Spear Report # 24 (2001-08-08)

This report was submitted by MAJ Krax Tarnisar

CMDR/MAJ Krax Tarnisar reporting in for Spear Squadron on August 8, 2001

Fleet News
Nothing much going on in the Fleet. There are some command openings in various squadrons, some officers have gone on leave and others returned. Nothing out of the ordinary. As always, check the TC News page (http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp) for the latest.

Wing News
In the aftermath of the WCO, things have also been pretty quiet in the wing. The other squadrons remain active, and there was a burst of squadron commander promotions. Congratulations to all those who saw new rank flashes added to their uniforms. They are well-deserved!

Squadron News
It seems that someone must have been asleep on the promotion boards. Somehow I managed to get promoted. I take no credit for this whatsoever. Any credit goes rightfully to you, the members of Spear Squadron. In any case, drinks are on me! The StarDrifter is now back in limits! I hope they stocked up for this one…;-)

We have a number of new officers to welcome on board this week. All are proven veterans, and many have served with Spear before. Join me in raising a glass to LCM Luca, LCM James Dobush, and CM Jodo Kast! Let’s also have a toast for our new Executive Officer, LCM Ironfist!

We are now the second-largest squadron in the Wing, second only to Hammer Squadron. I’d like to see us become the most active, which means we’ve got our work cut out for us.

Don’t forget to have your weekly Personal Reports to me by Friday. All you need to do for these is tell me what you did during the week and, maybe, what you plan to do next week. This is now required by the Ship Standing Orders, and if you fail to do them for two weeks in a row you can be sent to the Reserves.

In line with the new Relentless SSOs, a number of new positions have come open in Spear Squadron. LCM Ironfist, our new XO, is serving as our Intelligence Officer and Supply Officer. For the time being, I’ll be acting as the Flight Operations Officer (setting up competitions that involve flying) – unless one of you would rather have the job. This leaves the position of Training Officer. If you’re interested in taking on this duty (which is important, in addition to looking darned good on the ol’ ATR…;-)), let me know.

Priority Charlie-Two: The motto/banner competition continues. I’m holding off on a squadron banner until we get a new motto. The idea I’ve got now is “Der ehrenwert Stoss,” which translates roughly as “Honorable Striker.” I would like to see banner ideas for the three flights, though. Banners for Flight II should also be CC: to LCM Ironfist for his input and comments. Flights I and III can come to me. I’m pretty happy with the flight mottoes right now, so these will be changed only if the Flight Leaders wish. Winners from each flight will earn themselves an Imperial Security Medal.

Activity Reports
CMDR/CAPT Krax Tarnisar: Did commander stuff, including this report – finished a battle – still flying TC 130 and preparing to re-fly TC171

FM/LT Weasel de Killa: No contact

FM/LCM Darkheart: No contact

FM/LCM James Dobush: Checked in – flew TC10

FL/LCM Argyle Ironfist: Checked in – flew TC9

FM/LT Owen: Checked in

FM/COL Torres: Checked in – preparing to fly a bunch of missions

FM/CM Jodo Kast: Checked in

FM/LCM Luca: Joined the squadron from Reserves – checked in – on leave this week

Miscellaneous
Remember – don’t cheat!

If you’re looking for some easy ways to boost your activity, try taking an IWATS course or two. They’re all accessible on-line, and are quite useful. I’d recommend the TIE Tactics course, and for those of you who are interested in a command of your own someday in the Corps Squadron Management/II is a fine choice. The computer basics and IRC courses are also informative. Those of you with joystick troubles should really consider an IWATS course.

LCM Ironfist is posting the Relentless SSOs on the squadron web page. Both these and the Spear SSOs are REQUIRED READING for ALL Spear officers.

Finally, I just finished designing a seven mission battle for eventual submission to the Tac Office (when they get back in the business of doing those things), and am looking for playtesters. If you’re interested in flying ‘Privateer,’ let me know and I’ll send a copy along.
