Omega Report # 13 (2001-11-23)

This report was submitted by GN Devin

CMDR/GN Devin reporting in for Omega Squadron on 11.23.01

Squadron News

- LC Joe has returned to us from Resh Squadron. He will be taking roost at Omega 2-2

- Did some calculations and came up with some interesting numbers... We bring a combined total of 53 years, 10 months experience in the EH, with the average time served being 4 years, 4 months. The two oldest members are Compton and Brian who are both at 6 years, 1 month. X is the youngest at 2 years, 1 month.

Competitions

- At first it looked like a victory for us, but after troubles reading a .tfr had been worked out, it looks like Mu edged us out for the win. MAJ Ixion was the top scoring pilot, but the averages worked against us. We'll have to improve for next time :-\

- We submitted a single XWA submission to the latest round of the Mascot Power Battles.

Activity Reports

- COL Darth Vader has challenged us all to get 30 FCHG points by the end of the year. This means you'd have to spend a measly 10 minutes a day playing TIE! Go for it! Quite a few have taken up the challenge (since we are old and feeble). Let's see if we can get everyone on board!

- Kramer has flown TIE-Free #137
- Darth Vader flew TIE-Free #106, 137 XWA-IW #22, 27
- Ixion did some damage on TIE-Free #106, 137
- Compton has flown TIE-Free #137
- Wolly flew TIE-Free #137 TIE-TC #116, 120, 172
- Dave got a piece of TIE-Free #106, 137
- Sasquatch has flown XWA-IW #26

Medals

- COL Darth Vader took home an Iron Star - Bronze Wings for his victory in the Top Gun comp.
- MAJ Ixion also was awarded an Iron Star - Bronze Wings for being the top scoring pilot in the Mu vs. Omega competition.

Miscellaneous

Quote of the Week:
"We are Omega... Lower your shields and surrender your beer! Your technological and alcoholic distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile!" - COL Darth Vader

Latest rant:
Wow! Things have been busy around here.

Competitions seem to be the rule of the day around here. The Mascot Power Battles are in process. We took yet another victory in our competition against Mu Squadron (well fought!). COL Darth Vader has also taken the #1 position in the squad in our November Top Gun.

And you know what? It doesn't stop there! In the next week, I'll be announcing the details for the First Omega Invitational. I am planning on making this a TIE Corps-wide competition, with the victor getting a very nice prize of a Star Wars action figure (R5-D4, also known as "Skippy the Wonder Droid") shipped to them. Good stuff I tell ya. I expect to keep up a decent pace of competitions and flying. Just to make sure we stay active and not loose our skills. I'm happy to see that the roster is filled with people that participate, so I am looking forward to seeing some good flying.

I've also been procrastinating in getting Compton's flash movie up on the site. I'll try to get that up this weekend. It's a cool fly-by of the whole squadron. I'm also looking forward to regaining some of the citations we've lost due to the recent transfers. We're down to 32! Hopefully, Ixion will be able to get some free time and produce us another of his excellent Tactical Advisor Reports.
