Firstly, I'd like to give a belated welcome to LT Tirna Q'jira, who has recently joined Beta Squadron. Our newest LT has already made a promising start, creating an INPR and flying 6 missions. Welcome aboard!
Big Congratulations to Commander Serin Jansj, who has been rocking my sector with his stupendous activity. Fifteen Battles and six Free Missions do not lie. This Commander is for real.
Contributions for the Torus Simulator and Communications Initiative have been particularly strong - I have 8 submissions from Beta Squadron alone. They're well on track to being named WC's Own, so it's up to the squads to catch them up :-) Details for the competitions are included below, there is still a few days left to participate!
TC News
As a result of low numbers, the ISD Subjugator has been decommissioned. All remaining personnel have been transferred to the SSD Avenger. Speaking of the Avenger, it now has a new COM. Congratulations RA Kane Reese!
The Colossus also has a new COM, RA Angel, and Wing XIX has a new WC, LC Mousedroid - and to shake things up a little more, the Relentless Commodore Position and Wing VII Wing Commander position is open for applications!
The Training Officer is also looking for potential professors for IWATS courses.

Wing One Communications Inititative
End Date: 7th March
Missions/Battles: None. MSN Messenger Required.
Medals: IS-SR to highest number of *players* played, IS-BR to highest number of wins.
Huh?: In an attempt to get the Wing talking to each other during rec time - the Wing Commander has augmented some of the communications terminals with... suspicious software, which allows pilots (among other things) to challenge each other to a variety of games. Pilots are required to email screenshots of their victories over their comrades to the WC, being sure to cc the other 'combatant'. All MSN games are eligible for submission.
Why?: If we get everyone on MSN, we have a nifty new way to get pilots from different squadrons in contact with each other. I will create a directory with a list of players you can challenge. Also, playing games against each other using this software isn't all that tricky, and doesn't require uber net connections, giving everyone the chance to mix it up with their wingmates.

Medals: Iron Star Silver Wings to highest score, Iron Star Bronze Wings to 2nd place
Huh?: As one of his first Wing Initiatives, the new WC has installed a Torus Trooper simulator in the Wing I Cantina to assess(and improve) pilot reaction times. Pilots need to send a screenshot of their highscore to the WC to be considered for reward, as the data can be used to evaluate pilot strengths and weaknesses.
Why?: I've heard talk that people are getting tired of flying the same platforms day in and day out. Thusly, we mix things up a little :-P

Promotions and Medals
LT Tirna Q'jira - Promoted to Lieutenant
Reason: Tirna Q'jira has been very active as of late, flying TIE-TC Battle #8, as well as completing her Imperial Navy Pilot Record. She is very vocal in suggestions and feedback and represents a member who truly cares about her squadron. It is for these reasons that I would like to request that she be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant from Sub-Lieutenant.

This is more like it! Multiple submissions by multiple pilots to multiple competitions. As always, the Commander's are leading from the front, but we're beginning to see the emergence of new faces (and some more experienced ones :) which is a very, very good sign. I'm proud of everyone who has participated so far, and the tangible rewards will be on their way shortly. Judging by this week at least, Wing One is on the comeback trail. Keep up the effort, because this Wing is going places for the first time, in a long time! :-)
