Asp Squadron Commander’s Report 02.08.02

CMDR’s Thoughts:
We started off the week by losing LT Haztix Vel to the Reserves. I wish Haz lots of luck while he’s in the Reserves, and hope he’ll be able to return to active duty in Asp real soon.

A surprise this week, for the first time since I took command Trash actually flew!! That’s right, she submitted two battles this week! I’m still recovering from the shock of seeing those pilot files in my inbox. LOL

I am accepting applications for a new F3 FL effective immediately. Since I’m not likely to have anyone else in Asp interested to fill this position I have posted notice on the Wing XIV mIRC Channel for applications from the Wing as well. However, this does not mean that I will refuse to consider any applications submitted from within Asp.

The Asp TOP ACE Competition will recommence, but with the use of Free Missions instead each week to see if activity can pickup for this. If I don’t have more participation by the end of the month I will drop the whole thing. The CMDR can’t be the winner every month. :P

I want to remind everyone that there are many ways to show activity, and flying is just one of them. There are also lots of great IWATS courses available that most of you can take advantage of. Unfortunately the same isn’t true for me because I’ve pretty much taken all of them. :P

We are now into full throttle on Recruiting! We need more pilots, and we need them fast. LCM John Clark and I have sent out a large number of offers for assistance to the CT’s. I haven’t received a single reply yet, and I’m not sure as of right now if John has either. But I want to encourage everyone in Asp to do the same. The more contact these new people have from our squadron the more likely they are to consider joining us when they complete they’re training. Use the example I sent out earlier this week regarding how to properly send an offer of assistance. DO NOT openly recruit a CT. The last thing I want is one of my officers being charged by the HCI for illegal recruiting.

Everyone participate in the Intrepid Platform Challenge. So far Asp has the most participation out of all the squadrons in Wing XIV, with your CMDR personally holding the overall lead as well. But with100% participation from Asp we can help the WC make this a more successful event. Still lots of chances for anyone to take a medal in each platform.

AWOL Check:
The good news is that everyone is covered on the AWOL Check. Now lets just see some activity people.

Prelude to Andevia:
The competition is still underway. Show your support for the TIE Corps and participate in the many events! You can learn more about this exciting EH-wide competition at http://www.imperialacademy.org/comps/prelude

Asp Squadron TOP ACE Competition:
Ok, as I said earlier I am cranking this comp back up to speed. Everyone fly XvT-Free #50 “The Intrepid Catches the Defiance” located at http://www.tiecorps.org/battles/battle.asp?record=578 I’m not attaching the mission because some email servers have a tendency to kickback emails with attachments, and this way you can all easily download the mission yourselves.

All pilot files to me by 2/14/02 in order to qualify for the TOP ACE Comp. Remember, this will also count as a mission for the Intrepid Platform Challenge as well, so get those pilot files in soon!

Multi-Player Competitions:
The Wing Commander is seeking the assistance of Asp Squadron to help motivate other pilots into flying in MP engagements. I see no problem with this, especially since we ARE a MP squadron, so lets get to it and start making a showing at the weekly competitions people!

Recruiting:
As CMDR I am responsible for the maintaining of the squadron. However, it is not the sole duty of the CMDR to recruit new pilots into the squadron. I suggest that everyone take some time in the next week to see about assisting some of the recruits on M/PLT Daedaleus. Remember, we can offer to assist CT’s, but no offers of direct recruitment are allowed unless the CT requests additional information about possibly joining our squadron or wing.

Battle Citations:
With the loss of LT Haztix Vel we lost ALL of our Battle Citations. It is more important than ever that we get new pilots so that we can at least get back our 13 citations we just lost.
