Beta Squadron Report #31

October 17, 2004

NEWS

General News:

This report's from a different email because this is from LT Serin "Yakman" Jansj, standing in as A-CMDR for Conker while he's on vacation. Something about dancing girls on Ryloth, or cyborg related bladder malfunctions, I think..

I hope everybody's had a good week. With some of our members in Dark Brotherhood being occupied with the RoS, it's been an overall slow period. It's been a quiet few days really, aside from one major event: Proton resigned from his post as Commodore of the Sovereign. Proton has served well in command for over two years. I don't even think we can really anticipate the magnitude of the changes this will bring.

The Citation Run competition is running at the moment, so try to participate if you can. There are also some other competitions going on, notably the Epsilon Squadron Patch competition and the Science Office's Craft Description competition. See below for details.

Remember to include the mission type and number when sending in your pilot files, preferably labeling it in the filename if you can. A good format to use is "Pin Number-Mission Type-Mission Number." It would also help to list that in the email.

Remember also that Conker has a "New Deal" for those who can't fly at the moment, due to time or whatever reason. Contact him to see what other activities you can do besides flying.

The voting for the squad patch is still in the running. There are two in contention and Conker can't decide, so try to help him out by sending in your opinion if possible.

We've got the Beta Squadron mailing list up on Yahoogroups and everybody's been invited to join. Hopefully we can start up some conversations soon. If you didn't get the email for some freak reason, contact Conker or Serin and we'll get you on it.

Beta Echelon, the website for Beta Squadron, is very close to being completed. Look for more news soon.

TIE-TC Battle #171 - Fury of the Colossus

At the completion of the competition, the pilot who has completed the greatest amount of competition battles in the shortest ammount of time, regardless of actual citations earned, will be declared the winner, and will receive an Iron Star with Bronze Wings. Happy hunting.

Craft Essay Competition:

Competition Name/Title: Craft Essay Competition

Submitted by: SCO-TCT-TCS-PROF/FA Ender mBind/CS-10/SSSD Sovereign

Start Date (mm/dd/yy): 10/1/2004

End Date (mm/dd/yy): 11/1/2004

Parties Involved: All Emperor's Hammer Members except for the SCO

Missions/Battles Used: none, fiction competition

Medals to be Awarded: 1st IS-GR, 2nd IS-SR, 3rd IS-BR or equalivalent SG medal.

Miscellaneous Information: Write an essay about your favorite Star Wars ship: Why was it designed? What are its main uses? Its History? Its strengths and shortcomings? - Essays need to be from "inside" the Star Wars universe, and from an Emperor's Hammer point of view is encouraged (but not required). - DO research on your craft of choice, your essay cannot conflict with official sources. If you use sources, list these at the end. (This means a fairly unknown or EH craft gives you more freedom then one that is well documented.. but also that you will need use your own logic and imagination more.) - Essays can be any length, if you want to write about the entire history of the "Millenium Falcon" you're free to do so, but a short but effective story about the TUG has just as much chance to win. - Essays need to be in .txt, .rtf, .html or .doc format and zipped. Send your submission to sco@emperorshammer.org with "Craft Essay Competition" as subject. - The best entries may be included in the the Fleet Manual, a seperate additional ISM (or equalivalent) will be rewarded for those. Simple examples: http://www.minos.net/~sco/fleet-manual/viewship.php?id=103 http://www.minos.net/~sco/fleet-manual/viewship.php?id=90 http://www.minos.net/~sco/fleet-manual/viewship.php?id=102

JOKE OF THE WEEK

A bus load of politicians were driving down a country road one afternoon, when all of a sudden, the bus ran off the road and crashed into a tree in an old farmer's field. Seeing what happened, the old farmer went over to investigate. He then proceeded to dig a hole and bury the politicians. A few days later, the local sheriff came out, saw the crashed bus, and asked the old farmer, "Were they all dead?" The old farmer replied, "Well, some of them said they weren't, but you know how them politicians lie."

That's all for this week. Conker will probably find his way out of vacation and get back to work soon. :P I hope this report finds you well.

Sincerely,
