SIN CMDR: CM Hav Antiel REPORT DATE: 11 July 2017 |
|
At the end of Raise the Flag 2017, Sin Squadron secured fifth place in the standings with 818 points, well ahead of Alpha in 6th but less than 200 points behind Delta in 4th. Fellow Warrior squads Theta and Kappa took the top two spots ahead of the Hammer's best squad, Beta, in third. MAJ Earnim Branet led Sin pilots with 487 points, good for 9th overall. Your commander managed 16th with 155 points. MAJ Wondra ranked 22nd with 40 points, and our own LT Stevenpowell finished 33rd with a single point. Overall, Sin improved over 2016’s haul of 465 points and second-last in the standings. Once again, the Warrior earned flagship honors with more than double the Hammer's score. |

Radical comments incoming. Our RtF 2017 participation did not meet my expectations. That includes my personal participation level. In June, I told RA Mitchell that I planned to break 1000 points, yet I didn't approach 200. That's not the kind of leadership I want to bring to Sin. However, we only had 50% participation from Sin pilots in RtF this year. That's the same as our paltry 2016 showing that saw Sin finish second to last. It's not enough to have one pilot carrying a whole squadron, especially when we have high-ranking, experienced veterans idling while our SLs and LTs are going AWOL. That kind of activity is not sustainable. If you didn't participate in Raise the Flag, are you truly an active pilot? I'm an educator, and I know that shame is not an effective motivator. I believe in positive reinforcement. In the June MSE, I awarded MAJ Branet a Silver Star for his exemplary flying. I also awarded MAJ Wondra an ISM for his LoSs. Thanks to Wondra's flying, I was also able to award a medal for the Price of Sin competition for the first time since becoming CMDR in May (the IS-BW goes to MAJ Branet). Fly for Sin and you will be rewarded, pilots.
