Wing XV Report # 0 (2000-09-24)

This report was submitted by LC Ender mBind

<salute>

Straight from the shuttle, back on my short leave – I’m here to present you the Wing XV report. Now top work away these mission reports…

1.

Ok first off I want to say I’m fairly disappointed with this wing – overall there has been no activity safe for the CMDRs and two or three FLs. While most of the wing is on AWOL watch as of now it actually has never been as easy to be active as it is now. This whole week you can fly melees in the XWA wow, this whole month you can fly in the ladder and in Operation Dark Hammer… and you can fly the ladder and the wow 24 hours a day 7 days a week… I can’t believe no-one has at least 10 minutes in a week which he can’t use for a melee – or 5 minutes or less for writing a short report to your CMDR.

Also: I want you all to sign up with Battlestats. Yes… I know it sucks… but it is the only way you can participate in the Week of War and sadly the TC hasn’t got it’s own online score/stats keeping system. We are a multiplayer wing and that means being active in multiplay competitions – and most of these run via BSC.

2.

Then the Squadron reports are still not up to par. This week the first was even denied on not applying to the rules set for a squadron report – I wouldn’t like to see that happening again, and I guess the CMDRS feel the same.

As a result Our Commodore has made the rules on reports even more strict:

"From now on CMDR who doesnt do his job strictly (EVERY week report, EVERY month MSE, communicate) will be sacked (...) There are many pilots out there who would like to be CMDR also and are willing to work hard if they get the CMDR chair."

And looking around the TC I can only fully agree with him – again you have a week to compile and send off your report – that should be possible, if not: reconsider if you really have time enough to be a CMDR.

A refresher on Squadron reports:

  • Activity reports per pilot and not for the whole squadron at once.
  • News from TC, ASF, Wing and Squadron with reminders of any current competitions.
  • CC the Squadron reports to the COM, the BGCOM and the other CMDRs in the wing.
  • Squadron reports should be in before Sunday, any reports that come in after Saturday night 12 PM will be regarded as the next week’s report.
To keep inline with the recent denial of a squadron report – I will deny any Squadron report that doesn’t follow these rules – or else the COM or BGCOM will. Your report is your primary connection to your pilots, while many only scan these wing or fleet reports – yours are read. Make sure they are worth reading. Many pilots are inactive because they just don’t know about the possibilities they have to be active… which gives us activity like we had this week.

Fleet News:

Wing News:

General Wing News:

  • COL Sasquatch of Wing III has not taken up our challenge to a Supremacy competition due to his wing being already "too" active at the moment. Maybe we’ll challenge them again at a later time... In other words THIS COMPETITION HAS BEEN CANCELLED. If you were collecting missions for this competition – you can safely send them in now;)
  • The Vanguard has been signed up at Battlestats.com (BSC), you can view our info at http://www.battlestats.com/clubs/view/?1526 ALL Pilots are required sign up with Battle Stats ( http://www.battlestats.com/players/add/ ) ß there fill in your info and click on submit. You’ll get an email with your confirmation code and another battlestats URL to confirm it at – do so. Then you’ll be linked to a page where you can join clubs. Join the EH (club ID: 486) and the Vanguard (club ID: 1526). Both clubs will accept you with an email ASAP (usually the same day) after which you can start flying. For WoWs use your EH account, for Vanguard comps and ladders, your VAN account.
  • The XWA Week of War (wow) has just started – if you want to train yourself for the upcoming MP competitions and you have XvT, it’s always best to just fly a lot. And if you win you’ll score LoCs and thus gain FCHG points.
  • Connected to this XWA WoW is the ASF Vanguard Competition vs the GrayWolf. At the end of the WoW we’ll be seeing which ship scored the most points for the fleet and the winner will be able to change the title and motto for the loser for a 30 day period. RA Blade has said he will shoot himself if we lose and he still owes me some money – so please don’t let it come that far! ;) I’ll make the best scoring squadron WC’s Own for October and there are a PC and two ISMs waiting for the best 3 rated pilots.
  • There has been put out a BATTLE ALERT for Operation: Dark Hammer. Which means that it’s now getting really messy. Check up on the site (http://www.redrival.com/demios/op.html) regularly for updates on when the battles (yes 6 of em even!) will be held.
  • The Vanguard Pilot Ladder has started. Sign up with BSC to participate. There have been no matches flown yet…
  • The Vanguard Propaganda Office has opened and is active. Good luck guys, we need your good work.
  • CMDR/CPT Arso Slyth of Ghost Squadron on the ISD Immortal was wondering if we had any squadrons on our ship that would be willing to take on his in a friendly XWA competition? Interested CMDRs should mail him at Arsolimese@aol.com As of this moment I have heard of no replies…. We don’t want them to think we Vanguard Pilots are chicken now do we?
  • The Vanguard Site has been updated again, visit it at http://www.jedi.nu/isd_vanguard

