Wing XIII Report # 16 (2002-07-06)

This report was submitted by LC Wes Janson

<<SALUTE>>

Holy crap, I must be setting a record. :P A string of reports in on time. :P
Which brings me to my next point - I strongly dislike writing this thing out and going through the motions every time. Is there anyone out there who'd be interested in making a report template in HTML for me? I could try to do it myself via Dreamweaver or something, but I figured I'd offer you all the chance to earn some medals. :)

Hmm... no one wrote any fiction. :P So I'll re-send the characters, and will now award an IS-BR for anyone who gets their Mafia fiction in this Report. :) How's that for incentive?

Grey Wolf Mafia:
Capo Crimini: Don W. "The Wrench" Janson
Capo Bastone (2IC): Hev "The Bat" Randrowan
Consigliere (Advisor): Mage "The Moose"
Caporegime (Similar to Lieutenants): Chrissy, "T-Horny" Thorn, Thomas "The Kid" Solo, "Odin" Stone, Woobee "The Chainsaw" (Who remembers that? :P), Gilad "Boomo" Pellaeon
Sgarrista (Foot soldiers - Made men of the Mafia): The Flight Leaders
Piciotto (Button Men - lower-ranking soldiers; enforcers): The Flight Members
Giovane D'Honore (Honorary members): Former GW staff
Custom Vehicles: Black, modified shuttles. (GTA3 - Take the Mafia Sentinel and think of a Lambda like that. :P)
Clothes: Dark black suits, white pinstripes, fedoras, gold watches/watch chains

The Vanguard Syndicate:
Leader: Ekim "Major Payne" Yellek
Ships: Chromed out Z-95 Headhunters
Clothing: Auroran Prime T-Shirts (Think of the Star Wars version of the Hawaiian shirt. :P)

The South Side Intrepids:
Leader: "Big Purple Machine" Brakka, Wil Striker (Sorry Wil, I can't think up a nickname. :P)
Ships: Big, stolen Stormtrooper Transports - painted red and black, and slightly faster than normal
Clothing: Red and black hoodies

There... see what y'all can do. :P

-=News=-

1) Competition Still Looking for Particpants!
Grey Wolf Chatterbox Season 1 is still waiting for TWO SQUADRONS to join up! The general gist of the competition is that two Squadrons both get signed up to one mailing list (gw_chatterbox@yahoogroups.com), and spend two weeks spamming the list silly. At the end, the judge(s) count the mails from each pilot and announce a winning Squadron and Pilot. Medals for both, of course. :) HAVE YOUR CMDRs E-MAIL ME!

2) Weekly Competitions:
Pilot of the Week: Hands down... LCM Peh! His activity is stunning. He's just ripping it up with his BSFs... absolutely awesome, Peh! Way to go! IS-SR on it's way, plus you get to add [K-Wing : Equilibrium] to your ID Line for one week! Congrats and keep it up!
Scholar of the Week: LCM Darth Angelus and LT Jeric Lancer! Both tied at... well, one. I'll chalk this one up to being summer, and hope to see more IWATS Courses next week. ;)
Squadron of the Week: Not alot of debate this week... hands down, to Vortex Squadron! Steady activity from several of the members, which leads to this title! Add it to your ID Lines, gents. :)

3) ANOTHER IS3 Battle!
This one is ALOT closer... matter of fact, we're outnumbered again (thanks to pathetic intel reports from the "probes." Anyone seeing a trend?) We'll need EVERYONE we can get out there for support! Everyone show up, Sunday at noon in #project_faithful and let's show these Sov pukes who's who around here, eh?

