Avenger Report # 3 (1999-08-16)

This report was submitted by MAJ Death

Take a seat pilots, and welcome to this week's squadron brief:
SQUADRON NEWS:
-The first piece of news is most obviously that I'm back from leave. My thanks to CPT ShadowXX for dealing with
any squadron problems that might have arisen while I was away.
-The XvT competition was held on the Zone last Saturday. Avenger was one of the squadrons that was supposed to
take part, but as far as I know, only LT Baron Fel showed. My thanks to Fel for participating and supporting his
squadron.
-Once again we had a strong presence at the weekly XWA comp on Sunday night. I haven't received the final results
so far, but from what I hear, ShadowXX once again finished in a high position. Congrats!
-I've been in communication with Maj Sasquatch, CMDR of Psi, over in Wing II about a competition between our
two squadrons. It won't actually start for another couple of weeks. The details of the comp are below in the squadron
orders.
-After much delay on my part, I've put up all the entries I received for the Squadron nickname/motto competition.
the page can be found at: http://members.xoom.com/priyumpatel/avenger_motto_nick.html
There you can find a list of the mottoes and nicknames. Simply choose your favourite from each and send their
numbers to me for your vote. You have one week to do so, the deadline being Sunday night. The winners will both
receive an ISM (unless one person won both--you'll just get one). I won't vote unless there is a tie. As for the
squadron banner part of the competition I haven't received any entries so we'll keep the original one for the moment.
-The first squadron meeting was held in IRC last night. In attendance were myself and my invisible friend, Barry. If
you want a log of the meeting, let me know (it isn't very interesting). The next meeting is Sunday 29th August in
#Avenger_Squadron. I've decided to change the time to 9pm GMT (4pm EST I think :P) I'm hoping that more of
you can attend at this time, and it doesn't conflict with the XWA thing.
SQUADRON ORDERS:
-As of this time, there are no squadron orders, but this doesn't mean you don't have to do anything. You can always
fly battles, write fiction, create graphics and so on. You don't just have to fly multiplayer once a week. Remember
that we are an ELITE squadron. The best there is.
-Avenger vs. Psi competition:
Due to the different natures of the 2 squadrons (and cos Psi ain't as good as us :P), the way this competition will be
carried out is little long winded in an effort to make it 'fair'. It will be broken into three different parts, different
people taking part in each of these. The parts are as follows:
? XWA: Two people from each squadron will fly against two from the other squadron (you have to fly both
from the other squadron) The matches are arranged by the people flying them. You can meet on the Zone,
mIRC or whatever. If you win a match, then you squadron gains 3 points. If you lose, then your squadron
gains zip. There are a potential 12 points up for grabs in this part.
? XvT: This part is the same as the XWA part, except that XvT will be used instead of XWA. Again, 12
points are at stake.
? TIE: In this part 4 people from each squadron will fly an EH TIE battle chosen before hand. The highest
scorer will gain 6 points for his squadron and the second highest scorer will gain 4. 10 points are to be won
in this part.
If any of you can count, then you will have noticed that this competition requires 8 people, and Avenger has only 6.
This means that 2 of you will have to fly the TIE battle as well as fly against the Psi fly boys. I would like you to get
back to me ASAP in which part you would like to compete, and also if you would be willing to take part in one
extra. If we're one short, then I'll do 2.
You will have two weeks in which to fly whatever parts you are down for, after which the scores will be tallied, and
the results announced. The awards for winners haven't yet been decided, but as soon as I know, you will.
Please get back to me on this soon, so that who's doing what can be sorted out.
-Work on the squadron homepage continues (at a snails pace :P) If you know any HTML, or would like to help in
any way, then let me know. Your help would be greatly appreciated and rewarded!
-Communicate with your fellow squadron members. If you don't, then you really are missing the point of being part
of the EH. I've attached a squadron roster. It has all the pilot email addresses.
