Introduction
3 weeks to go before I leave you all for the booze, sex and a bit of education. It's confirmed that I'll be moving away for University on Sunday 16th September, but until then I will put my all into making Phantom the best squadron in the fleet...and winning the competitions and awards to prove it.
Before I leave we'll have the chance of winning the WC's Own for this month, the next COM's Own will probably be starting in a couple of weeks, and the Battlegroups Monthly Awards will be up for grabs again. I want to see a clean sweep of everything so our awards board on our new website fills up. So everyone start flying, participating in competitions, doing IWATS courses, sending stuff in for the newsletters and anything else that will get your activity up.
New Pilot
LT Ezop has joined us from PLT Daedalus after completing his training. Like all the other pilots Phantom have got from the cadets, I'm sure he'll fit in and be incredibly active. He's already got his promotion to LT for completing TC-XWA #2, so it's looking good so far!
Squadron Website
I've just uploaded a new website for Phantom Squadron. I've took a step away from reporting squadron news, as you get that on the mailing list already, so I've packed the website full of useful and interesting information. There is a pilot archive, details on current competitions, information about the squadron as well as regular stuff like rosters and reports. You can find it at http://vogue.ehonline.org/phantom/
I particularly focused on the combat section of the website. As well as knowing what competitions are on and what your regular duties are, there is a Killboard and a list of awards. The Killboard shows the results of all the Squadron vs. Squadron competitions we have had. It looks good with a 100% winning record since I took command. Looking less good is the awards list, with some sections being blank and the others sparse. We must work harder to get more awards on that board. I want at least one of everything before I go!!!
WC's Own Competition
Yet again we must prove that Phantom is the best squadron on the ISD Immortal. Every pilot in Phantom Squadron must fly FREE-XWA 12 for the latest wing competition. You have to get your entries in to me (werdna_elbee@ehnet.org) before Thursday 30th August. Squadrons judged by average scores. A IS-SW goes to the Top Gun, and a IS-BW to the runner up.

As e-mailed by Fleet
Admiral AbsoluteK:
This is perhaps the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my EH career. But it must be done, for my own good primarily, but also for the good of the Hammer. For some time now, I have not had the same drive to do work for the EH. I have made many sacrifices to my own detriment, for the EH. However, it is a time for change, as I am going back to college in hopes of finishing a very tough 3yr program so that I can have a better future for myself, which unfortunately being IO cannot provide me. Most of what people will remember me for, is likely to be the now defunct hosting service I used to offer. Some may also remember me for some of the other minor projects I created, like the EH Images Archive, and the Greeting Card Centre, but as for any of the other ambitious projects that are listed on the IO projects page, I have not been able to deliver the goods. While some work has certainly gone into them, none of them are even near completion. Because of this, I must face the fact that I am burnt out, and have little drive to continue on in the EH in any capacity. Therefore, I resign from the position of IO
.I would like to thank my CA, AD Ari for all his efforts, and I believe he will make an excellent successor to me as IO should you approve. Ari is knowledgeable in PHP, ASP and HTML programming, as well as possessing a great number of ideas for improving the IO.
I will greatly miss being part of the command staff, something which I consider a great honour and privilege. I will also miss many of the people I have worked with, and helped out in my time in the EH. While I may stop by from time to time on IRC, I likely will not be around much. Anybody wishing to continue to stay in contact with me, may do so via email.
(CMDR note: Hmm...same reason as me!)
Competitions reminder...
21:54 - HA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
Just a reminder that both the Daedalus
motto competition and the Shameless
Promotion Competition end THIS Monday, the 27th of August.
Orders
- Fly FREE-XWA #12 before Thursday 30th August and send it to me!!!
- If you want to play multiplayer XWA, then get stuck into Imp Storm II
- Attend IRC as often as possible. Remember that as well as #emperor's_hammer and #tiecorps, there is also an #ISD_Immortal room. If you need any help getting on IRC and using mIRC (or whatever) mail me.
- Post on the Phantom Message Board more often. It can be found in the Squadron Forums on http://www.tiecorps.org/mb/
- Recruit!!! If I can do it, ANYONE can!!!
- Give me some BSFs to do. If there are
any missions you haven't flown, then get flying. If you've completed them
already, then why not go for the highscores as they may be useful in a
future competition.
CMDR/CPT Werdna Elbee (69):
25/08/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #12 for comp (+6)
Comments: I haven't had much time again! I've been communicating a lot
but I've not had the chance to do much flying. With my command duties, EHVOGUE
work and sorting out my departure for University you can't say I've not been
busy.
FM/LCM Jari (113):
24/08/01 - Flew TC-XWA #1 (+4)
24/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #178 (+8)
25/06/01 - Wrote for squadron run-on (+2)
Comments: As well as earning a fair number of merit points, Jari has also
been communicating a lot. It's nice to see that he is starting to get the time
to be fully active again.
FM/LT Nekura (57):
No recordable activity
Comments: I've seen Nekura posting on the mailing list, but very little else.
RL work takes his time up, but I hope he has the time to take part in the WC's
Own competition </hint hint>
FL/LCM Mark (144):
22/08/01 - Back from leave
Comments: Mark is currently creating an XWA battle, as well as trying to
organise a Flight competition with Ghost FII. He's only just got back from
leave, so I expect his flying record for next week to be better. Mark has been
doing a lot of communicating on all the mediums too.
FM/LT Bobecc (32):
24/08/01 - Flew TC-XWA #5 (+5)
25/08/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #12 for comp (+6)
25/06/01 - Wrote for squadron run-on (+2)
Comments: All this and a lot of
communicating has proven Bobecc to be a remarkably active officer in the matter
of only a couple of weeks. Good work!
FM/LT Rollins (120):
20/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #24 (+4)
22/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #20 (+4)
25/06/01 - Wrote for squadron run-on (+2)
25/06/01 - Wrote for squadron run-on (+2)
Comments: I think I overuse
the word "solid" when I write reports for Rollins. It's true though,
as he always has a good balance of flying, communicating and other duties. He's
also heavily active so I find his work rate outstanding!
FM/LT Ezop (5):
25/08/01 - Flew TC-XWA #2 (+5)
25/08/01 - Promoted to LT
Comments: Only a few days in and he's flown a
battle and been promoted to LT. Great work! I'll need another week to see how
active he can really be though (flying for the comp will help your case a lot,
mate!)
FL/CM Spearhawk (164):
19/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #172 (+4)
19/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #176 (+6)
20/08/01 - Awarded a MoC-soc for 500 posts
20/08/01 - Flew TC-TIE #168 (+6)
25/08/01 - Flew FREE-XWA #12 for comp (+6)
25/06/01 - Wrote for squadron run-on (+2)
25/06/01 - Wrote for squadron run-on (+2)
Comments: We all know how active Spearhawk is when it comes to
communicating, so I won't mention that this week (I did??? damnit!). Even though
is is very busy with betatesting, he found time to fly lots of missions and
participate in the competition so I'm very proud of Spearhawk this week.
FM/LCM Marek (75):
19/08/01 - Promoted to LCM
24/08/01 - Returned from leave
Comments: Another pilot who has only just returned from leave. He has
been posting loads of messages though, and received a promotion for his past
high activity. His activity record will be much longer next week.
FM/LCM Deimos (74):
25/06/01 - Wrote for squadron run-on (+2)
Comments: A quiet week from Deimos it seems. Nope, again we'll have to
wait for the TAC to sort out high scores again to show how active Deimos really
is. I don't mind though, as he's already flew for the competition and I don't
want everyone to know what score he got. He's been posting on the message boards
and mailing list too, and I think I saw him in IRC for a little while.
