--Well, now that we are all back from break, it's time to go to work again. Our first comp of the New Year is a round of TIE Golf with Tempest, Thunder and Typhoon. More details in the Squadron Orders section.

--Congratulations to LCM Raxell who has been placed as Flight Leader of Flight 3. He follows in the footsteps of 2 notable former FL3's CMDR Boliv, and CMDR Locke.

Fly TIE-Free #176 for our TIE-Golf Competition with Tempest, Thunder and Typhoon. The first and second place winners will receive an IS-SW, and IS-BW respectively. The mission is enclosed, and the rules can be found at the end of the report. 100% participation is mandatory, unless you have a good excuse. If you can't fly it, tell me now.

Skipping a mission is only tolerated in case of a fatal bug, which is extremely rare these days. If the procedure stated in the cheating policy is not followed, the BSF is simply cancelled without any notification (because the database doesn't support it yet). Actually, skipping a mission for any reason may be forbidden in a near future, if people keep ignoring the procedures.

We have been seeing a lot of people using unknown commands and scripts on IRC channels recently, some of which can be malicious to your IRC Client. These scripts work primarily on human operators running the scripts out of curiosity and infect the victims IRC Client. I would like to advise all members of the Emperor's Hammer that it is usually a very bad idea to run any script you do not know exactly what it does from the code as it can do damage to your client and also if malicious may well earn you a ban and HCI trial.

TIE GOLF Rules:

TIE Golf comes from the creation of one weird IRC convo ;P

Basically, here's how it works

A FREE-TIE(FREE-TIE #176, Yoink!) is to be selected for flying. Instead of aiming for the highest score like usual, players are to aim for the *lowest* score. Now this sounds easy, and it is and a ton of fun at that. However there are rules to prevent things from
getting too out of hand...

*The player *must* complete the primary requirements. Secondary and Bonus requirements are not necessary, and are in fact discouraged ;P

*You may NOT use the invulnerable ship and unlimited ammo cheats

*You may fire on your own ships and destroy them to lower your score

*To add a degree of balance and even more crazy difficulty(and to prevent similar scores ;P) you may NOT get a score of 0! The challenges just add up ;)

*Scoring is laserful

When all the pilot files are in, they are averaged to see the lowest score. However there's a catch to encourage participation! Those who do not fly automatically get the free-tie's high score as their own! Participation is goooooood ;P
As for awards, a IS-SW will be awarded to the best golfer, and a IS-BW to the 2nd highest golfer.

Time to tee up. FORE!
