Commodore HA Dempsey reporting
Report ID: H.AD.006
Report date: March 15, 2015
High Admiral Dempsey stood at her desk. On the desk was the latest performance review of her pilots. Things were looking up this week she had noted. More missions flown, more missions won, more medals earned. But still she was not satisfied. Many thoughts meandered through her mind on incentives for her pilots to start participating in the ship-wide competitions. Things like public floggings, latrine duty, and maybe even random spacings for entertainment. Too bad all of those options would also mean less activity. You couldn't really expect someone to fly missions after you toss them out of an airlock....
Dempsey turned - perhaps a little gambling would do the trick...
Well, it's been a weird week. First, very few MP emails, and then I get flooded by 130+ LoC emails for a single pilot. No wonder my own stayed queued up for so long! I received a mere 12 LoCs this week, less than half of what was submitted. I really need to get working on the code I have planned for that.
There's also good news, as it seems activity is picking up on the Hammer. We have a number of people flying SP missions this week (grats to COL Harvey on his first TCoP medal!) and a lot of MP flying. Medals arrived in my inbox for ELEVEN different pilots, which is a new record I believe. Yay us!
Also, in the past two weeks, I've started to really get into this little Star Wars Card game called Pazaak. I've sent out an email to the TC mailing list to see if there's any other players, and if there is enough feedback I have a nice little competition idea for that. So let me hear you if you play Pazaak!
Unfortunately, the March Mayhem still isn't taking off as well as I had hoped. Submission counts remain very low. I have no idea why, if you have any suggestions, my door is open!
Lastly for this week: today marks the halfway point in this month, so I hope you've already started flying TIE Fighter Battle 3: Battle on the Frontier for the GoG Games competition. I did, so I should get started on X-wing Tour of Duty 2: The Great Search soon. I must admit I have never played that one before (I'd never even finished ToD 1 before), so I'm curious to see where it goes. I know where ToD 3 ends, but how we get there is a mystery so far! Remember - it's almost twice the size of a TIE battle, so get started early on!
If you wish to take on any of the following positions, send an application to the Squadron Commander (if applicable) and Commodore:

Dempsey's Weekly Riddles
Every week, the report will have a riddle. First pilot to send the correct answer to the mailing list wins. Each victory earns you an IS-BR. Unless it's a 5th victory, you then get a IS-SR. Unless it's a 10th victory, which gives you an IS-GR. A 25th victory will give you an IS-PR!
This week's riddle: A multiple choice question: if you randomly pick the answer from the 4 options I give, what is the chance you'll pick the right answer?
answer A: 25 %
answer B: 50 %
answer C: 60 %
answer D: 25 %
Last week's winner: CM Lanil Jast
Current standings: VA Woody: 4; HA Bonini, COL La'an, LC Clark, CPT Fenn, CM Jast, LCM Doc: 1
Hammer on Recon
Submit your StarConflict screenshots to me. For Domination and Beacon Hunt, the highest number of captures wins. For Team Battle and Combat recon, the highest number of "kills" wins, with assists counting for half a kill (rounded up). Submissions not earning a medal will earn an activity point. First place wins an IS-SW, 2nd a IS-BW (with 2 submissions or more, otherwise IS-BW for first). Submissions earn 4 pts for 1st, 3 pts for 2nd, 2 pts for 3rd and 1 pt for others. At the end of the month, the top 3 MP flyers will earn an IS-GW, IS-SW and IS-BW. 10 activity points wins an IS-BW and every 50th activity point will earn an IS-SW.
addendum: there are many ties in this competition, as of next week a tie breaker will be used: For Beacon Hunt and Domination, if the beacon captures are the same, kills will break the tie, or if needed the assists will. For Team Battle and Combat Recon, if the "kills" are the same, the one who kills the captain wins, or otherwise the absolute kills without the assists added will break the tie.

Monthly: fiction
The ISD-II Hammer is preparing to engage a convoy of freighters protected by two well armed Nebulon-B2 class frigates. The objective is to seize the freighter's valuable cargo. All the Hammer's pilots are in
their cockpits, and the squadrons are ready to launch when the command is given. Stormtroopers and pilots have boarded their transports, and on the bridge of the Star Destroyer, the Commodore sits in the Command
Chair. One more minute and the attack begins.
Write a fiction that details your role in the battle. You can write it from your character's perspective, but you don't have to, you can pick another character as well (but not someone else in the TC). Fiction
should be at least 750 words and submitted in Word or pdf format no later than March 31st! Fictions will be graded based on grammar and spelling (10% - have someone proofread your submission if possible),
entertainment and creativity (50%), realism (25% - Star Wars realism...) and continuity (15%).
Star Conflict continues to distract me from stuff I should be doing. Like going to bed at a decent hour, or household chores. If someone knows where I can find a few ewoks to clean out the COM's Office and living quarters aboard the Hammer, let me know!
