Commentary:
Well this has been one hell of a week. I had the report all ready to go and I get new information about our squadron. First off, we have 2 new members. Everyone please welcome now Lieutenant Trevor Shade and Sub-lieutenant Kahooli (I get the feeling that I have spelled this name wrong…) I hope this is the start of a trend. Alpha squadron is coming back!
I have just heard from my fiancée that she would like to return to Alpha squadron. She has been staying with me in my cabin for the past 6 months and maybe she is right. She insists that she be exempt from flying duties as her real life commitments keep her very busy. She can participate in fiction writing and some of the run-ons. I said it sounded good.
I have great news to report that a good friend of mine is transferring to the squadron (finally…) and shall put in his final request soon…
BUSY BUSY BUSY… I am so busy with things that I sometimes forget what needs to be done. Therefore, in light of my own forgetfulness, I will from now on recap all orders in the weekly updates. This way we can all stay informed of what is happening and what we need to do. One of those things was the Colossus Squadron League. When I realized that I needed to forward the files to you, I apologized. Then I hear we are getting NO PARTICIPATION TOWARDS IT after we voted on doing so. Now, I knew that my time would be scarce so I figured that the squadron would be involved with this whereas I would not. I find that no one has participated in the competition. If we are going to toss our hat in the ring, we damn well better be prepared to stick with it. I will tell you when I cannot. I expect the same from all of you.
Another one of those things is the Wing Commander’s challenge. I knew I was not going to have the time to do so and said it to everyone. I usually lead by example and I tried to fit in a slot to fly. I managed to find the time to fly 2 battles somewhere around the end of last month. I am trying to find the time to fly this month and with my fiancée working on her school reports and business class research on-line, I am finding that my time is very scarce. So I have stated this to everyone and I have made it clear that I want to see the squadron actually do up the battles, the missions, and the fictions assigned. If you look on my combat record, you will see the battles I have flown. I have assigned battles that will give us citations. I want to see citations for the following ASAP: TC 77, 78, 129, 130, & 21. This coming month, I will be assigning another 2 part battle. I will continue to assign these larger battles until depleted. For you new recruits and members of the squadron, fly the following as soon as you are able: TC 21, 77, 78, 129, and 130. I have assigned these battles since becoming the Commander of this squadron. My goal is to bring back the glory this squadron once had and to do so in such a manner that we have to put people on a waiting list to get in. I want this squadron to become an elite squadron. I want Alpha to be known to the recruits as the place to be so they request to come here without any prompting. I want the whole damned fleet to say, “Alpha squadron? In a word, superior”. I have a goal for myself and that is to be the top ranked FCHG in the wing. I am working on it. What are your goals? What do you want to achieve? What do you need to do it?
