Omega Report # 0 (2003-02-23)

This report was submitted by COL Sasquatch

Greetings all, and welcome to this week's Omega Squadron report.

Weeeeeeell ... I have determined that cutting and pasting from the February SBOTM announcement that I have saved will spontaneously cause Outlook Express to panic, wet itself, and then crash with a fatal error ... regardless of how much of my report I have already typed. I am now resisting the urge to physically harm someone.

(*Resisting ... resisting ... remember, happy place ... happy place ... *)

Let's get on with the report (for a second time), shall we?

Squadron News
-----------------------

- Big news this week was the advancement of COL Brian to Flight Leader of Flight Two! Congrats go out to Brian, who's pockets have become much lighter due to the required time of drink-buying that comes with a new position or promo. What can I say, it's tradition!

- All multiplayer pilots, heads up :

March Madness

A multiplayer competition has been organised between the Aggressor Strike
Force and the Avenger Task Force, to be held on IRC (#EHCOC) on March
1st. Pilots will be able to take part using both XWA and XvT during the
day, and LoCs will be awarded for all matches. Those matches between ATF
and ASF pilots will also count towards the final tally. Individual awards
will also be presented to the top pilots in both XvT and XWA: Iron Star
Gold Wings to the top pilots, Silver Wings to second and so on. A number
of Flag Officers from both Battlegroups will be on hand to host and
moderate thoughout the day. This competition has been TO approved, the
details can be seen at

- Several new high scores were set this week by CPT Night Grue and MAJ Brandon! Excellent work, gentlemen.

- The Commendation of Bravery was awarded, for a second time, to GN Compton this week. Compton insists that he was awarded the CoB quite some time ago, but it had mysteriously disappeared from the TC database. At any rate, all has been set right now, although Compton's original Commendation of Bravery is still MIA ...

- The Omega Squadron store has opened for business :

http://www.cafeshops.com/omegasquadron

Again, a big thanks goes out to EmpReach -- without his help, the Omega store would have been a lot crappier. There are no black tee shirts or thongs for sale, but still, this should hopefully satisfy anyone who has ever thought, "I have so much extra money, and a strange craving for Omega Squadron Brand (TM) merchandise ...

- There was lots of discussion this week regarding Omega's uniforms, more specifically the placement of the uniform patch. Nobody seems to think that having it on the front of the uniform is a good idea. RA Joe and GN Compton are both hard at work explaining our views to select members of the Command Staff. Also, LC Ixion is putting together a prototype uniform which complies to all of the current Ops guidelines, to give us something to look at (and something to judge). Stay tuned.

Squadron Orders
-------------------------

- Anyone planning to participate in the February SBOTM -- you are running out of time! The deadline is Feb. 28th. According to my records, only MAJ Brandon has participated.

Battles to fly are :
TIE-TC 183 (Defection of Kusanagi)
XvT-TC 31 (Pirate Scouts)
XWA-TC 24 (The History of the SSSD Sovereign)

Pilot files go to LC Philo ( cnwilde@pacbell.net ) with a CC for yours truly. Penfold, remember to submit your file -- you flew TC 183 back in January.

- The Sovereign Squadron League is officially resurrected as of March 15 -- be ready. Let's face it, it will look bad for us if we can't even hold our own against all the non-elite squads participating. I expect everyone to give their best effort.

Misc.
-------

- By the end of this report, Outlook Express has crashed and lost my report not once, but twice (again when I was pasting in ATR reports). I hereby declare Outlook Express to be the whiny cry-baby of all email programs. WHAT DOES IT HAVE AGAINST COPYING AND PASTING!?

Well, I can't think of anything more to type, and that can mean only one thing ... time to stop typing. That's going to do it for this week guys. As always, fly high and watch your six!