Competitions:

Operation Dark Hammer.
Starts: Monday September 18th
Ends: after about 10 turns, 1 turn = 3 days
URL: http://www.redrival.com/demios/op.html
Participants: the whole ASF
Description: "Wargame between the ASF and the Goliath Fleet in which the ASF is represented by Wing XIII and Vanguard Squadrons Mantis, Hornet & Python and the Goliath Fleet by Wing XIV and Vanguard Squadrons Scorpion, Echo & Raptor. As you can see: for Dark Hammer the Vanguard is split up over the two teams - May the best team (Goliath ;)) win. "
CURRENT STATUS: BATTLE ALERT. Play is now frozen as ASF and Goliath ships have encountered each other in no less than SIX regions, varying in the number of starships and fighters involved... Avenger Squadron has arrived at Thilla, to find the Bulk Cruiser Duran II in close orbit... Several ASF capital ships have arrived to 'liberate' the world of Stic from Goliath control... A large ASF fleet has arrived in-system G’Rho, hoping to catch the Goliath Fleet...instead they find a lone Lancer Frigate. The ASF does find the Goliath Fleet at Mantessa...unfortunately for them. Meanwhile The VSD Bronze Sword, escorted by several squadrons from the Intrepid arrives to engage a lone Goliath ship orbiting Narulac and two ships from both teams arrived simultaneous in Daltar space for a face off. That’s 6 battles at once! And lots of opportunity for you guys to fly! Stay tuned to Priyums reports to see when and where the battles are held and check the site regularly for updates.

ASF Vengeance Competition
Starts: 02:00 PM, Fri September 22th
Ends: 02:00 PM, Fri September 29th
URL: http://www.battlestats.com/games/xwa/war/info/?wow082
Participants: Wing XV vs Wing XIII
Description: "Both ships would encourage as many of their pilots as they can to participate in the September XWA WoW. At the conclusion of the WoW, the ship that has the highest pilot score would be the winner.  And will gain the right to modify the title and motto of the losing ship/wing.  For the top 3 _rated_ scoring pilots on both ships there will be medals to be gained. (10 games min to get a rating)"
CURRENT STATUS: the XWA wow has started! Go to the URL above to see specifics. (you can also sign up when you're on bsc anyway.) Remember that you fly for the club EH and not for the Vanguard. In wow’s you can’t fly vs. Other club members – so don’t start flying vs WingXIII members, they can be your wingmen. Also: you need to be signed up with BSC and with the EH on there to participate.

Any melee that is flown according to the MP rules at any time/place between Vanguard pilots can be submitted to the bsc database. The top 3 pilots will be awarded medals according to overall participation."
CURRENT STATUS: the Pilot Ladder has started! Go to the URL above to see specifics. (you can also sign up when you're on bsc anyway.)

The first section will start now and is the fiction portion. Each squadron will have as many pilots as possible submit pieces of fiction that must be at least 200 words long. There is not theme and the stories may be as long as you wish. The squadron commander in each squad must chose the best piece of fiction and send it to his Wing Commander along with how many pilots in his squad participated out of the total amount of pilots. The Wing Commander will then report for his whole wing and send me the best submissions from each squad."

