Wing News

My report is late, yes I know. I was away doing another one of those medical tests that takes 24 hours to do. In the long run it'll help me out with a certain amount of $$$$ since I'm still a student. But anyways, I'm back home and happy to do the report once again.

Important news this week, but once again no major flying....yet!
Psi CMDR has been chosen: After about a week of pondering who our next Psi CMDR would be, I have to say that it was a difficult and long process, indeed. I had about 5 applicants come to me. While all had very good applications there was one that I could not refuse. Everyone welcome CM Kronar from the elite Omega Squadron. Kronar will make a very fine addition to Psi and Wing II. He has been with the TieCorps for over three years and has been a very dedicated Sovereign pilot. Welcome aboard Kronar and congratulations.
Wing II Mission Voting Competition: Boys and girls, I have a new competition in the works and hopefully it will kick off at least by next monday, but that's just me hoping. I will be running a competition very similar to the Inkwolf Raid competition which we flew about a year and a half ago http://www.inkwolfraid.50megs.com
But this, boys and girls, will be very different. Instead of me deciding what the mission will consist of, the entire wing will get to decide what the best course of action will be for a particular mission. I will give the wing a setup situation based on a plotline supplied by MAJ Seth, who is helping me with this competition. From there, everyone, and I mean everyone, can send me an email on what the best course of action is for the wing to take to overcome a mission. I will then take the best three suggestions and put them on a forum in which everyone will get to vote for the best course of action. From there, I will take that most voted suggestion and turn it into an actual mission which we will all get to fly for our competition. There will be about 4 to 6 missions, depending on how the plotline goes.
I hope everyone will enjoy this because this gives everyone the oppurtunity to help with mission ideas as well as actually flying them.

Medals Galore!: The new OPS, Foley, has taken the medal making machine and has approved nearly 20 Wing II medals. We are simply flooded with them. There will be a medal pool swimming party later at #airlock54 =P
Promotions on hold: It seems that while our medals all went through, the rank promotions will have to be put on hold until a new Flight Officer is chosen. Any ideas who that might be? I think I might know who it might be but I'll wait and see.
Rho vs Sin?: I'm not entirely sure but there are rumors, and trash talking, that a possible match will occur between Rho and Sin. Will one squadron totally step down from this and continue to take the trash talking, or will there actually be a match?

Internet Office Assitant Needed

The Internet Office would like to heartily congratulate our very own Alex Foley upon his appointment as the new Operations Officer. However, we're also sad to see him leave his stellar career as IOA. Obviously, that means I require a replacement. This IOA position that needs to be filled is a rather important one, with many duties. However, it can be the most rewarding (as Alex Foley can testify...) as well. Some primary duties will include:
Being responsible for finding a SOTW and poll every week
Having initiative to start new projects and see them out to completion
Assisting in EHW development (preferably on the PHP side)
Working closely with a variety of CS members
Must have a strong IRC presence.
Must have PHP experience (usually I don't mandate this, and I'll even accept ASP, but in this one case it matters)
Graphics capability desirable, but not necessary
If you feel you are qualified for this position, please apply to me (ari@tiecorps.org). Being an IOA means you'll be exposed to a lot of the fleet, not just TC, so you should have a personable and confident character. It also means you'll be working on some of the more important projects going on in the fleet. I will accept requests to transfer to full-time IOA (in which case I have promotion authority) if the successful applicant so desires. Please include 1 or 2 references in your application, as well as a minimum of 2-3 examples of your PHP and/or graphics work. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.

Be familar with primary reference materials (Training Manual, etc)
Be familar with primary TIE Corps and Emperor's Hammer webpages (Emperor's Hammer domain, TIE Corps domain, TIE Corps roster, message board, etc)
Submissions for the Emperor's Hammer Newsletter (sent to the Executive Officer)
Post/read the Emperor's Hammer message boards (where possible)
Participate in competitions (where possible)
Attend on-line meetings (where possible)
Online Requirements: Moderate. Most of a Wing Commander's work will be off-line in the form of reviewing various Medal requests, verification of mission completions, etc. However, a Wing Commander must be present occasionally on-line to post messages on message boards. The Wing Commander must keep in contact with the six Squadron Commanders in his wing and make sure the Squadrons are active. In addition, the email load of a Wing Commander is rather heavy, with response times expected to be 24-48 hours. (average 7-12 hours/week)
Applications for the position go to Admiral Darksaber and Vice Admiral SickMan before the end of next week.
