Phantom Weekly Report
Phantom Weekly Report #26
(05.08.01)

Introduction

It's been a very active and fun week. With most of the pilots back from leave, a competition running and plenty of chances to communicate with one another, it's been busy, busy, busy, busy, busy. It's been even more busy when you consider how difficult and frustrating the competition battle was. See the activity reports about that!

I couldn't arrange a squadron competition this week, which was a good thing as the COM's Own competition has started. The details about it are below, but I want to talk about the actual award for a moment. Getting the COM's Own proves that the winner is the best squadron on the whole ship. We already know that we are the best XWA squadron, never mind the best on the Immortal, but we need to prove it.

The past couple of COM's Own awards have been going to Falcon Squadron. This is just not on! That award should be ours ...IT WILL BE OURS!!!

Squadron News

Gunman promoted to CPT

Congratulations to CPT Gunman for getting such a well deserved promotion. Everyone in the squadron know what a good officer he is, and I'm sure all the pilots in Flight III know what a great FL he is too.

Sadly, the newly promoted Captain has to leave for the reserves. His XWA CD is screwed up and he's a bit busy so he's off to FRG Phoenix. As everyone knows, the Frigate has a reputation of a 18-30's holiday resort so I'm sure he will have a fun stay.

LT Trag'oul AWOL

Trag'oul went missing about a month ago, and the rules state that I must remove him. It's a shame as he was very active in the first few days of joining, but then went missing completely.

With this AWOL and CPT Gunman taking a break from us for a couple of months, our roster is down to just 8 pilots. I would be sad about this drop in numbers, but with such a good team as Phantom has I'm sure we'll live and get stronger as new recruits join us.

Message Board

Over the past week quite a few people have been posting on the Phantom MB. I would like to see more of this, so if you want to chat about something pop down to http://www.tiecorps.org/mb/ and find our MB. I'll be posting there more often from now on too.

Recruitment

With the roster slipping in numbers over the past week, Recruitment is very important again. Don't fret too much as I've been working hard at getting new pilots over the past couple of weeks. I'm already in contact with a few cadets helping them though there training, so expect numbers to rise.

Phantom Vs Flayer

All of the pilot files have been taken in, and I'm happy to say that we had full participation (with the exception of Nekura who was on leave). Thank you everyone for helping show that Phantom is the best.

COM's Own COMPETITION

Here is another opertunity to show that Phantom are the best XWA squadron in the fleet. Every pilot in Phantom Squadron must fly FREE-XWA 13 for the latest ship competition. You have to get your entries in to me (werdna_elbee@ehnet.org) before Saturday 11th August. More details about this competition will be appearing on the ISD Immortal mailing list, but you can get flying now as the mission has been attached to this report. Good luck!!!

Many congratulations go out to Colonel Ford Prefect who has been selected as the new Wing Commander for Wing II. Go Fordio!

Also thanks to the former WC, Colonel Inkwolf who served as WC successfully for several months, and has been awarded with the Gold Star for all of her hard work.

EH News Page Updated

This week's news page is actually very interesting, so please read it at http://www.emperorshammer.org/news.htm

Orders

  • Fly FREE-XWA #13 for the COM's Own competition
  • If you want to play multiplayer XWA, then get stuck into Imp Storm II
  • Attend IRC as often as possible. Remember that as well as #emperor's_hammer and #tiecorps, there is also an #ISD_Immortal room. If you need any help getting on IRC and using mIRC (or whatever) mail me.
  • Post on the Phantom Message Board more often. It can be found in the Squadron Forums on http://www.tiecorps.org/mb/
  • Recruit!!! If I can do it, ANYONE can!!!
  • Give me some BSFs to do. If there are any missions you haven't flown, then get flying. If you've completed them already, then why not go for the highscores as they may be useful in a future competition.
Activity Reports

CMDR/CPT Werdna Elbee (57):
29/07/01 - Flew TC-XWA #15 for squad competition (+6)
01/08/01 - Passed IWATS ICQ with 97% (+4)

Comments: This week I have been mostly been...editing and writing EHVOGUE, putting together the new Phantom website, recruiting like a madman, chatting on IRC a lot (including spying on the Wing III meeting), posting on MBs and mailing lists and occasionally conversing with the enemy (I've been mailing FA Kramer about books and comics :o). I've also been doing plenty of DB stuff too, but this isn't the place to mention it.

FM/LCM Jari (54):
31/07/01 - Flew TC-XWA #15 for squad competition (+6)
Comments: I know that Jari has a lack of time to mess around on the internet. So it's amazing to see that he flew for the comp, posted on the mailing list and message board loads of times, and still attends IRC when he can. Could you image how active he could be without the restrictions? A good week Jari!

FM/LT Nekura (57):
On leave
No recordable activity
Comments: N/A

FL/LCM Mark (138):
29/07/01 - Flew FREE-TIE #152 (+1)
29/07/01 - Flew TC-XWA #15 for squad competition (+6)
30/07/01 - Flew TC-TIE #2 (+6)
01/08/01 - Passed IWATS SM/2 with 86% (+4)
01/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #2 (+6)
01/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #4 (+6)
04/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #13 (+6)
Comments: Again, rarely a day passes that I don't have to BSF one of Mark's pilot files. On top of that he has been posting on the mailing list and message board a lot, and he appears on IRC very frequently now. He'll have more work soon however, now that he is a FL ...muhahaha!!!

FM/LT Rollins (70):
30/07/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #4 (+1)
30/07/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #5 (+1)
30/07/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #6 (+1)
30/07/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #9 (+1)
30/07/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #10 (+1)
04/08/01 - Flew TC-XWA #15 for competition (+6)
Comments: Although these are a lot of BSFs for Rollins, I'm used to more. Luckily for me, my BSF work was cut in half this week due to Rollins working very hard to complete the frustrating TX-XWA #15. He done it though, and I'm proud of him for persevering. He's been posting and chatting as much as anyone else this week (maybe even a little bit more).

FL/CPT Gunman (32):
29/07/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #8 (+1)
04/08/01 - Promoted to CPT
04/08/01 - Transferred to the reserves

Comments: Just as I begin to scratch the surface of how active Gunman really is, he ups and leaves. Most CMDRs would find that disturbing, but I know he's doing it because he has a bust XWA CD. I've seen him on IRC this week too. I'm now awaiting his return in a couple of months.

FM/LT Marek (54):
02/08/01 - Flew TC-XWA #15 for competition (+6)
04/08/01 - Flew IW-XWA #22 (+5)
04/08/01 - Awarded a CoB for completing 30 missions

Comments: Marek has been working very hard this week (he wants us to drop the Jaros bit of his name). Again, a bit of perseverance was needed to complete the comp battle, but he stuck at it and done well. He also flew another battle and got a CoB for his efforts, so it's been a really good week for him flying wise. He's been posting on the mailing lists and message boards too, and dropping into IRC when he can.

FM/LCM Deimos (50):
On semi-leave
No recordable activity (because he got high scores in his BSFs)
Comments: Even on semi-leave, he's taken time out to fly for the Flayer comp and defend a couple of high scores in some free-missions. We've been e-mailing each other a lot too.

FM/CM Spearhawk (123):
29/07/01 - Flew TC-XWA #15 for squad competition (+6)
31/07/01 - Awarded a MoT -bh for correcting mission
Comments: The TAC is grinding this poor man down. Its a good job he enjoys his mission correcting work, or he'll go nuts. While he doesn't fly so many missions for his FCHG, he's flying, re-flying, and re-flying the beta missions. It's a fair trade I guess. As long as he's keeping busy I'm happy. He's still taking up residence in IRC, and posting on every medium going.
