Even though it's finals week for me, I decided it's been too long since we've had a newly released battle so I took some time out today between database updates and studying to play some new battles and get them approved. Today's Battle of the Day is a four-mission TIE Fighter battle:

  • TC-TIE #149: The Marg Sabl

All battles are available to download at the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.

Parental Consent procedures

8 ABY
To comply with the United States' Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 2000, Grand Admiral Ronin has ordered that the TIE Corps and all subgroups must require e-mailed consent from parents of new potential members that are under 13-years of age.

Effective immediately, all new pilots who are under 13 will be required to submit a parent's e-mail address upon enlistment on Daedalus. Receiving verified parental consent will be a requirement to completing training for all new Cadets under 13-years old. This does not apply to anyone already enlisted prior to the new additions.

New Battle Submission Form system

HA Kawolski

29 April, 2000 12:14
8 ABY
Because TIE Corps pilots are getting too active these days, I'm forced to process close to 100 BSFs a day. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to do them and most of them I don't need to really look at because they have no high scores or anything on them.

The new system is as such: The Battle Submission system will automatically approve any BSF that does not have any high scores. This will leave it up to the superiors of commanding officers to keep track of whether or not their subordinates are abusing the BSF system. Any such reports of abuse (or suspected abuse) should go directly to me at absurefire@aol.com for investigation.

When I awarded the first TIE Corps Commander's Citation, it went to the ISD Colossus because they managed to submit a staggering 150 Battle Submission Forms in a single month after being written off for dead. The winner of the Citation for April has actually bettered that, with an unbelievable 176 Battles and Missions flown in one calendar month.

Your congratulations please, for the SSD Avenger Wing I, winners of the TIE Corps Commander's Citation for April 2000.

TIE Corps Mac FAQ Updates

The TIE Corps Mac FAQ has undergone a minor upgrade to reflect the following good news:

APEIRON UPDATE!!! Rated one of the top ten must-have Mac shareware games (and with a Star Wars conversion, yet!) Apeiron's new version 1.0.3 works on iMacs, iBooks, and other Macs with USB input! GOTTA get it--download it at http://www.ambrosiasw.com/
Note--If you don't have USB and already have Apeiron, I don't recommend upgrading, unless you're dying to use your joystick or trackball. Apeiron's new support for alternate input devices can cause problems. I kept getting unwanted motions, caused by signals from my joystick, while I was using the mouse to play. )

SimpleEdit--A text editor replacement for Simpletext, which can make PC-readable .txt files, has more formatting features than Simpletext, can handle ANY SIZE documents, and best of all, it's freeware! Check it out at http://www.evatac.com

TTConvert-- Can't find that Huttese grafitti font for Mac? This shareware program will convert any Windows TrueType font to Macintosh! http://members.tripod.com/~ebionite/tt-converter-15.hqx

Now that I've told you all that, you don't even need to visit the site. :P

In a totally unrelated item, shares in Aurora Photographic Services, a subsidiary of Ricaud Industries, rose today by 14 credits. Analysts have warned investors to be cautious, with the High Court of Inquisitors threatening to break up APS' parent company into smaller corporations following an investigation into allegations of blackmail. Ricaud Industries have strenously denied the charges, despite compelling evidence. The Corporate Division Direx Board has also defended the company as part of a policy to support "diversification into new industries, including blackmail, extortion, and protection rackets."

FO Loses MoH!

Flight Officer Kessler was stripped of his Medal of Honour this evening, pending an investigation into harassment of cadets on the Training Platform, Daedalus. The investigation was sparked by the delivery of photographs by an anonymous party to the Security Office.

The disgraced Fleet Admiral claims to be innocent, adding "that could be anyone's ass!". Security Officer, Fleet Admiral Rapier, dryly commented on the Flight Officer's claims, "Yeah, that's what they all say. I'm sure everyone will be able to make their own decisions when the pictures are leaked onto the EH holonet later this evening on pay-per-view."

Dean of IWATS, Fleet Admiral Astatine, could not be contacted in regards to the cadets and the alleged harassment. It's rumoured he's hiding under his desk, babbling like a mad fool following the recent apparent defection of one of his most trusted staff, Vice Admiral Kusanagi, formerly Director of the Elite Starfighter Training division of the Imperial academy.

More news as this story develops.

