Asp Squadron Commander’s Report 03.29.02

CMDR’s Thoughts:
I can’t tell everyone how important that it is for you to report in each week to your respective FL’s. Flight I, this goes double for you since each of you are directly under the CMDR’s watchful eye! Take a minute or two each week and report in that your still alive and active, as well as any activity you have done or are working on that is TC related.

The FL’s and I will be working on some plans this next week for getting more Battle Citations! However, these plans will only succeed with the involvement of the entire Squadron. Therefore it is essential that each pilot take time each month to assist with winning more Battle Citations! Remember, these show potential recruits how active we are as a Squadron, and also gives us bragging rights when we have them!!

LCM John Clark was awarded the Palpatine Crescent for his outstanding activity during the month of February! LCM Clark has proven time and again that being an active and involved officer can be a rewarding experience. I’d like to have the opportunity to award more medals and promotions, but it is essential for each pilot to realize that this can only be done when activity is exhibited to validate the request for a promotion or medal!

I know it seems like I’m constantly complaining about activity and communication. Overall the majority of this Squadron is showing remarkable progress in increasing activity. But with that also comes the bad side of which is communication. I’d like to see this Squadron become much closer and assist each other with flying, IWATS courses, etc. So try reaching out to your fellow Squadron mates and get to know them a little better. After all, we serve in the same Squadron, so it only makes sense to know your fellow wingmate. :P

Asp Squadron TOP ACE Competition:
This week LT Gistenjunge gets the SP Kill Point!

I sure hope to see better participation this next week beyond the three pilots that regularly participate.

Remember, winning LoC’s at any TIE Corps scheduled MP match also count for Kill Points.

This week, fly XvT-Free #31! All pilot files must be in my inbox my 12 PM (EST) Thursday in order to count for this round. Lets get to those fighters and get busy folks!

Multi-Player Competitions:
Just a reminder to everyone that there are plenty of MP competitions you can jump into each week. I encourage anyone that has the time, and hopefully a decent connection to make an attempt as often as possible to join in! ;)

Recruiting:
We are up to 9 pilots now! This is great, but I’d like Asp to be the Squadron with 12 active pilots in its ranks! Therefore I’d like to request that other officers step up and join LCM John Clark in his recruiting campaign. If your unsure of what to do, contact LCM Clark and he’ll be happy to give you the info on how to proceed!

Joke of the week:
The old Cherokee chief sat in his reservation hut, smoking the ceremonial pipe, eyeing the two US government officials sent to interview him.

"Chief Two Eagles," one official began, "you have observed the white man for many generations, you have seen his wars and his products, you have seen all his progress, and all his problems."

The chief nodded.

The official continued, "Considering recent events, in your opinion, where has the white man gone wrong?"

The chief stared at the government officials for over a minute, and then calmly replied: "When white man found this land, Indians were running it. No taxes. No debt. Plenty buffalo. Plenty beaver. Women did most of the work. Medicine man free. Indian men hunted and fished all the time."

The chief smiled, and added quietly, "White man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that."

Battle Citations:
Thanks to the efforts of LT Gistenjunge, we have 3 Battle Citations once again! This is great work, and I look forward to seeing that number climb in the future! Well done Gist!!

Promotions/Awards:
Ø LCM John Clark was awarded the Palpatine Crescent for his activity in February!!

New Pilots/Transfers:
Ø LT Haztix Vel returned from the Reserves! Welcome back Haz!!

Pilots on Leave:
Ø LT Kiptan Irtor is on temporary leave until he is able to get a new joystick.

Wing/Ship News:
Ø Work continues on the new Wing XIV website!
Ø LC Dengar March has been processing the MSE Awards for February! Lots of promotions and medals being passed around!!
Ø ASF Propaganda Office still needs more officers to assist with Recruiting, Graphics, HTML, etc. If interested contact CPT Rekio Corsiar (chaos_rc@hotmail.com).
Ø Recruiting, Battle Citations, and MP Combat remain high on the WC and COM’s list of opportunities! Support your Ship and Wing and get involved!!

EH/TC News and Information:
Ø BSC cleaned out all players from club rosters that have been inactive for more than 90 days. This affects a large number of people that were on the EH roster :) So just a note, if you have been inactive on BSC for more than 90 days, you will have to sign up for the EH again. Your BSC profile will still exist, however.

Activity on BSC does not necessarily have to be participating in a game. You can also edit your profile information or post a message on one of the BSC message boards to reset the inactivity counter.

One more thing to note... Your player name on BSC should just be your callsign. Don't use your whole ID line, and don't put in the prefix EH_ yourself (BSC will do that for you). So, if EH_SomeGuy signs up, he'll use the name SomeGuy, not EH_SomeGuy or LT SomeGuy, etc, both of which I have seen :) You can always change that by logging in and editing your BSC profile.
Ø For any Star Wars fans in Scotland, there is currently an Exhibition of Star Wars art work, models and costumes. It is at the City Arts Centre on Market Street in Edinburgh. It is open from 10am to 6pm Mon, Tues, Fri and Sat, 10am to 8pm Wed and Thur, noon to 5pm on Sunday. Price is £6, £4.50 concs. It is on now until Sep 8th. It contains things like conceptual drawings, artwork of sets (The Hoth landscape is amazing), Production models (including X-Wings, Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers as well as the Millennium Falcon!). Also on display are costumes, the droids, Darth Vader, a shop, software room and in the entrance hall a full size version of Anakin's Pod Racer. So if you are in the Edinburgh area and want to see Yoda, a Jawa and a surprisingly large Ewok, go and have look.
Ø FYI, ATF Battlegroup Commander, Admiral Jeff Loruss has updated his email address to tiger01@cableone.net. The Battlegroups Commander, Admiral Mell, has also updated his email address to mell@tiecorps.org.
Ø After 3 weeks, Project Hawkeye is finally completed. Many of you are curious what it was all about. You can find all the information you need at the Hawkeye Aftermath site now, including answers to the qualification test, the winners and other agents, the datapad, and of course, both EH and NIF sets of missions - all 10 missions for each side include solutions and some contain excerpts from selected agents' responses. Please make use of these extremely valuable site, especially if you plan on applying for Hawkeye II. We've learned a lot from this run and many of the missions you see on the site may be repeated in some form or another in the next episode. I'd also like to thank the Hawkeye Admin and Dev Staff who all put up with me when I tried to make sure everything went perfect. Indeed, it did - everything went really well, and I hope the agents enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

The Project Hawkeye Aftermath site can be found at http://www.ehnet.org/~hawkeye/after/.
Ø Just a reminder that submissions for the Newsletter will be accepted up until the 1st of April this time. This is due to the release of Jedi Outcast and I would just love some reviews of the game. If you want to write a review, you'll need the following information in it:

Your ID line, obviously
Your system's specs (at least include CPU, RAM, video card and operating system. If you want to be picky and include more, that's up to you)
Areas you might want to consider when writing your review would be sound, graphics, plot/storyline, control and how much the lightsaber kicks ass (or doesn't if that's the case)
A final summary and/or score
Some pictures would be nice too

Also, if you have a more general article idea relating to Jedi Outcast, the original Jedi Knight or Lucasarts/Star Wars games in general, send them in too.
Ø Your favorite CS is back to active duty ! BSFs and custom submissions have been all processed, things are back to normal in the Tactical Office. Thanks to the TAC Office members for keeping the place clean while I was away.

Squadron Commander’s Orders:

Ø All pilots are required to dress in the new Standard Duty Uniform during duty hours, and acquire the new Ceremonial Dress Uniform for special occasions.