Wing Squadron Status:

ECHO SQUADRON: VIP Escort.
Commander: CM Edwan Lipit (R0YALGARD7@aol.com)
Page URL: http://echo.squadron.org/
MB URL: http://pub11.ezboard.com/fasf4062isdvanguard
Status: 6 out of 12 positions filled. LT Mitsyashoo has been reported AWOL. The rest of you apparently reported in, but no activity.

SCORPION SQUADRON: Reconnaissance.
Commander: CPT Archon (Invincible__007@hotmail.com)
Page URL: http://www.angelfire.com/games/scorpionsquad/index.html
MB URL: http://www1.sitepowerup.com/mb/view.asp?BoardID=115465
Status: 5 out of 12 positions filled. CPT Archon: Flew DB-XvT 1 and signed up for the ladders and the XWA WoW at http://www.battlestats.com No activity or reports from the others – which puts practically the whole squadron in the AWOL-watch. … and with that the squadron in danger as we might have to close it down when completely empty. Archon, I requested new pilots for you but I don’t know if they’ll come through…

MANTIS SQUADRON: Deep Strike.
Commander: MAJ Garik Hizad (Heartofgold42@hotmail.com)
Page URL: http://www.homestead.com/mantissquad/
MB URL: http://pub11.ezboard.com/fasf4062isdvanguard
Status: 6 out of 12 positions filled. LT Zane Rasko (jeffsullivan@a-znet.com) joined the squadron, welcome. MAJ Hizad has been very active flying in the WoWs and flying missions. Sadly I can’t say the same about the rest of the squadron, of which at least two (CM Calderan Halcyon and CPT 007) are on AWOL watch.

RAPTOR SQUADRON: Heavy Bombardment.
Commander: LC Kaye (jekaye@total.net)
Page URL: http://www.total.net/~jekaye/
MB URL: http://pub11.ezboard.com/fasf4062isdvanguard
Status: 8 out of 12 positions filled. Only e-mail and ICQ correspondence this, so no matches were held. No report from Vader or Chuckie this week.

HORNET SQUADRON: Interdiction. (WC’s Own)
Commander: CPT Ace Armageddon (hellfire021@aol.com)
Page URL: http://hornet.squadron.org/
MB URL: http://pub11.ezboard.com/fasf4062hornetsquadron
Status: 7 out of 12 positions filled. Active – but no report. Because of my all seeing eye I know that Hornet has been active at the OuterRim, propaganda office and the wows etc – but I have no official knowledge of this. Ace: If you don’t have time during the weekends – you can also send in your report on weekdays… Do consider this as a warning in light of the 1 report-missed rule!

PYTHON SQUADRON: Interdiction.
Commander: CM Rothmans (akke42@aol.com)
Page URL: http://python.squadron.org/
MB URL: http://pub11.ezboard.com/fasf4062pythonsquadron
Status: 5 out of 12 positions filled. CM Rothmans flew several missions, and so did LCM Boroknight… good work! The other squadron members are on AWOL watch… report in guys – you’re missing out on the fun. CM Rothmans is setting up a squadron communication system via AIM And wants to set up a squadron meeting, I’m looking forward to the results

And to finish up:

Meetings.

  • Fleet-wide meeting on IRC-Undernet channel #emperor's_hammer (every Saturday at 5PM GMT)
  • TIE Corps meeting on IRC-Undernet channel #tiecorps (It's every Sunday at 9PM GMT)
  • the Outer Rim Night on #OuterRim (Saturday night for most, 2AM sunday morning for me in Europe.)
Messageboards I think that’s it – If I’ve forgotten anything, let me know via email (use only a.c.w.t.zwegers@bk.tudelft for official TC/Wing mails.) or ICQ (9706474) I appologise if this report started off rather harshly but I’m convinced of our Wing’s potential – but also that we’re not living up to it. Come on Pilots: crawl in those fighters and give em hell in the more then 7 battles we’re involved in this week.
