Description:

Here's another fiction competition, this time with a set background.

In the past, at the start of the Emperor's Hammer birth, the Trioptimum Corporation was known for its disasters. One of its research platforms, Citadel Station, was taken over by its onboard A.I, SHODAN. It took the skills of a hacker to stop SHODAN from destroying Aurora Prime.

Years later, present day. A new Directorate-dedicated flotilla led by the experimental Rapture-class Star Destroyer Aleph, is beginning their first mission. The Aleph is a state of the art semi-automated Star Destroyer, with navigational and tactical systems controlled by an onboard A.I, which also takes command in case of the incapitation of the ship's Command Crew.

Something has gone wrong onboard the Aleph. The crew is slowly being killed off by the ship's internal defenses, and the Aleph has shut down its engines and started to upload a program into the Directorate's command-net on Aurora Prime. A program that would form a familiar face on every single computer screen on Aurora Prime.

SHODAN has returned.

Submit a story about the Directorate's reaction to SHODAN's return. (They can win or lose)

Competition awards:

Seal of the Tac for First Place
