Omega Report # 0 (2003-06-29)

This report was submitted by GN Sasquatch

Greetings everyone, welcome to this week's Omega Squadron report. I'm going to try REALLY HARD not to talk about SWG ... at least not until we get normal business out of the way.

Squadron News
-----------------------

- GN Stele's "General's Sovereign Summer Patrol" (henceforth, the GSSP) got off to a good start this week. A quick glance at the website shows that most pilots will be going into week 2. Of the four Omegans participating (Ixion, Ras, Artyis, and myself) everyone has flown! For some reason, Artyis has not been cleared at the GSSP website; so just to be safe, I have re-sent Artyis' pilot files to Stele. Just a reminder, all your GSSP submissions should go to Stele, with a CC for me so that I can BSF them.

UPDATE : GN Stele reports that Artyis has been cleared for week 2!

- LC Todbringer has released the "short" results for CR#7 ... here are the top ten squadrons for that combat run :

1. Omega ...................... 465,984
2. Kappa ........................ 350,418
3. Praetorian ................. 349,957
4. Pi ............................... 276,570
5. Mem ........................... 220,968
6. Diamondback ............. 177,817
7. Yod ............................. 171,532
8. Rat Pack ..................... 153,616
9. Theta .......................... 136,096
10. Zayin ......................... 117,668

Great job, everyone! As you can see, we had a commanding lead during this combat run. Keep it up, we'll need everyone to be in top form during the playoffs!

- Minos.Net should be back up, which means that a lot of websites (including the MBs and the SovSite) should now be accessible again.

- Apart from painting his kitchen, GN Compton has also unwittingly become one of the driving forces behind the EH's Player Association for SWG. Keep it up C, your efforts are appreciated! Anyone that owns SWG and wants to join the EH PA should email C, as well as Darknyte.

- CM Ras Kronar is staying busy as well. Besides successfully making it to week two of the GSSP, Ras is still working on the downloadable Training Manual. He reports that the Omega portrait has been placed on temporary hold, due to the many projects he is currently working on. Still, be sure to send him your personal description!

- Lastly, I was awarded the Iron Star with Bronze Wings this week.

Squadron Orders
-------------------------

- Fly FREE-TIE # 218, "Pirates!", for CR#8 of the SSL! Right now I have submissions from Ixion and Ras, and I'll be flying it later this week, as soon as I drag myself away from SWG. This is the last regular combat run, and it's important that we finish out strong to maintain our lead. Don't forget, if we finish in the top spot, we will get the most "seeding" (points bonus) during the playoffs! I'm very proud of the effort that everyone has put in so far, so let's keep it up. U.S. pilots should remember that your deadline is July 4th, which just happens to be a holiday in the U.S. If you plan to celebrate the 4th of July at all, then DO NOT plan on flying on the 4th! Your last full day to fly is July 3rd anyway, this Thursday. I'm attaching the mission to this report.

- This one's for Ixion, Ras, and Artyis : This week's GSSP missions should be announced tomorrow. Watch the website for details.

- HA Priyum has announced a banner design competition. Here are the details, as taken from the FO report :

I've started a small graphics competition open to all in the TIE Corps (including the CS). I basically need a new main banner for the Flight Office (any size) and a new link banner, similar to the one above. Entries should be zipped and sent to spellfire@btinternet.com.
Awards will range from the Iron Star - Gold Ribbon down to Iron Star - Bronze Ribbon. Closing date for entries is Sunday 6th July.

So feel free to try your hand at making a new Flight Office banner / link banner! Be sure to CC me with your submission. I know that Ras has already expressed an interest in possibly making a banner ... let's get some good submissions sent in from Omega!

Misc.
--------

- Hey, I think I did a pretty good job of not talking about SWG until now! A lot of the major problems that I encountered on the first day (and they WERE major release problems) have been cleared up. There are definitely still a few bugs in the game, but it IS getting better.
As things stand right now, I'm hooked. I'm playing a character named Conscarr Chonchulak, and I'm living in and around Tatooine's Imperial capitol, Bestine. I'm trying to become a Master Scout, and I'm also dabbling in Marksmanship (a necessary skill for ANY profession, IMO), Brawling, and Artisan skills.
Bestine is THE place to be if you're an Imperal on Tatooine. Stormtroopers patrol the streets (both NPCs and actual players!), and as a result I have yet to encounter a Rebel anywhere near the city limits. So, anyone with SWG ... if you want to stop by Tatooine ... come to Bestine and I'll make sure you get a warm Imperial welcome. Kawolski's also hanging around there (he was there today, anyway), so that's 2 confirmed EH'ers in Bestine.

Well, that should just about wrap things up for this week. Until next time ... fly high and watch your six!
