Wing XIII Wing Report #2
January 16th, 2005

<*Salute*>

Well...hello again Wing XIII. It's been a week already, and boy has it flown. I've met more people from the wing, there has (and will be) some membership and status changes over the week, and of course....SC VII has started! I've been pretty busy behind the scenes and sorting out a few things also, but it's not been too strenuous, so I've had a good 'reintroduction' to command and all it's duties and perks. All in all I'm completely settled in nicely, as is my 'companion', ex-Tau barmaid Chloe..say hi to everyone Chloe ;)

Unfortunately not everything has been rosy. I've had a lukewarm reception to the activity scan I announced in my last report, with maybe 1/3 of the wing replying, which will be a precursor to a few required changes in the wing. Don't worry too much though....I'm not talking about massive reform (Yoda would kill me :P), just a few GWSOoM-approved 'dead weight removal' measures. I'm happy with the fact that at least all the CMDR's replied...most of whom were more than ready and had well laid plans for SC VII. I've still not received WSR's from all CMDRs as yet, so anyone who still owes me one (or two now), please get them to me ASAP.

Anyway, enough rambling....onto the report!

Fleet News;
 - There is now a SHIZERLOAD of PROF positions needing to be filled at the Imperial Academy. If your interested, send in a full application to GA Astatine at
fc@emperorshammer.org with the subject 'I can teach!'. The open IWATS Courses are: AIM, ASP, BitchX, CSS, Flash, Graphics, History, Javascript, mIRC, Rebellion Tactics, SWGB, VB Script, XML and XWA Mission design.
 - Apparently there has been a bit of mission skipping going on in the fleet lately, and TAC Frodo has decided to put his size 6 foot down and put a stop to it. I do hope noone from the GW is guilty of submitting battles with skipped missions, however usually accomodations can be made if there is a bug preventing you from completing a mission. If this is the case....make sure to alert your CMDR, and CMDR's....make sure to put it in the comments when you BSF so Frodo can consider it and decide whether to delete the PLT or not.
 - The Aggressor Skirmish Challenge was announced last week and was held yesterday. Details haven't been widely reported, but I believe Colonel Plif from the ISD Intrepid won....so well done to him!
 - On Friday, TAC Frodo announced that the position of TCC:XvT was open. Now....the details are on the TC news page, but I dont know if anyone really wants to go and work for the current TAC.....duties of his TCC's include shaving of his hobbity feet....so applier beware! :P Oh yeh, the TAC is also after some plebs TCS/TCT's. If interested email an app to Frodo, Styles and to the TCC of the division your applying for.
 - More proof was given on Wednesday, that the ASF don't mess around replacing flaggies, with the promotion of LC Mayk Wolverine (Wolvie) to ISD Vanguard WC. Everyone say a silent prayer for the loosing WC for SC VII ;)
 - With last week's downing of Minos.net, the SCO website was moved by FA Ender. You can now find it located at
http://sco.emperorshammer.net/. Ender also made note that the site will not be a simple mirror and that he will upgrade it to a 'full SCO site' soon. God knows what that means, but it probably has something to do with the ewok and Snij experiments.
 - If you emailed your CoL recommendations around the time of the minos.net crash, please resend them to OPS so he can do it over again....lucky him! Due to the crash, his email has also changed to
ops@emperorshammer.org.
 - One last bit of information, if anyone is looking for a good solid investment.....put your money in the bank or property (or dead rebel stocks). However, if you just like to blow your pay every week.....you can visit the SCO's new (rigged) casino. It can be found at
http://sco.emperorshammer.net/casino/.

Wing News;
 - SC VII is on! What are you doing reading this report?! You should be flying....get to it!
 - Everybody welcome the newest CMDR in the ASF.....CM Mitim Tsaexin, the new Valkyrie CMDR. Drinks are on him until I can get my GW Flags visa back from him...
 - As I mentioned above in my intro....I've still only received a few WSR's from CMDR's, namely Vortex and Odin. Mitim has an excuse as he was only instated a couple of days ago, but where are my reports from Phoenix, Crusader and Tartarus Squadrons? Please send in any outstanding reports as soon as you can! :)
 - Remember those competitions I promised last week? Well they're done! Read below and click on the links for more information....and good hunting!
 - One more thing.....in addition to the fiction competition I've created to help you guys with fiction topics, I will start up (and have an applicable competition for) a GW only messageboard run-on in which pilots can post to assist them in the fiction category. I will either organise for Pri to read it and judge on the posts as he does with fiction, or each post will have to be copied and emailed to Pri for judging. But hey....at least it gives you an easily accessable topic to write fiction on.

SC VII Corner
;
Ok all...just decided we need a little section in my reports for us in SC VII.

Currently, we are in 3rd place, 20 points behind the Intrepid and 220 points behind that smelly elite squadron on the Aggressor. :P However, we've had a bit of a slow start, with only the flags and Vortex Squadron in the points so far. Hopefully things will pick up soon and we'll really start to kick off. Our beloved PLT file spammer, Lenvik is currently on leave until next weekend also, so that'll no doubt put a dent on our early score. We still have Yoda and GHORG though, so with them and the rest of us we should be able to whup some a$$ ;)

There are a couple of points I wanted to alert you/remind you about. First of all....CITATIONS! This is a HUGE point earner for the SC and all of our squadrons with the exception of Valkyrie have 6+ members which means 5 of the 6 squadrons can earn citations. Each citation is worth 15pts each! Most of the CMDR's have already issued outlines which is great...so as long as we follow through with this it will no doubt give us a big boost throughout the competition. Don't forget that citations (along with FCHG/CR advancement) are a CMDR's duty to keep record of and to pass on to Gilad so he can update scores accordingly.

Another note is to be mindful of the point limitations in some categories...you could keep going in categories to win the category itself, but for the most part your time could be much better spent in another event or flying as much SP/MP/FW as you can in the time you have available. Also remember that this competition lasts a whole month. There is no need to burn yourself out in a week or two, or completely focus on one category for a long period of time. Sure, SP and MP are the main two categories, but other categories are good to give you a break from the constant flying and vice versa. If half of the members of the wing flew an average of 10 missions a day (equiv to 20pts), the GW would have AT LEAST 13,200pts. This does not include citations, DFC's and FCHG/CR rank advancements.....so if we all chip in perhaps an hour (or sometimes less) of our time a day, I'd say we'd pretty much be unbeatable!

Thats enough SC themed ranting for me this report, lets get cracking!

Well, thats the end of another long (but good - I hope) WC report. I look forward to seeing you all around in IRC and to seeing the GW's SC score soar on to a win in the coming weeks! Let's keep our title of ASF Flagship....and Gilad! He'll love us for it! ;)
