovereign agrees to commit to a minimum TOD of four
months. This requirement ensures that all CMDR applicants are serious about it and willing to
do the job necessary. It takes time to build continuity in a squadron, and effectiveness in
squadron command is not achieved if the CMDR leaves before he or she has completed a basic
TOD. This policy also prevents the unsavory and thankfully rare tactic of someone applying for
a CMDR job only intending to hang around long enough for the usually commensurate rank
promotion. Each new CMDR with the rank of Commander is expected to work hard and
excellently and therefore can expect to be promoted to Captain and then Major by the end of the
four-month TOD if performance is at a high level. If a CMDR chooses to step down before the
end of the four-month tour, rank upon transfer will revert to the pre-appointment rank. A final
note: The TOD requirement is not an automatic pass to loaf through four months as a CMDR.
Just as before, an inactive CMDR can expect to be removed quickly.
5. WING I STANDING ORDERS.
A. Communications
i. All members are required to maintain contact with their assigned unit in the TIE Corps with at
least ONE email per month. (This is paraphrased from the TIE Corps Rules and Regulations).
ii. All official communications opening with the term
ID/signature line require a response. This is mandatory on a one link up manner. FL respond to
CMDR/FL, CMDR respond to WC, etc.
iii. The Wing I egroup mailing list is an official resource for orders and news of the wing.
However, until this order is rescinded it is also to be used for fun and games. Those that have
problem with the amount of mail that this generates are encouraged to switch their mailing
preference to either daily digest or read on the web.
(DO NOT USE THE egroup TO RESPOND TO OFFICIAL MAIL, REPLY TO THE SENDER!)
iiii. All members of the wing are encouraged (not required) to get AIM, Yahoo Messenger,
MSM, ICQ or mIRC. I have all of these and shall show up now and then on mIRC, but
unfortunately my RL job entails that I shall not be able to make meetings except on a biweekly
basis.
B. Flight Duties
i. At this time, pilots are encouraged to participate in all open competitions and also to do at
least one independent TIE Free Mission a month. ((Again, this is not required.))
C. Reporting Duties.
i. Squadron Commanders are required to submit weekly reports no later than Sunday morning at
11:59am Eastern Standard Time.
ii. Squadron Commanders are required to submit Monthly Squadron Evaluations no later than
the last day of each calendar month.