He has served in this Position for several months now and has personally seen to getting the EH a major feature article in the December 1998 issue of PC Zone #70 in Great Britain (pp. 74-77). Science Office Weekly Report

FA Kessler

24 April, 2000 21:32
8 ABY
As mailed from the Fleet Science Officer - Fleet Admiral Zoraan

Officers of the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet, I bring you the following news and updates from the Science Office:

1) Two NEW sets of patches have been posted at the Science Office, both created by SCOA / MAJ Kermee. These patch sets install the common TIE Defender and Missile Boat into XvT, and each one contains versions of the craft for XvT 1.14 & Balance of Power, as well as automated install & uninstall.
I am fully aware that several other slicers on the 'Net have created other T/D and MIS patches for XvT in the past, but the TIE Corps needs "standard" sets to design its missions on, and these just became them.

2) A NEW Laserless-Scoring BSF Utility for general TIE Corps usage has been approved and posted in the TIE Fighter segment of the Science Office's file archives. This is a VERY nifty little utility, created by one of our own pilots. -- Place it in a directory with any number of TFRs, execute a simple command line, and it will extract the specified number of mission scores from each TFR, and generate a TXT-file report which includes: total score, average score, best three pilots, best three "laserless" pilots, similar statistics for EACH TFR, and even a "cheat-check" for when total kills and score don't equal the totals specified in a TFR.

3) As reported by SCOA / MAJ Kermee, there is a new release of XvTED, and it's version 1.1. This is mainly a bug fix for X-Wing imports, but it also now has a resizable map and should have less "list out of bounds" errors. This will be the final version unless any more major bugs are found. The Science Office's file archives have been updated accordingly.

4) While acquiring XvTED 1.1, I noticed the new "combined" manual for XvtED and X-ED, and have added it to the Science Office's file archives as well.

5) The standing orders: If you know of any new utilities, informational websites, ongoing projects, slicing news, etc. that pertain to Star Wars games or total conversions, feel free to e-mail FAZoraan@aol.com. Comments, questions, and suggestions related to the Science Office are also always welcome! :)

All files and utilities are available for download at the Fleet Science Office

From gamefan.com:

GameFan Online got its hands on a hot little piece of information today concerning LucasArts' secretive E3 title, Bombad. Now, the company won't be dishing the dirt on Bombad till May 3rd, but we've got some exclusive information on the title and we're ready to squeal...

First off, those of you hoping for a Jar Jar platformer seem to be out of luck; GameFan's confirmed that Lucas Learning (the educational arm of LucasArts) is developing the game, so count on some form of education value force-d into the title. What else do we know? Well, it's being planned for multiple consoles and the PC, and will be targeted for children--hence the Gungan nature of the title. (You can hear Jar Jar refer to "bombad" in the film, provided you don't fast-forward through his parts.)

After a prolonged absence from the web, it is my great pleasure to be able to announce the launch of the new Emperor's Hammer Corporate Division domain, www.corporatedivision.com ... !

Work on the domain has been taking place for nearly a full month now, and particular credit must go to Lieutenant Commander AbsoluteK for his invaluable help, without which this site would not exist. Some of the final elements have yet to be put into place ... the Medal Board (due to having to find a new Vice Prex of Operations) and the Trade Assembly/Corporations sections (due to the restructuring currently taking place in the subgroup) are two notable absences, but should be up very soon. Also available is an up-to-date roster, and both on-line and off-line versions of the new Corporate Division Training Manual.

Any officers with web sites linking to the Corporate Division should update to point to the new domain as soon as possible. A new CD link banner is also available upon request to val.ricaud@btinternet.com. All suggestions and comments concerning the domain are also welcome at the same address.

Squadron.org & EHnet.org server info

On or about the 22nd of this month, I will be moving up a few floors in my residence building because the management is relocating all students who live on the floors 1-6 for the summer. This is because those floors are being used as a hotel during the summer. Now, this normally wouldn't matter, but as most of you know, I run the server that hosts sites off of squadron.org, and ehnet.org. I have talked VA Turtle the current IO, and he has agreed to host the pages and the squadron.org and ehnet.org domains while my server is down. I expect my server to be down for at least 5 days. During this time, nobody will be able to update their websites unfortunately since it was deemed far to time consuming to re add everyone's account on Turtle's server. Unfortunately, this means that all email accounts will also be down. For those of you who run databases on my site, they will be moved as well, and then moved back once my server can come online again.

