* Hawkins stepping down * La'an interim-COM * DS leaves the EH * Bug hunting still continues * last TCoP - 2016 round finished * TC on leave for the years end celebrations |
Here we go with another TCCOM report. One of the most disturbing news for a good bunch of people was Admiral Hawkins wish to be transfered from his position as COM of the ISD II Warrior 'at the earilest convenience to the TC' and his immediate replacement with the new interims COM, Fleet Admiral Yarek La'an. I know some of you had bad feelings about this 'switch over' and some of you even think that this has been a long planed way to give Admiral Hawkins a slap in the face for bringing up his ideas. but maybe sometimes you should take a look at the facts instead of just guessing what might be. Fact 1, as hard as it might sound, Hawkins had RL issues that, in his own words, made it necessary to request his retirement from the COM position 'at the earilest convenience to the TC'. His RL issues made it nearly impossible for him to keep a close enough contact to all his CMDRs to get the MShipE for October or November before he stepped down, in December. In adition to this there were a couple of other things that should have been done, that got lost most likely due to Hawkins being this busy in RL. Don't get me wrong. I don't blame him for these facts, nor do I have any bad feelings about it. RL can be a pain and have a lot of influence on ones presence here. And my number one rule has always been 'RL comes first'. That is why I reacted this fast to get Admiral Hawkins released from his duties and responsibilities as COM. Mostly to take the weight of the COM duties off his shoulders as soon as possible, so he would have nothing to worry about but his RL issues. I have the utmost respect for Admiral Hawkins and I'd really love to see him return to a leadership position within the TIE Corps, and he'll always have a place in my heart and my memories for the good times we had. I'm crossing fingers for him that his RL situation will settle down soon. By luck we found Yarek La'an, a more than well experienced officer, to jump in as an interims COM for the ISD II Warrior within short time. And you can take this 'short time' literally. It took no more than 2 hours from Hawkins initial mail that he wanted to step down at the earliest time, until we had La'an take over. I am sure he'll do a great job in keeping the ISD II Warrior on course until we've found a more permanent COM. The position is open for applications and everyone interested that has finished the SM/4 and has at least one successful ToD in a CMDR+ position should send a mail to me cc'ing the SOO, Fleet Admiral Pellaeon. The bug hunting on the database continues. And there are a good bunch of those still remaining and worked on by High Admiral Anahorn Dempsey. Use the database as mch as you can to find any and all bugs still remaining. If you found a bug, take a screenshot and send it to the good High Admiral cc'ing Fleet Admiral Pellaeon and myself. Even though most bugs that are still present might only be found by COM+ level administration access members. After the discussion started by Colonel Daniel Stephens didn't turn out the way Daniel wished it would, he decided that he was done with the EH and wished his complete removal from all EH rosters. It is always sad to see someone turn his back on the EH this definitely, but this didn't come unforeseen. I fear some members already decided to follow his lead, which is an even worse thing. We've seen the TC mailing list bristling with people voicing their concerns about the way the EHCS/TCCS are doing their jobs, what could be done better, how we can improve the EH and its subgroups. There've been good ideas brought to our attention and I am sure those that can be integrated easily will come life soon, like some of the website changes suggested. Those ideas that fall under the sole control of the SGCOMs or SGCS will be reflected and dealt with by those persons in charge. Please trust me that I will think about every single idea that was brought up during this process and see how I might use it for the better the TIE Corps. But not all those ideas are in cosistent with the image I have of the TIE Corps and the plans I have for us. I know that some of you think that we should drop being pilots only and embrace all modern games that come our way and might bring in some fresh blood. Others think we should drop all our SGs in the EH and make them just 'Wings' under the leadership of the FC/EHCS. Both ideas have their ups and downs, just like the image I have in mind for the TIE Corps (maintain it as a flying only SG of the EH with its own TCCS). I am not 100 % sure with wich direction the TIE Corps or the EH would be better suited for the future, which of these roads would lead to long term success and which one will lead us to complete destruction. But I know that I want the TIE Corps to keep its core identity to the highest possible degree. That's why I want the TIE Corps to remain a group of pilots, the pilots of the Emperor's Hammer. If one of you, or even a group of you is up for making a change to this, you are free to put together a plan for the TIE Corps (or the whole EH), bring it to the Fleet Commander's attention, if he doesn't listen you might even try to convince our founder, Grand Admiral Ronin, that it is time for a change in command, either on the TIE Corps or even the Emperor's Hammer level. Convince them to replace the TCCS/EHCS with you and your trusties and earn yourself a chance to lead. I am sure Grand Admiral Rapier od Grand Admiral Ronin will be not that hard to convince to do this if you work out a good plan and show your will and intention to bring it to life yourself, if the plan is a good one. I won't stand in your way in this case, not even fight over it. But as long as Grand Admiral Rapier leaves the decision about this to me, entrusts me with the power to lead the TIE Corps, it will remain the piloting SG of the EH. All other ideas, regarding new game platforms (space sims), new ideas for the website, etc., are always welcome. Ideas to promote activity in any way are always welcome and will be worked with. Just the core identity of the TIE Corps is a no go, at least for me, and I hope (and feel) that I am not alone on this road. This morning, at 08:00 UTC/GMT, the last round for TCoP - 2016 came to an end. The winner of this rounds sections are listed in the TCoP section of this report, as always. Congratulations go to General Golbez Harvey on his IS-PW for his overall first place for TCoP - 2016 with 389 points. Second place overall is General Coranel Both with 359 points, earning himself an IS-GW, and third place with 127 points and an IS-SW goes to myself. Stay tuned for another series of TCoP being launched in early 2017. With the hollidays at the end of the year being there, the TC is on leave until 2nd January 2017. I wish you all a great time with your families and friends, and I hope to see you all again next year! |