4) FCHG Competition!
http://www.emperorshammer.net/dgm/compdetails.asp?ID=1864 <-- Go there. Learn it, love it, play! :) Mag's got it running, and lemme tell you - even I'm going to be coming out and flying some more. :) (I've actually flown a battle this week! One that was BSFed, matter of fact. Finished 85 some odd missions too with plenty more to come. :P Are you ready, Az? :P)

5) Grey Wolf Mission Challenge!
This one is of my own design. It's time to push ourselves to the limits... I've challenged the Grey Wolf and her pilots to fly more than 3000 missions in one month. I'll be flying hard for this one too, and will be pouring on the effort in the flight sims. I've worked it out - I have 863 more missions to fly in the compendium... now if I can do that this summer (Pfft, no challenge. :P) then I should easily be able to help muscle us up. :)
And yes, there are medals. :) If you fly 25-100 missions (and we achieve our goal), you'll earn yourself an ISM. 101-200 Missions, you'll earn yourself a PC. 200 and up will earn you a shiney Bronze Star! And if you want to be really cool and can fly say... more than 500 missions for this, I'll see to it you get something infinitely shinier! (Note: These awards in NO WAY replace MSE medals. They're simply an addition to the MSEs. :))
Let's fly hard and show the TC we still have what it takes, eh Wolf Pack?

6) Hydroball League!
Well, the one I was going to enter Team Grey Wolf in to has died in a sense - a couple of the teams went AWOL. So we may still have a chance in getting in! If all else fails, I've "completed" a website (read: Low quality. :P) for an EH Hydroball League! Which means, everyone with JK2:JO will be able to show off their Hydroball talents to the rest of the EH (Expect Team Grey Wolf to own. :P And we have a website!! :P). Anyone interested in redoing the site, please contact me. I'll send you the URL - meaning, all I really want you to do is redo it pretty like, not change the content. :) E-mai me. :)

7) Grey Wolf Combat Academy!
The website is nearly done, and looking great. I just need to get my info to Hev... I don't know when I'll be able to do that, but I'll try soon Hev. We'll send the info to the EGroup when it's ready.

8) Wing Commander Goes on Leave.
From the 13th to the 20th of this month, I'll be at Elkhorn (Near Wasagaming, in Riding Mountain National Park for anyone who knows anything about Manitoba. :P) with my friend and his family. And just so you know, I'll be on leave for three weeks in August (the first three) so I can go to the lake with my family and cousins. I won't be gone for the entire 3 weeks, as I'll be coming in once in a while (though it won't be everyday). So you should all still hear from me.

9) CMDR Promotion!
I'd like to pass on the good news... PhoenixCMDR (Mage), was promoted to the rank of Captain after 19-months as a Commander just this week! BIG congrats Mag (and yes, I know it'll take some getting used to. :P)
Drinks are on the Field Captain. :P

I'll attribute this to it being summer vacation. Let's try to pick it up though, eh? :)

SL Subu Jamion --> PLT Daedalus to Vortex 1-3! Welcome to the ship!

I'm checking the DB soon... expect this section to fill up soonish. :)

-=Final Thoughts=-

Most of the ship is on leave it seems - so enjoy it. :) It's been an eery couple of days on the decks of the Grey Wolf. Everyone who goes someplace, make sure to take care of yourself and come back rested, safe, and healthy! Anyone who gets hurt, I'll come and get you. ;)
Couple of big competitions going on - let's get in to them, and dig in hard. Let's get some serious participation, and end this month strong!
EH Hydroball League starting! Those with JK2, get the Mod, and get your teams together (4 members). I'll get you the URL once I get a decent website up. :)
Sadly, no Uber-quote of the Uber-week this time. Nothing amused me sufficiently. :P

And the final point of the week: I'm going to be working on Wing XIII Standing Orders (I'm going to try to find the current ones, and if not, I'll write them from scratch). The one thing though I will add right now is this:

W13 SO #1: Squadron competitions are a good thing. On an average month, I'd like to see each Squadron running as many small competitions (flying, fiction, etc) as they possibly can.

Anyone have anything they'd like to see added, mail me.
Which reminds me - I've dug up the Wing 13 CMDR FAQs VA Khadgar wrote up. So I'll send those out to our CMDRs ASAP (with some revisions). :)

Thats it! Have a good week, and take care of yourselves!

Thanks,
Lieutenant Colonel Wes Janson
