Omega Report # 0 (2003-03-02)

This report was submitted by COL Sasquatch

Greetings all, and welcome to the latest edition of the Omega Squadron report. Strap in, let's get this baby rolling ...

Squadron News
-----------------------

- The SBOTM for February has ended. Brian, Grue, Brandon and myself all participated. Not too shabby, considering that we have about 3 or 4 open spots, but it could always be better. Results for the SBOTM will be released shortly, I'll get them right to you once they're out.

- The skirmish for Operation : Outrageous Fortune has ended as well -- once again, Omega turned in submissions from Brian, Grue, Brandon and myself. I don't have any info on how things turned out for our team, but I understand it was predicted to be a slaughter, in our favor. Again, you'll know more once I know more.

- The March 1st deadline to have all TC Homepages up to standard has come and gone. The Omega website has been updated by COL Brian (excellent work!). The sidebars of the site are now up to date, and we just need to begin posting more recent news in the center area. I understand Brian is trying to re-work the way that this news area is updated, so more news on that as it becomes available. Look at the right hand side of the site, and you will notice that some of the newer members of the squad need to have a history posted, and some histories need to be updated (like my own!). If you have no history posted, please write a brief summary of the positions you have previously held and send it in to me for posting on the site.

- CPT Night "Suave" Grue has set yet another high score this week, this time for TC-TIE # 62. Nicely done, Grue! Have a Bloody Rebel, and put it on my tab. ;-)

- The newly reformed Rat Pack was back in top form this week! As most of you are probably aware, the Rat Pack is the Sov's unofficial squadron of WCs, the COM, and usually the current Omega CO (yours truly). The Rat Pack promptly blew away the Wing I "Wolf Pack", consisting of Wing I's CMDRs. The Rat Pack victory tour should be moving on into Wing II shortly ...

- Hey, the Omega Squadron store is doing some business! To date, we have sold 1 black cap, 1 mug, 1 mini-poster print, and 1 white tee shirt. Glad to see you guys are enjoying the shameless Omega Squadron merchandise! ;-)

Squadron Orders
-------------------------

- The Sovereign Squadron League is still prepping for it's March 15th release, everyone BE READY.

- Operation : Outrageous Fortune skirmishes could show up at any time, so everyone be on alert -- the deadline is usually only a short time away once these are announced.

- No real competitions to announce this week, so everyone feel free to fly some free missions, battles, maybe write some fiction, make some graphics, and just be active in general. The Sov SL will be here shortly, and it's going to be a big priority until it's complete.

Misc.
--------

- After discovering last week that LC Janich has retired (and that his omegasquadron.org email address seems to be forwarding to an email account that is no longer functional), I have made the decision to move him to the reserves. What this means is that we will soon have 4 open spots instead of 3.

- On that note, I am going to get invites out to possible Omega pilots this week. My thanks to everyone who took the time to email me with their thoughts and comments on the possible candidates. More on this in a separate mail!

Okay, that should just about wrap it up for this week. Until next time gentlemen, fly high and watch your six!