I would like to offer apologies to all those who will be affected by this change. I'll get squadron.org running up again as soon as I can in my new room with all services.

I'll take my time off after exams to evaluate some new stuff to be added to squadron.org to enhance security, and service.

If you need to get in contact with me, you can either talk to me on IRC, or contact me via email at crhargra@senecac.on.ca

If you absolutely must have your page updated, send me the updated files zipped up, and with basic instructions as to where they have to go on your site.

As part of their E3 2000 conference, LucasArts will be releasing information on upcoming games on the 26th of April, 3rd of May, 10th of May, and today. Today's featured game is "Star Wars Demolition" for the Playstation where you drive surface-based (mostly) vehicles or ships in what appears to be a mindless deathmatch in various arenas, so is my first impression from the mixed screenshots.

Let us hope one of the upcoming planned games is an Imperial-based flight sim much like how TIE Fighter was accompanied after the release of X-Wing.

I've also added that horrible "Force Commander" game to the list. You can select what games you own by editing personnel profile through the administration pages.

New Medal - Order of the Renegade (OoR)

With the retirement of Colonel (now Sector Admiral) 'Pappy' Renegade a few members of the Command Staff have been working on a suitable rememberence for this great guy.

Order of the Renegade - The Order of Renegade is given out only once per year on the Twenty-fifth Day of the Month of March (The day of SA Renegade's retirement) for exceptional dedication, service and loyalty to the fleet far surpassing all other members and is regarded to be an independant recognition of a member's actions. This is awarded in the memory of Sector Admiral Renegade for his incredible work in the service to the Emperor's Hammer and may only be bestowed by the Fleet Commander. In the Hierarchy of Medals (IE: An ID Line), the Order of Renegade would come after the Medal of Honor and Imperial Cross, but before the Grand Order of the Emperor, but the OoR is NOT a Merit Award.

Science Office Weekly Update

FA Zoraan

08 April, 2000 08:55
8 ABY
The big news of this week is the addition of the NEW TIE Praetor patch for XvT 1.1x and BoP to the "Patches" section of the Science Office, as sliced/designed by SCOA/MAJ Kermee (Kermee@softhome.net). It is thereby approved for official Emperor's Hammer use.

Why is this such big news? Because while it's true that we already have XvT patches that carried-over from previous SCOs, most of them are just basic patch files with no instructions and only work on XvT 1.0 . . . :P

This one, on the other hand, is [hopefully] the first of a similar series of patches which contain updates for both XvT and BoP in a single ZIP and FULLY-automated install and uninstall routines -- not to mention very sharp custom graphics.

I would encourage interested pilots of the fleet to give this craft a test spin, but particularly, potential Intel Division mission designers -- this patch means that Intel and Praetorian Squadron are no longer limited to just TIE Fighter in their developments.

And remember: If you know of any new utilities, informational websites, ongoing projects, slicing news, etc. that pertain to Star Wars games or total conversions, feel free to e-mail FAZoraan@aol.com. Comments, questions, and suggestions related to the Science Office are also always welcome!

The Planetary Governor of the Heir System reports a massive enemy fleet emerging from hyperspace and assuming blockade positions. Intelligence reports from Heir confirmed that the entire Blue Fleet is in the system, before Blue Force imposed a communications blackout on the Red capital world.

Check the Imperial Storm Command Website for further updates. Red Force can't run forever, or could it be that they're up to something?

BLUE FORCE VICTORIOUS IN PIRATH SYSTEM

Blue Forces celebrate their first victory on Day Four of the Battle Exercise, with a crushing defeat of Red Force's garrison in the Pirath system. Both of Red Teams' Star Destroyers, the ISDs Immortal and Grey Wolf, along with their two escorts, the Frigates Ardent and Onamo were lost with all hands.

Blue Teams' starfighter Squadrons did not escape without losses of their own however, as Red Team's heavily outnumbered and outclassed fighter defences fought to defend their motherships. Wing IV in particular took a mauling, but all Blue Fighter Squadrons remain technically operational, if suffering from combat losses.

A full list of all casualties, including the names of all pilots Killed In Action is at the Imperial Storm Command Website.
